First of all we should know who is gonna hang the billboard and where. In other words, who lives whereever Shelly lives? (I always forget the name of the town...)
And who's gonna take charge of the money? how can we be sure that all our money is gonna be spent on the billboard and not in something else?
Like I said before, I wouldn't mind paying it all and doing all the work myself but I don't live close to Shelly (just an ocean away) so I need to find someone with my whole trust to do it. Who will that person be?

I agree with Cynthia. I would need details first...people have tried this before (planning to "split" the costs of a billboard) and they ended up with 48 bucks from teenyboppers sending them 2 dollars a piece...hardly enough for a billboard, which usually runs about $3000-$5000 a quarter (no, you don't just put a billboard up for a week or two, the ad company will laugh at you). Matt's billboard was awesome and was due to a network of contacts that he had to accomplish it... I do applaud your excitement, but I don't see the practical side of it...

Just thought I would pop in and add my 2 cents if that is ok. I organized the first two billboards for us here at Live Daily:

1) Each billboard cost $575.00 us dollars

2) Each billboard was up for one week

3) The guys at the billboard company (Pittsburgh branch office) were really happy to help us. They thought it was a cool idea.

4) The happy 20th birthday billboard was located in Wexford, Pennsylvania USA (a couple minutes from Christina's family house).

5) The only problem I see (if it is ok to express my opinion) is who would collect the funds?

I think the only people who should collect funds for this project is Christina's management. If they agreed to collect the funds for you then maybe you guys could have a page on Christina's website with instructions on how to donate money to make this project happen. I think it would be cool if the fund was called We Love Christina Aguilera, so when you make out a check it would be made out to We Love Christina Aguilera Fund (just my opinion). If by chance you do not make enough to do the billboard thing maybe the funds that were collected could be donated to Christina's domestic abuse fund in your names. That would be a cool option in case you do not get enough funds to do the billboard thing and then it would be easier on Christina's management (they would not have to return the funds then and you would still be really doing a nice thing). If I could make a suggestion. I would email Mr. Al Gomes and tell him what you want to do and see if he would pass the email onto Christinas manager. Why would Christinas managment participate in this project (think about it for a minute)?
How cool is it that fans go to this much trouble to show their love and appreciation for Christina and Shelly. They could not buy that kind of advertising. I think this project is doable. Cazz and the rest of you guys if I could say one thing to you it would be GO FOR IT you will not regrete it, I guarentee it. I have to go now my mother had major back surgery and I am helping her out alot with things because she cant do much. I wish you guys the best and I think Christina and Shelly will love it. You will probably make them cry tears of joy. I know it will mean alot.

Thanks for posting Matt. It sheds a light on the time and effort it takes to do this. Did you use Outdoor Systems/Infinity or a smaller private billboard company? My concern also revolves around the collection of the money. Even at $575 a board, that's still a lot of money for people to contribute and collect...

The point of the billboard is to surprise Shelly and Christina, so it wouldn't make sense to have Shelly or anyone with the fan club collect it, so that wouldn't really leave any options...I can't see Irving opening up $1 letters from some lovestruck 13 year old Christina fan and accounting for it...I still think sponsorship is the best idea (having a company contribute a large portion for us and give them a part to advertise on)...what are your ideas cazz? You're the organizer...

I think you should work out the details in this post instead of pm's so
that everyone who is interested can view the progress of this project.
If you are asking my opinion, I would say the first step would be to
try to contact Christina's management for permission. You can not
collect funds using Christina's name without permission. So an email to
Mr. Gomes would be our first step.
