Well, needless to say WHAT A NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where do I begin, guess at the start, huh?
Well, I had posted that I was NOT going to be attending the show due to my girlfriend's brothers wedding that same day. Bad timing if I do say so. But, I did give my cell phone number to Janie, Annie, Marybeth(Jukebox from GL), & Rich.......just in case they heard anything.
Well after having a GREAT time at the wedding, my girlfriend & I both got into my car(about 5:30pm) and there I had seen I had a phone call from firerich. Well, I decided to play the message over the speaker phone. There during the message rich says
"Hey copper, down here in Asbury at the festival, guess who played here for an hour? Hope he shows up at the Pony tonight. Hope you had great time at the wedding. See Ya!!!!!!"
Well after hearing that, my girlfriend turns to me, and says, "I forgot that tonight was the concert. Why don't you go drop me off and drive down to the show and have great time"!
WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Asbury Park, here I come(only 2 1/2 hours)
I then called Rich & Janie and said that I was on my way, keep me informed.
Rich called me and then told me that Bruce was in the building, and here I am about 1/2 hour before the start of the show, and at least an hour away from the Pony.
Wel...fast forward to me getting to the Pony(FINALLY)!!
There is MaryBeth and Rich waiting at the front door with a beer for me(which was surely needed). They told me that Bruce hadnt gone on yet, and that everyone was outside. So I proceeded to go outside where I first ran into phillygirl & Dan. said hello to both of them and then went to say hello to Janie.
Well after seeing them, who is coming my way.........BRUCE!!!! Thats right, here he is heading straight for me. So, I stuck out my hand, and he shook it, I then told Bruce that I was the NYC Policeman that held up the sign at the Garden. He turned and looked at me....smiled..pointed with both his index fingers, laughed, and said "YOUR THE MAN!!!!!!!" After I said, thank you, he said your welcome, and then walked away.
Well....after recovering from the shock of that I decided it was time to go to the back and say HELLO to Tony(Bocci).
There he was in the back of the bar and what is the first thing he says "Where is my hat"????? Well, had to tell him he would get it and something else in September. We then started talking and were being bothered by some extremely DRUNK guy(sonny??). Bocci looked at me, and asked me to get rid of this guy.....so I went with Sonny and went back outside.
At this point Nils was ending his first set, and the crowd was going NUTS.
Here comes Bruce......and they play their little set.
Then after they were done I immedialty went to the back where Bocci was, and who else, none other than firerich.
Bocci told both Rich and I that Bruce was coming out, and we werent gonna let anyone in........ummmmmmm OK.
Bruce comes out and procedes to the corner of the bar with Bocci, Rich and I. I then ask the bartender to give me 3 shots of CHILLED Tequilla. He pours the shots, and places them in front of Bruce. Bruce asks who they were for, and I tell him that we were going to do a shot with him.
Bruce then hands Rich & I the shots and says good luck to both of us. We do the shots(did I mention I HATE te KILL ya), and Bruce says "thanks for the shot".
Bruce then turns around and starts to say hello to fans and stuff.
Bocci then gets Bruce, and asks him if he knew who I was? Bruce turned around, then looked at me, then Bocci says that I was the NYC Policeman. Bruce turns and looks and me, offers his hand, and says "Thanks, thanks a lot." And after I thanked him, he said "No problem"
I then turned around to see if anyone has a camera, and then lo & behold there's annie with a camera
Bruce then decides its way to crazy, and he turns to leave, and I ask him if i can get a pix? He says "Sure, not a problem" Rich then says he wanted to be in the pix too....and Bruce more than willing to take a picture with a policeman & fireman. :-)
We turn to face Annie, and she forgot to turn on the flash on. OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!! Bruce says he has to leave, and I thanked him again. He said "maybe next time".
Marsha(THANK YOU) then grabs the camera from Annie, and says hold on. Bruce stops, then Bruce, Annie, and I turn to face the camera. Bruce is standing to my left, and he starts to stand on his tippy toes, and pushing out his chest, trying to make himself look bigger. Then Marsha snaps the photo(hope it comes out). I then thank Bruce, he said "Your quite welcome" And off he goes into the waiting arms of the lovely Marsha.
Well, I then thank Annie for her camera, and of course Bocci.
Without his help this absolutley magical night would have never happened.
Well, actually, the story doesnt end there......i did make it to the VIP section with Bruce, but another story for another day. Actually, not that exciting.
But, it was great night, and I am so ESTATIC that I was able to spend it with my extended family.
It was GREAT seeing all of you, and for those that I didnt get to see, there's always Clarence:-)
