View Full Version : Well, since we're talking about anniversaries today.....

Paulie

...I can't let this opportunity pass by then!!!

It was one year ago tonight that a certain blonde from New Jersey, who I am rather fond of, purchased a ticket from the inimitable Doctor T to that night's show at MSG. Of course, she thought it was for Rick Springfield, but that's another story!!

Anyway, the good Doctor invited this lovely young woman over to Mustang Harry's to meet all his friends who were hanging out there, including a certain bartender/banker from Boston, who told her all about this wonderful message board through which we had all met.

Little did I know that this one random, chance encounter would have such a wonderfully profound effect on my life.

So, Happy One-Year-Since-We-Met Anniversary, Bethie!!! I love you!!!

Awww... and while we speak of blondes and important dates, I'd like to send out a happy birthday wish to our long-lost Bruce sister, Gizzy, who's off running her magazine and raising her kids these days, but does peek in from time to time.

Happy B-day on the 29th, dear Giz!

How MUSHY!!!!

Ok, Beth, see if he remembers your wedding anniversary after, say 6 years or so...

My husband still thinks we were married on the last day of September...September 31!!!

Paulie--start thinking of great drinks to make in Atlanta--you know I love you both, but you've got entirely too much time on your hands 

Ok, that's what happens when I try to make those cute, winking smiley faces I see everyone else making...no, my computer decides to do wacko stuff.

Those are supposed to be winky faces!!!

One year ago tonight, I saw Bruce for the last time of the tour and I met this incredible bunch of people in a bar, and little did I know at the time what a huge role they would play in my life and that one person in particular, that would be you, Paulie, would change my life forever.

Thank you again Doc for selling me the now infamous ticket and for bringing me to Mustang Harrys. You are one of a kind and I am so happy that you and I became friends. If I hadn't gone to the bar I would never have gone to the Big Chicken, Las Vegas, bought a very stylish orange shirt, seen Bruce at the Pony in November (sorry honey) and many other wonderful adventures. I can't wait to see what the future brings and where else we can get into trouble. I love ya!!

As for the most significant aspect of the evening. Little did I know that the guy from Boston telling me about this board would turn out to be the love of my life. When I think of all the things that had to take place for me to be there, I am truly amazed. Thank you Paulie for being there that night and most importantly for bringing such joy and love into my life. You are the best!! I love you with all my heart!

Oh yeah, and I got BIYA that night too!!!! Not quite the NYCS on the 20th, but awesome nonetheless.

Back to the top with this one (I have my reasons). With all of my heart I wish you both a Happy Anniversary! I am proud to say I have been able to participate in some of the events in your life together so far. It is wonderful to see 2 people so happy - you deserve to be happy. Rent-A-Husband and I have been together for a long time and it does our hearts good to see you young'uns find each other. No matter what ANYONE else might think, good people are meant to find each other - sometimes it just happens in very mysterious ways. Love you guys.

BTW Paiger - while I love Paulie dearly, now that you are un-pregnant, next time you are in Atlanta, make sure you get your drinks from me! The Real Bartender

you realize that in addition to yesterday being the anniversey of Beth and Paulie meeting, another event took place that night involving a stove and a certain body part, if I'm not mistaken that was also ashtray dance night

Happy Bruises baby......

Hey, Red!!

I will get a drink or two from you, as well.

I'll need it since I'm hoping to do something I've never done...I've never (GASP!!) **Roxburried** (did I even spell it right?)!!!

So, with an orange shirt and some blue speedo's (not to be worn by me), I hope to get that Roxbury experience!!!

I'm sure Doc can ablige!

I think we need 'Julie the Cruise Director' back...

you've never been roxburyed - OMG - we couldn't do it last fall otherwise you would have suffered from shaken baby syndrome(ask Alidoes) - we will definetly make sure you get Roxburyed in Atlanta - Julie, padding for the stove please .......

Doc

My bruised a** and I thank you for recalling that momentous event and since only you and I were witness to the ashtray dance - you realize no one else believes us! Where is your partner-in-pain, Mr. Bump? It was his bright idea, if I am recalling correctly (through that evening's haze of "ToKillYou" shots), to Roxbury me against the Club PJ stove in the first place. Do you realize how lucky we were that it wasn't a gas stove? LD Tramps would have been reading about us on the front page of the NY Post - "Bizarre Cult Initiation Rite Cause of Gas Explosion Near MSG". Love you, Red

I think your first task should be getting ALL Members of the OSB to Atlanta in October (ie, Bump, Ali, PJ, and Frenchie - plus CWGourmet and Moriley - anyone else I missed - Paiger can't be properly roxburyed unless all members are present

Red - who wouldn't believe any story where we were involved ??

just been very busy at work lately (ugh). First, happy belated anniversary to Bethie and Paulie - so glad you two hooked up. Hey Bethie - do you think Mustang Harry's will put a plaque at that railing???

Doc - tomorrow is the anniversary of the first SDR (starvation death ride) and HoJo's and Paulie kidnapping 3 WWA. Geez, we were busy people last year weren't we?? And you know I believe that Red did the ashtray dance, I'm just surprised that hotel security let you two back on the elevator :D:D

Red - how's that broken wrist?

Paiger -

might want to ditch the hubby during the Roxbury experience - or hell, maybe we will just have the WWA roxbury him - or Paulie can make him a really weak ass drink

of course a mother of two should be doing these things

Don't worry, the Roxbury is an equal opportunity activity. While you are receiving it from Doc and a willing accomplice, I'm sure we can convince a couple of your sisters in the WWA to give one to your husband. Shouldn't take more than a couple of shots of tequilla to convince!!

Hi Peej! Glad you finally woke up today. Wrist is not doing much better (after all, its only been a MONTH!!!). Got a CT scan yesterday and will get results on Monday. Will keep you posted.

Paiger - as a member of the Southern Chapter of the WWA, I will be happy (so long as we can find an electric stove) to indoctrinate your husband into the Fraternity of Roxbury next time you are in town. I am sure I can count on the othere members to help. And yes, a mother of two NEEDS to be doing this sort of thing - it will be the one thing that helps you get through their teenage years! Julie

Hi everybody! So many friends, so little time......

Congrats Beth & Paulie! God, I miss the air conditioner on the rail, Princess. And crabcakes with the Elvis couple at Harry's. And I miss seeing Paulie's reaction after The Promise. And jumping up and down in elevators. And bumping knees. And heads. And thighs. And bruises on body parts I never knew I had. And buttons popping open for Clarence. And stoves bouncing on floors. And strangers having picnics and eating food we wished we had. And Cheesequake. And orange shirts. And holding three's. And cheapo skate-o. And Paige telling me to pump it up. (Love you Babe-congrats!) And train wrecks. And furry picture frames. And Tommy purses. And howling at the moon with werewolves that couldn't make it. You know I could go on and on....(leopard skin panties come to mind).....but I just want to say I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!

June 29th was the second to last show, I know because I walked from club PJ's to my apartment at 3 am in the Upper West 80's got to appreciate a little about what NYC Serenade was about.

doctort

doesn't everyone want to be like Andrew - and why is it that he got roxburyed by 4 or 5(or was it 9 or 10) Wild Women and didn't seem to appreciate it in the least - its really sad when a good roxbury is wasted

if we really want to get Andrew-like, June 29 is the anniversary of "doing the worm" which is one of the reasons HoJo's was "visited" the next day. That was also the night of the lasagna dinner and how many people can we get in the elevator?

To take this thread into yet another wacky direction:

One year ago today, a simple three-hour roundtrip from NYC to AP turned into the infamous SDR....Starvation Death Ride!!!!

I continue to maintain that, despite what my beloved would point out to me months later, there were NO places to eat between Asbury Park and the Cheesequake rest area on the Garden State Parkway!!!! Well, except for that Italian restaurant that didn't start serving food for another three hours!! That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!!! :D :D :D

But on the bright side, I did get to kidnap Ali, PJ, and RHW1812...much to the utter indifference of Bump, Doc and Incident.

Ahhh...the memories.

Paulie

doctort
Jun 30th, 2001, 09:33 AM
Why we would we ever allow FACTS to ruin what is otherwise a perfectly good story - and Bethie, there are no places to eat between NYC and AP, all those restuarant places with signs saying food - must have been some sort of SDR illusion - man, we should have had a cruise director that day

as for the infamous HOJO'S, I've been to AP at least 8 times since and the sign always says OPEN yet you never see any people in there - strange

as for RHW1812, I doubt her memories of that day are nearly as wonderful as ours - heeheehee

come on Doc all these cheap shots at me and yet no mention of Dame Edna?

My memories of June 29th to June 30th are of kind of like
the last week of college, lots of fun before we all go off into the real world, lots of drinking, seeing some old friends for the last time and some other newer friends for what I hoped would be the last time but they keep coming to visit (:==:)

I have to thank Doc for my ticket to the June 29th so I will
and PJ for inviting me to visit Club PJ and see how 20 people could live in such a confined space. It was nice to
have a whole day free in the city and I still think I walked
further that day than any of the Starvation Death MArches did. Thanks of course to FLAHockeymom and moriley my favourite dancing partner for once again proving that Southern WWA are the best!
