Love you Dari! Cool picture. There's just too many captions to choose from. Here's a few I like:

"No retreat, Baby, no surrender".
"You can get killed just for living in your American skin".
"I'm caught in a crossfire that I don't understand".
"Faith will be rewarded".
"This is your hometown".
"You'll need a good companion for this part of the ride".
"It takes a leap of faith to get things going".

Well - I have two thoughts here - strangely enough, neither are Bruce lyrics.......

The long one (maybe too long for printing?)

"America, America
God shed His grace on thee
And crowned thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea"

The short one:

"FROM EVERY MOUNTAINSIDE
LET FREEDOM RING!!!!!"
(I really like this one)

Of Bruce's lyrics I'm with Toots & Robinia and like the line from Reason To Believe......

these are all so great. really, i never expected to get so many great ideas. the problem is i have no clue what i like the most but i am already late for work so i think we should have a run off over the weekend. i have been searching for that picture since i got home. (sorry he has no feet, zeph, but we were right under the stage...well maybe not so sorry) i will try to find another for the back so that we can use one on the front and one on the back too. won't be as good as this one though. i love this shot.

well i tried to narrow this down but it is very hard. some great suggestions but i would defiitely want it to have a bruce connection so i wanted his words to be part of what ever was over/under the picture. also as a design, you don't
want to use too many words as it loses it's meaning on a tee.
i liked paulie's suggestion too but don't want the connection to someone's ad campaign for this.

after last night i definitely want the back to have the words to "my city of ruins" with the words "come on and rise up" in larger font at the bottom. hopefully i can take the picture that sadiiz posted off of the net and use that picture on the back.

please let me know what you think works best with this picture.

1) No retreat, Baby, no surrender

2) USA.... Still the Land of Hope and Dreams

3) U.S.A.
Tougher Than The Rest

4) From This Hard Land, there is NO Surrender

5) So walk tall
or baby don't walk at all

6) Good will conquer evil
the truth will set you free

7) Let Freedom Ring

8) If I should fall behind, fight for me.

what i plan to do with this is make it into a tee and offer it to bruce fans with part of the profit (over and above what it costs me in material and time) to go to maybe the children of the guy jrzgrl posted about...the bruce fan....if we can find them. this is a very busy time for me so the tees couldn't go out until i finish designing my spring line but already tooth fairy and lonestar girl have volunteered to help.

so let me know what you think and which line we should use.

"No retreat, baby, no surrender"

Even though I submitted #8,
Ali's is my first pick.

extraordinarily appropriate,

I of course choose my selection:

from this hard land, there is NO surrender

.....thought of a new one...is it to late?

well.......dont know if its in good taste, but popped into my head while listening to a boot.

P.S. I think, "No retreat, baby, no surrender," fits the image the best, too.

And what a fantastic idea about where the proceeds should go.
If anyone can reach this lady, we should let her know about the sentiments on this site.
It might be comforting.

And let me know when everyone's humor level returns,
cuz, Billy, I thought of many Bruce-related captions, myself, that I didn't dare post right now.
Glad you opened the door, though.

Hey, dari, maybe we could send a special finished shirt to Mrs. Berger
with the small, handwritten addition of:

"Jim Berger

And I'd be happy to contribute toward the cost of production and postage.

brucenut

you're fast! thanks for all of your hard work in contacting the family of jim berger. if they contact you that will be great. if not... i think we might have to give people some time and space if we can. i am not sure any of these people have had time to come to grips with all of this and there have to be those who are stil holding onto hope for their loved ones. i don't want to approach them too soon. don't know how the rest of you feel about that. i imagine it is too hard on one hand but really too easy for us to put ourselves in their place. besides it will give me and everyone who is gonna help with this, time to figure out the best way to go about this. as i mentioned before i need time to design my spring line (half of my yearly income) and ship orders that i need to get out for fall/xmas. i print these up by hand one at a time so it's very time consuming for me and i need the time to do it. i've already asked someone if she could handle the emails names..addresses..orders...etc. it will take a little time to get it going and i want to offer it first to the people on LD then greaseylake and if we can handle it the rest of the bruce community online. if it gets too big i can set up a silk screener to handle it.

maybe we can help a few of the families of bruce fans who died on 9-11. it won't support them forever but it will let them know we care.
