Anyone rushing out to the nearest BEST BUY to pick up your own copy of Celebrity today?

Anyone already have it?

Anyone care to write a review on the songs, the cover art, the thank-you's, etc?

Anyone feeling rebellious and refusing to fund their over-expensive hotel rooms, thus finding other means of obtaining the album?

Let's discuss... Anyone?

My only shot at obtaining said cd was if my daughter wanted it...lucky for me she "is SO over those guys"..at least for the time being :) Her sights are now set on 12 year old Robert she met at camp last week

I've heard that Up Against the Wall song a couple of thime, but don't have the CD. Little club/trip-hop number. Good job at producing, JC! I really like it. If the rest of the album sounds like that, I'm all the way in. :D

Read the Entertainment Weekly review . . . gave them a B. Also went thru it song by song . . . said most of them sounded like Michael Jackson songs . . . kept baggin' on Justin's mimicking said MJ's style. Hmmmmm.

Loving Up Against The Wall...Mer, you'll like the CD. Get it!

I'll save a review for when the glitter of newness wears off and I'm not just raving about having a new toy to play with.

And hush up, ISOJ, fork out the bucks so my future husband can start saving up for the wedding. ;)

MerrySunshine
Jul 24th, 2001, 11:07 AM
Oh, mind you, I'll buy it . . . . But it probably won't be today . . . . probably this weekend. I'll have to settle for being part of the first week sales rather than the booming first day sales like I was last time. ;)

I understand that they've taken a lot of London club sound and incorporated it into this record. Good or bad choice to do that, on the whole, Nik? Also, what's the sappy ballad to dance tune ratio? You know I prefer a good dance tune to Diane Warren sop any day! :D

NikDC
Jul 24th, 2001, 11:11 AM
I'll give it a 70:30 Dance to sappy. And the club mix works so far for me. At least, the pulsating beats haven't given me a headache yet. ;)

MerrySunshine
Jul 24th, 2001, 11:16 AM
Remember Kevin B. in law school and his description of club music as "unce-unce music," complete with vocal mimick of same? Can't go into a club w/o thinking of Kevin now . . . .

Good. I can deal with a 70/30 sap factor . . . it's when it approaches 50/50 that I get bothered. :D

Just went out and got it!
Love Pop, The Two of Us, Up Against The Wall and the one ballad I really like Selfish.
I don't like the cover art. JC has Joan Rivers hair.
I'm still looking at the inside thing.

I'm with you Mer, give me a good dance tune instead of the "girl I'll love you forever but I won't touch you" sop.
Only song I don't like on this is Just Don't Tell Me That, sounds a lot like BSB Get Another Girlfriend.

MerrySunshine
Jul 24th, 2001, 11:55 AM
Yeah, those "I love you, oh so much / and respect you as a person / You are my air and water / I can barely walk without you in myyyyyyyy liiiiiife" songs . . . . They hurt me. There's one song on No Strings that I still have yet to get all the way through. Never even gotten through an entire verse of that one. It's that one that starts "When Winter . . . ." That's as far as I get b/4 I hit the button to make it go to the next track. I couldn't name that tune in four notes if my life depended on it! ;)

But I love me some hoppin', dancin' NSYNC . . . . Can't get enough of 'em I still love "I Want You Back"! :D

vester
Jul 24th, 2001, 12:05 PM
Yup, know it and skip it.
I hear enough sop from them when they are interviewed and Justin goes on and on about how much he loves Brit. Whatever. Tell me again in 2 years.

I will always love I Want You Back. I will love Bye Bye Bye again after I get over the saturation. Right now it just sends me into a seizure.

When my Dream and A-Teens CDs lose their novelty, I'll go buy it.

Note sarcasm. I own it already. Rahaha. Okay, not really.

Jul 24th, 2001, 12:34 PM
Vester- just have to correct your BSB song up there. It's Get Another Boyfriend.

I know...you're all  at me. It's okay. I can take it. :D

vester
Jul 24th, 2001, 12:37 PM
Don't tell me A-Teens came out with a follow up CD after "Two Guys, Two Girls, No Talent".

I'm so out of the loop.

Jul 24th, 2001, 12:40 PM
Oops. Sorry Ellen. Thanks. :)

I also quoted the wrong NSync song, so that's OK. Hope they don't revoke my Fan Club Membership Card. I won't get the newsletter this month telling me all about the boys horoscopes and how I can be a better fan if I stay in school.

insearchofjason
Jul 24th, 2001, 12:45 PM
Speaking of songs you can't get through the first two words before skipping... that song on NSync's first album. The first time I heard it in it's entirity was in DC. I said, "Nikki... can you burn me a copy of this song?" Her reply, "You have the fire CD, don't you?"

Fire CD? Oh yeah... I have that one.

Just never got through the first two whiney lyrics of JC.

And Mer, I don't even know what song you're talking about from NSA, so I must be a skipper of that song too.

NikDC
Jul 24th, 2001, 12:48 PM
For those of you playing at home, ISOJ is referring to Everything I Own from the "fire" cd.

And the other one is That's When I'll Stop Loving You from NSA.

The password is...ceiling tiles. :)

vester
Jul 24th, 2001, 12:54 PM
What's with the "fire" CD. Is that what it's called?

JC ... whining? Never! Bah! *dismissive wave*
You see ... I've been watching and learning.

NikDC
Jul 24th, 2001, 12:56 PM
Well done! Almost like a pro.

The CD has the blue Nsync flame on it...that's why she called it the fire cd. As opposed to the white cd (Winter Album) or the orange cd (NSA)

insearchofjason
Jul 24th, 2001, 12:59 PM
Nikki, you're the one who called it the fire CD. I was thinking, "Christ, how many CD's have these boys came out with?" Imports up the wazoo.

NikDC
Jul 24th, 2001, 01:03 PM

Jul 25th, 2001, 06:56 AM
Hmm...ok so I bought the cd yesterday but I'm just now able to decide what I think of it.

As usual, it gets two thumbs up from me. It just took awhile for me to decide that. More than the typical..."It's by NSYNC? Then I LOVE it!" reaction.

Parts of it are quite bizarre though.

insearchofjason
Jul 25th, 2001, 07:01 AM
I have yet to find other means of obtaining the CD... somehow, I feel like I'm missing out on something.

Sunny, bring your CD over next time you visit.

sunshinegirl
Jul 25th, 2001, 07:19 AM
ISOJ...I can do that, no problem. But it's one of those cds that you really need to listen to four or five times before you really decide what to think.

One big down note...they do use the term "shorty"...I laughed for a good 10 minutes while playing it over and over again.

NikDC
Jul 25th, 2001, 07:27 AM
They're obviously trying to market to our Shorty :D

Sunny's right. There are weird parts, but they're almost endearing.

I thought I didn't like The Two of Us until I found myself dancing along to it. Others are still growing on me. Thumbs up here too. Also big thumbs up on the pics with the Thank Yous. No, thank YOU!

MerrySunshine
Jul 25th, 2001, 07:29 AM
I find this "shorty" term amusing . . . when used to reference females, that is . . . . Particularly since, esp. in heels, I tend to match or even tower over most men I know . . . . And, who does Chris Fitzpatrick think he is calling anyone shorty? I think he and I are about the same height! ;)

vester
Jul 25th, 2001, 07:33 AM
Oh ... I thought they were just referring to me. ;)

And Chris' thank you is hilarious. For reference ...

Chris would like to thank JC and sometimes Lance and maybe Justin and this one time Joey, no two times Joey. Actually, could you swtich JC and Joey? But seriously, just Justin. No, make that Lance. Come to think of it, it should just be Joey.

The guy is too funny!

MerrySunshine
Jul 25th, 2001, 07:45 AM
Bless his little comedic heart . . . . If this were a VH-1 behind the music special, this reference would be followed with something like this:

"But that smiling persona hid a deeply sensitive and often dark nature. [fade to shot of "dangerman-Chris" from back cover of the Winter album] Chris would use his humor to mask his pain of being the first member of the super-boy-group to face down his 30s . . . ."

insearchofjason
Jul 25th, 2001, 07:47 AM
Love Chris... he is so going to keep me entertained in my eutopian bubble.

Didn't Usher coin the word "Shorty"? Since then LL, Lil' Romeo, Coo Coo Cal, Afu-Ra, Screwball, M.O.P., Ludacris, NAS, G. Dep and P. Diddy have used the term.

Now NSync. Takin' it to another level, boys.

sunshinegirl
Jul 25th, 2001, 07:51 AM
They've certainly taken it to another level...and apparently on that level they have girlfriends who they call shorty and they use circus type music ala Jordan Knight. I have to say..."The Game is Over" use of Pac Man type sound affects is brilliant and not the least bit velveeta-ish. I'm also convinced that at least one of the songs is in fact a Janet Jackson song of the Rhythm Nation era.

But those points aside...I like it! I'm easy to please...

Chris' thank you had me rolling! LOVE that man...

Short Chris
Jul 25th, 2001, 07:51 AM
Actually, I think I coined the phrase "Shorty" back in 4th grade. Damn that Usher.

NikDC
Jul 25th, 2001, 07:53 AM
Now, Sunny, go out and do something nice for someone :)

vester
Jul 25th, 2001, 07:54 AM
He's such a wannabe X.
You will always be the foremost Shorty. :)

MerrySunshine
Jul 25th, 2001, 07:55 AM
Let's not forget Pink's use of the term "shorty" as in "Shorty got a job / Shorty got a car / Shorty can pay her own rent . . . ." She's one street mama!

vester
Jul 25th, 2001, 07:56 AM
Word.

sunshinegirl
Jul 25th, 2001, 07:57 AM
Obviously Pink rubbed off on them while they were on tour together. It happens...

NikDC
Jul 25th, 2001, 08:01 AM
Perhaps X will feel better about the obvious copyright violation with the usage of the word.

She took my hand, we never said a word at all.
Just started grinding, Shorty had me up against the wall.

I'm sure that makes it all better...

Jul 25th, 2001, 08:12 AM

X, it was Lance wasn't it?

MerrySunshine
Jul 25th, 2001, 08:18 AM

vester
Jul 25th, 2001, 08:27 AM
Hmmph ... I'll bet JC told you it wasn't gonna get weird.
And then it got weird.

MerrySunshine
Jul 25th, 2001, 08:27 AM
JC certainly does! He was so disturbed by it he had to write a song to release his inner torment . . . . You SHOULD feel dirty!

NikDC
Jul 25th, 2001, 08:27 AM
Just don't tell me that... :(

sunshinegirl
Jul 25th, 2001, 08:33 AM
LMAO Nikki...funny since I have had that song running through my head all morning.

All those that have the cd...what's your favorite song on it? Yes, this is now the NSYNC forum...

Who has the best elbows?

NikDC
Jul 25th, 2001, 08:37 AM
Bet it was that party at the Playboy mansion, Sunny ;)

Right now I think it's The Two of Us and Up Against the Wall and Gone but I'm sure that'll change with repeated plays.

vester
Jul 25th, 2001, 08:39 AM
I LOVE Up Against The Wall (the song that is ... well ... nevermind)
I also love Selfish.

And JC has the best elbows ... no wait ... Lance. It's a toss up.

MerrySunshine
Jul 25th, 2001, 08:41 AM
Now, wait. Are we talking cutest elbows or best functioning elbows? Because that's two different things . . . . Gawd! ;)

Jul 25th, 2001, 08:52 AM
got the CD on repeat here at work.

I'd have to say The Game is Over, The Two of Us, Up Against the Wall, Gone, and Selfish are the faves. For now.

I'm still drooling over the pic of JC in the thank you's. But the pic of him fondling the can of tomatoes concerns me a bit.

Jul 25th, 2001, 08:55 AM
People... don't make me go out and buy the damn CD.

sunshinegirl
Jul 25th, 2001, 08:55 AM
CUTEST elbows Merry! Sheesh...

You know, I was wondering....there was a patch on the left bottom cuff of Joey's jeans...do you think that that patch was a yin/yang symbol or a fish? And do you think it's meant to be a symbol of his new entrance into fatherhood?

Oh yeah, and I think Lance changed how his hair is parted! He looks SOOO hot!

Back to my question...I think as of right now, my favorites are Girlfriend, Selfish, Just Don't Tell Me That and See Right Through You.

sunshinegirl
Jul 25th, 2001, 08:56 AM
Why don't you just download it ISOJ?

Besides, you didn't like Pop, so I'm not sure if you'll like it.

insearchofjason
Jul 25th, 2001, 09:29 AM
Pop grew on me after it was the only song that could keep me awake while driving through rural Wisconsin at 3:00am.

Come to think of it, I don't think I've heard it since.

Have I lost my fan-club membership?

MerrySunshine
Jul 25th, 2001, 10:16 AM
OK. Just ordered it online from Tower Records. Did it this way b/c you get the free NSYNC Inside Out CD ROM if you order from Tower online!

I'm officially a 12 year old for wanting the free stuff!

sunshinegirl
Jul 25th, 2001, 10:34 AM
Weren't you officially a 12 year old for ordering it in the first place?

Yeah...it definitely kept me up. But as I recall, you were taking 30 second naps every 50 seconds or so...

MerrySunshine
Jul 25th, 2001, 10:36 AM
14 for ordering it . . . . 12 for wanting the free CD ROM with "all new bios" and behind the scenes info! ;) You can all be my 13 year old cousins that I'll share it with if it's any good. :D

MerrySunshine
Jul 25th, 2001, 11:06 AM
Yeah, I think you can burn any kind of CD . . . . Anyway, it's what my friend does for a living (produce educational CD ROMs) . . . she'll know what to do, if you can do it etc.

(You didn't think little ol' technologically challenged ol' me would be able to do it on her own, did you? ;))

Jul 26th, 2001, 07:46 PM
"The Game Is Over" isn't that a track from The New Kids On The Block CD? Oh wait pardon me.. NKOTB... After they went Bad ass??

I have yet to buy the CD.. I was disapointed with NSA.. Lack of ballads.. They're a guy group, they are supposed to do nice songs with lots of harmonies.. Sure I love to get up and shake my little booty.. But when I think guy group, I think sweet ballads to their Mama's.. Ok, so I am stuck on my Boyz II Men cds.. Their song for MaMa..

I really enjoy N Syncs first CD.. The US release and the import where they all look like girls.. I just love the ballads.. "Everything I Own" great remake.. I enjoy it better than the orginal... "More Than A Feeling" totally enjoy that too..

you suck
Jul 27th, 2001, 12:23 AM
you suck

sunshinegirl
Jul 27th, 2001, 07:00 AM
See, that's exactly why I like NSYNC and don't like the BSB, I hate ballads. They bore me...

Hmm, does anyone think I'm jaded? ;)

vester
Jul 27th, 2001, 07:02 AM
Nope. I feel the same way.
Too many ballads.

MerrySunshine
Jul 27th, 2001, 07:08 AM
Yeah, too many ballads on a CD ruin it for me too . . . "bores me" is a good phrase, sunshine.

On the other hand, when we're talking a ballads, Diva got it right with the Boys II Men reference. They are unmatched when it comes to ballads . . . .

vester
Jul 27th, 2001, 07:20 AM
That's very true.

I much prefer Boyz II Men singing ballads than anything faster.

insearchofjason

Motown Philly was the best song those steak&cheese eatin' boys ever did.

vester
Jul 27th, 2001, 07:34 AM
I'm going to d/l that now.

sunshinegirl
Jul 27th, 2001, 07:36 AM
Exactly. Boyz II Men knew what to do with a ballad...but Motown Philly is STILL my favorite Boyz song.

Listening to BSB cds (other than the first one, which I still like, cheesy dance pop and all) puts me to sleep like no sleep aid can.

MerrySunshine
Jul 27th, 2001, 07:40 AM
Motown Philly WAS excellent.

insearchofjason
Jul 27th, 2001, 07:42 AM
The song they did that is funeral-worthy was pretty good too. Other than that, they're just four black Brian Littrell's in matching outfits.

sunshinegirl
Jul 27th, 2001, 08:27 AM
From See Right Through You:

"Does he freak you the way that I do? Cause you know that I know how to"...

Hmm...do you have to assure yourself? What a bizarre lyric...

Diva4230
Jul 27th, 2001, 09:17 AM
That's the reason why I love BSB.. They are a vocal group, they are supposed to do that whole 5 part harmonies.. BSB have good dance tracks.. But I enjoy the midtempos and ballads.. I am all about vocals..

I enjoyed 98* until they decided to dance.. 98* should not dance.. EVER!!

That's like telling Britney Spears to belt out a power ballad... Ok.. So it's not quite that extreeme..

insearchofjason
Jul 27th, 2001, 09:27 AM
Diva, I completely agree with you. 98 Degrees should never dance. Literally had to look away from the screen during that making the video when they were trying to funkdefy their image while wearing tight butt-sucking jeans.

I bet that's when JSimp decided she needed to move on...

sunshinegirl
Jul 27th, 2001, 09:46 AM
JSimp? LMAO

I love vocals, but I don't want to sit around and listen to people whine. I have enough people around me who do that all the time. Give me some upbeat, happy stuff!

Personally, I still think NSYNC's 5 part harmony blows BSB's out of the water...

MerrySunshine
Jul 27th, 2001, 09:48 AM
Because it actually has five parts . . . .

There's no real bass in BSB. That's always been my prob. with their harmonies, no true bottom sound . . . .

sunshinegirl
Jul 27th, 2001, 09:55 AM
Yup. They pretty much all sing in the same range. It's annoying. That's why I don't think their songs sound like they have much depth.

insearchofjason
Jul 27th, 2001, 09:56 AM
Coming from the bottom of the barrel, you'd think they'd have lots of depth. And a true bass.

Jul 27th, 2001, 10:05 AM
Can you do five part harmony with some squeaky tenors and a pedestrian baritone? Interesting.
