The 2nd Annual 2001 Christina Aguilera Live Daily Awards ! (read all of this to vote)

Hello everyone :)

My name is Mark for those of you who don’t know me. I am the host and main facilitator of the Live Daily Christina Aguilera Forum awards. This is the second year of these annual awards and I am hoping to get a little more involvement from this forum as a whole than I did from last years awards. These awards aren’t difficult to participate in. All you have to do is copy the information inside the dotted lines (below), click the blue button under this post that says PM on it, paste that information into the Private Message area, and choose the members for each category. I would appreciate it if all of you would vote for who you think did the best job over the past year in each of the categories. That is it. It would be nice if when you vote, you can include a quote or description on why you voted for that person. Like last year, I will include the quotes in the results. I think makes the awards a little more entertaining.

In order to run these awards as efficiently as possible, there has to be some ground rules. These are very simple to understand and follow:

Rule #1: All votes must be messaged (PM’ed) to me. They must not be posted in this thread, they must not be messaged to any of the assistants who are helping me or anyone else and they must not be emailed to me. By having the votes for the awards pm’ed, this protects privacy and allows each member to vote for whoever they want to without anyone else knowing or causing any hard feelings in the process. The only person who knows who votes for who in these awards is me. I do not use this information against anyone so there is no reason to be skeptical. Also, I record the votes for each person and not who voted for whom when I tally the votes.

Consequence: If you post your votes in this topic or message them to any other member, they will be immediatley disqualified.

Rule #2: You can’t vote for yourself. Sorry, other members only.

Consequence: If you vote for yourself, that vote will not count. Use your vote wisely and choose someone other than yourself. If you expect to win a category, you’ll need more members to vote for you than just yourself.

Rule #3: Choose 1 member for each category. (except for category 22 where you will choose 1 male member and 1 female member. Don’t get me started on why we need one male and one female for category 22. Once you read it, you will understand what I mean)

Consequence: If you vote for more than one member (except for #22) the first member will count and all subsequent members after that will be ignored. This same rule applies if you vote for members that have the same gender in category 22.

Rule #4: Don’t try to plead or hint that you would like a vote, especially in this topic.

Consequence: People should be voting for who they think is the BEST in each category, not who pleads the most for them to vote otherwise. True everyone would like to win a category, myself included, but sometimes this just doesn't happen. That’s nothing to be sad about and certainly doesn't make you less of a person, it just means in the public's opinion someone else might have done a better job. That’s all.

You can vote for these awards any time between now and September 1st, however, I would prefer if you voted in them as soon as you could. On September 2nd, any final votes will be totaled and the results will be put on a website for you guys to see.

Last year only 18 members participated, I hope more people will participate in the awards this year, your votes make for awards that are more exciting and interesting. I also hope the moderators might consider voting as well (**cough**Nik**cough**Mike**cough** :p)

Tomorrow I am going to a college interview, so this is why the awards are starting a day in advance. The day after that, I am going on vacation and will be unavailable until possibly the 10th or 11th at the earliest, the 12th at the latest, we’ll see how it goes. During that time, Michelle (michj12) was kind enough to offer to help me out. Basically the only help I need with these awards while I am gone is for this topic to be bumped, so it is on the first page as much as possible. You all know that this forum gets hundreds of posts each day, so keeping this topic on top might require a little extra effort, but in the end it will highly benefit these awards. If any of you would like to help me with these awards and bump this topic along with Michelle, I would greatly appreciate that. :)

Dear Matt,
This sounds pointless, I can't even remember anyone's user name! I don't know how many hours I'd have to stay here to determine the personas of every member--kinda a bad idea there.

This "awards" thingy so pointless. First of all, the first awards were in Novemeber/December and having them 8 months later is kinda inconsistant. It should be left there because thats when Christina's album will be released thus more traffic to the offical site and thus more new members here. There will be a lot of members then, than there are here today thus more voting.

Second of all, the only people what will be nominated will be people who have a million posts and conversate in topics all day. People like DreamyEyes, Martin, Eitte, Didi, Janience, Jay, Bix, just_christina, etc. No offense to any of these people. I expect Bix to sweep the awards anyway.

Third of all, no one will remember who won anything. Someone will ask who won "Best Website" two weeks later and no one will remember.

Fourth of all, the people with a few hundred posts will be forgotten including the ones who just post news articles etc.

Fifth of all, no one really knows anybody here outside of the computer the personalities here are strikingly deceiving.

Sixth of all, this is a Christina Aguilera board not a popularity contest.

Seventh of all, only 15 people voted last time. How does that makeup the whole board for ginuwine winners?

Eighth of all, no one remembers or attempts to remember anyone's username so therefore they'd have to go back 8 or 9 pages (this is going back two days) just to see what that person said and who has the kind of time?

Nineth of all, the person in charge of this award show obviously has no life what so ever because he will be counting votes all day which will only 30 or so but she/he won't know this because he's praying for more votes.

Tenth of all, people can easily cheat by voting more than once or re-registering a million times. Where are the security issues?

Eleventh of all, this is dumb. :)

The people who are nominated is who everyone chooses. You vote, I don't so peopel who don't have as many posts can still be nominated and win if they are voted enough.

People will remember who won things because the results are on a website, I have mentioned this numerous times before. Last years url to the awards has not changed to this is also an untrue statement.

18 people voted last time, not 15. If peopel didn't vote, thats not my problem, only theirs because people who won last time did so on a fewer number of votes.

The people who are chosen are mainly peoples friends on the board. I don't expect anyone todo any kind of research for these awards.

I'm not praying for anything and I can bet I have more of a life than you have by making a fool out of yourself posting this stupid-ass post. If you don't like what I am doing, why post something negative and make yourself look stupid in the process?

Nobody is going to make more usernames for this awards, even thinking about that is ridiculous.

These awards are supposed to be fun, stop taking them so damn seriously. If you don't want to partake in the fun, stop ruining it for others.

good point, it is supposed to be about the awards, yet for some reason this topic has become a haven for insults.

Nautica: I'm through with arguing. True I could sit here and argue some more but I have other more important things to do. However...

I do have one question though, you claim your so smart and are experienced in so many things, yet for some reason you decide to reply to a post which pertains to some awards which you aren't even interested in participating in, with what intent? if it was to call attention to the fact that you think I'm a looser for running these awards, why didn't you just pm me? Its funny, I post something a month before outlining this whole thing and barely anyone bothers to read it. Also I got all positive feedback. Now I post the actual things and I have people here trying to bring it down for some reason. I thought I made it clear that the reason I have done this in the past was for people to have a little fun, though I was taking it seriously, I wasn't taking it too seriously. I hope you guys won't either.

For the record, I do actually have a life. I run many things on the internet and moderate and administrate a variety of bulliten boards, just like you do. I have been working on the latest one (in development) for 7 months now. I take honors and ap classes in school (mostly anyway) and went to boys state this past year. I hold a steady job, work with kids who are less fortunate than I am and am part of the student council. I also happen to be in the Tri-M Music Honor Society if you know what that is. Are you trying to tell me that I have no life just because I am trying to do something fun to spice up this board? I surley hope not.

To all of you who have voted, let me express my sincere thanks for making these awards better this year. I really do appreciate it :)

things are going good here, what about you? the usual, school work, summer home work, work-work (at my job) and work on the board (as usual, like you didn't expect me to say that! :p). We just upgraded to beta build version 4.3, which is good because its getting more stable. There is a release taht makes the software mroe stable just about each week, which is good. Hopefully our graphic designer will come back SOON so we can start making more progress.

As of now me and Mike (one other admin) are working on teh rules and figuring out hosting and domains. Currently we are looking at http://www.phpwebhosting.com to host the site instead of http://www.favoritecafe.net and are looking at http://www.000domains.com to register our domain name. We are currently working on teh details. The rules should be all set by tomorrow so we can divert our attention to other matters that need attention.

We just hacked teh board and allowed users to change the size, type and color of their fonts. Pretty cool, huh? :)

Other than that I've just been packing for vacation (on thursday) and getting some school stuff together (got my schedule today with the changes made)

The swimming thing is done. Our season ended with a final championship meet of like 40 teams in which our team got 1st overall (it's all the coaching of course). jk Yah but that's about it. I'm working during the day but it's going by REALLY slow.................

Yes he got married at the beginning of June as a matter of fact, then had his honeymoon. i don't know where he is right now and I'm getting a little worried to be honest with you. I"m going to give him till the beginning of the school year and then I guess we'll proceed without him...we'll see what happens.
