Christina is number 17 on Rap-Up (a magazine)'s list of the 50 Sexiest Women in Rap and R&B.
Here is the top 25:
25. Chilli (of TLC)
24. Whitney Houston
23. Erykah Badu
22. Mel B. (Spice Girls)
21. Mary J. Blige
20. Da Brat
19. Amel Larrieux
18. Pink
17. Christina Aguilera
16. T-Boz (of TLC)
15. Rah Digga
14. Dawn Robinson (of Lucy Pearl)
13. Eve (oh, yeah baby! :D)
12. Foxy Brown
11. Lil' Kim
10. Monica
9. Brandy
8. Mya (yum yum)
7. Aaliyah (my personal fave :D)
6. Lauryn Hill
5. Janet Jackson (go on girl! :))
4. Mariah Carey
3. Toni Braxton
2. Jennifer Lopez
1. Beyonce Knowles
FINALLY a sexy woman list that Jennifer isn't at the top of! Eve should have been higher.
Anybody else find it a little strange that Xtina was on this list --- especially so high?
Here is the clip they wrote about Christina:
Daring. Known as "the little girl with a big voice," Christina isn't afraid to take chances, whether it's in wearing scant outfits or in gambling her safe image as a mainstream pop star by doing a Spanish album. That brand of risk-taking has endeared her to hard-core fans and casual observers alike.

thats nice of them. its probably because of the high impact of LM, and not as major impact as COOB ( it entered the rnb charts, didnt it?!) anyways...

christinasSANTAboy
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:09 PM
Jake -- I don't think COOB ever went into the R&B charts...Even though I would love it if it did!
christinasSANTAboy
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:10 PM
Jake --- I know! What's up with that? She is so nasty!
Eve and Aaliyah and Left Eye should have been higher!
jakecaluvr
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:11 PM
i wouldnt know, i thought it did, based solely o the fact that it was played a few times on BET (or so i hear, i never saw it...) and sine it was an overall hit, i figured it just may have so...
jakecaluvr
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:12 PM
well i wouldnt go that far nasty, she is a sexy lady, just not sexier than the ones i mentiones, and the ones ya mentioned.... maybe it was made by "high ups" in the business, who always LOVE toni... who knows!? lol.

i'm not suprised she's on a list like that, R&B is known for having soulful artists and the like...
and Christina IS a soul-sista!!!

Thank you :) She and Pink are not black, but it's good that they don't consider them pop like everyone else does :)

Jul 28th, 2001, 10:21 PM
Yah for Christina!!!:D......(But I think she should have been higher on the list!:p)

Coolness! Aaliyah and Mya is certainly deserves to be in the Top 10. Brandy should not be on that list IMO Neither do Mel B
christinasSANTAboy
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:24 PM
christina's-girl --- yeah i know! That's why I was surprised!
Melissa of Dream, Christina, and Pink are the only white people on the list. I like that they don't consider them pop. It's great.
christina's-girl
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:25 PM
I don't see Melissa of Dream, and she is Pop ;)
Thanks for agreeing with me though :p
christinasSANTAboy
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:30 PM
I only posted the top 25. ;)
She is as much pop as Xtina is.
christina's-girl
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:32 PM
Nah, cause I don't think that Melissa's singing (I haven't heard very much of it since that other one is always singing, but I do know what it sounds like) can't be compared to Christina's soul, cause she's just had that R&B vibe in her since she came out. She was just put in pop cause most of her music was processed and she was one of the many yet to come with dance moves, blond hair, and catchy songs... I think that Melissa was put in there partially because of Puffy.

Jul 28th, 2001, 10:33 PM
i agree with ya charlie, and i cant believe mel b is on there as well as brandy in the top 10 too so... i didnt realize pink was on the list. she deserves to be on it as well so... shes hot so... lol.

That is great!! :D Thanks for tellin' us!! :D
christinasSANTAboy
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:35 PM
That's what I think too, but Christina hasn't really put out a R&B song except for LM. And LM isn't enuff to be considered "soulful" unless yer a fan like us and get to see the other stuff she does besides GIAB WAGA COOB and NWTBL. Know what I mean?
jakecaluvr
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:36 PM
wait a sec, i was confusing the members of dream up. i thought holly was meissa. in that case i have no opinion either, cause as far as i know, the only lead singing she does is very little, and only noticable in this is me, for that liitle hook, or whateva and you can barely even hear her so...
christina's-girl
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:36 PM
Yeah christinasSANTAboy. LM is just raunchy :p
jakecaluvr
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:37 PM
yeah i hear what ya mean, but you can definately hear the soul in her voicein LM. she hits PLENTY f high and long stretched out notes in LM, IMO so...
christina's-girl
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:38 PM
I don't think Melissa does very much for the group either. She looked like a photocopy of Britney at the end of their "This is Me" video...
jakecaluvr
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:38 PM
lol. its not THAT raunchy!
christina's-girl
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:39 PM
Well, the clothes were probably more raunchy than the song :p
jakecaluvr
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:39 PM
i agree about the melissa thing. BTW what is your name chrstinas-girl?
christina's-girl
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:40 PM
Marquita. Yours?
christinasSANTAboy
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:40 PM
We hear her "soulful" side more in things that not everybody sees. Everybody sees the LM vid and says "white girl trynna be black." But we see other stuff (like At Last performances, etc.) and we say "Damn she is soulful."
jakecaluvr
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:40 PM
i think i can semi agree there. the song is literally saying, SEX, while the clothes were saying SEX appeal so... lol. does that make sense?!
jakecaluvr
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:41 PM
OK you win charlie, youre right about that!

Jul 28th, 2001, 10:48 PM
Everybody sees
the LM vid and says "white girl trynna be black.
Not necessarily. She's always had a pretty strong African-American fanbase. Most like myslef recognize the soul in her voice. Many did even before LM came out.

Jul 28th, 2001, 10:50 PM
youre welcome, and i figured! anyways, i think i do semi agree with ya chritinafan2000 (was that the sn or was that in my head!?) lol.
christinasSANTAboy
Jul 28th, 2001, 10:52 PM
ok, i take back "everybody" but a lot of people who ARENT fans of Xtinas say that. You are a fan of hers so of course yer gonna say that.
I love it no matter what.

i guess i'm the only one that thought Christina's singing was "soulful" in the songs "Somebody's Somebody", "So Emotional", "Love for all Seasons" and "Obvious", not just songs like "At Last" and LM
i know what some of you are thinking, that being "soulful" has got something to do with singing the rythem and blues and only that genre of music, or that it means how loud or soft one sings, how well controlled, or even the look on their faces generated by how much they fight for every last note, well, it's not
being "soulful" is how much emotion you depict in your singing, how much you feel the song your singing and in turn giving that song a life of its own, that which has an emotional impact on those that listen to it
anyone that can sing can belt out a song, but if you can't feel anything from it, or make others feel anything from it, that's all your doing, belting out a song, i'm sure u could get a computer to do that now a days
ChristinaFan2000
Jul 28th, 2001, 11:15 PM
I'm not saying this because I'm a fan. It's a general observation. I've seen many people who may not be fans of her music take notice to the soul in her voice.
ChristinaFan2000
Jul 28th, 2001, 11:17 PM
I agree Emerald_Dragon. I thought all those songs displayed soul. Especially "Love For All Seasons".
jakecaluvr
Jul 28th, 2001, 11:20 PM
i noticed the soul in the songs you mentioned, all im saying is that before ITTY and at last, really noone ever heard it, and also with LM because of what she puts into it1 thats all.
Emerald_Dragon
Jul 28th, 2001, 11:25 PM
aye, they are, i just find it funny how too many ppl associate having "soul" with only R&B, the more depressing or sad the song, the more soul, but they don't realize, y to many it seems that way...depression and sadness are the most easy to define and relate with emotions, so they must mean when someone is being "soulful", they forget, there is a whole slew of other emotions, lol
jakecaluvr
Jul 28th, 2001, 11:28 PM
i see your point
Emerald_Dragon
Jul 28th, 2001, 11:32 PM
aye jake, but the singles played before itty, being giab and wagw, there really isn't any emotional attachment to those songs, so i could understand y ppl would think that, and Christina mentioned it herself, she didn't want giab to be her first single out, no doubt for this reason, giab makes her out to be just like Spears, and she's most certainly not
but there was reflection before itty, ppl should have gotten a good taste of what was to come from that one
Emerald_Dragon
Jul 28th, 2001, 11:34 PM
sorry, i'm a lil slow on postings, heh, my first post ya saw was to ChristinaFan2000, a reply, the last one was to yer comment
i'm jumping between two boards here, this and one for Neverwinter Nights, i'm like talking to 4 ppl, lol
ChristinaFan2000
Jul 28th, 2001, 11:35 PM
That's true. I'll admit when Christina first came out with "Genie In A Bottle" I thought she had a "Nice" voice but not really impressive. Then I heard "I Turn To You" and "Reflection" and I became a big fan. I don't think GIAB displayed just how vocally talented Christina is.
jakecaluvr
Jul 28th, 2001, 11:37 PM
i was a fan when GIAB first came out, cause i saw the huge potential...
Emerald_Dragon
Jul 29th, 2001, 12:12 AM
i became intregued when i heard "Reflection" in the background while my family was watching Mulan
i became further intregued when i heard giab and wagw over the radio, at which i hadn't seen her yet
then i saw giab on Much Music, i pulled off a "WHOA" any surfer dude would have been proud of, lol
that's when i became completely fixiated on her, that same day i got her album and she became my #1 solo vocalist
that was also the same day my at the time quiet natural habit of singing burst into flames, that girl is inspiring, hearing that powerful and well controlled a voice come from such a small frame
goes to show, good things come in small packages...VEEERRRY good things 8-)
