Hi everyone
Just back from Red Bank and round II of what will go down as two memorable nights of great shows at the Jersey Shore.
Friday's show was almost identical to Thursday's with only a few changes.
John Eddie played a couple songs earlier in the show but outside of that it was basically the same set and same order as Thursday' show.
Just some tidbids: Bruce's mom and aunt were sitting in the front row on the right side of the stage. When Bruce came down toward that end during "Thunder Road" he yelled out "Mom!"
Obie was at the show also, not sitting in the front row, but back in front of the soundboard
Bruce played an extra song with Sonny Burgess tonight, but only on the guitar. He sang "Tiger Rose" with him again and then stayed on to play guitar on the next song.
Bruce again played with Joe Ely and Joan Jett (an absolutely awesome Light of Day for the second straight night).
Bruce was wearing this Havana baseball cap that said something above the Havana which I couldn't make out even from the second row. I'll have to check the tape of the show to see what it said
Bruce came out without a cap for his own set which was exactly the same as Thursday. Just as Bruce came on, a NYPD officer (off duty) who was at the show tried to jump onstage to give Bruce a cap, he was immediately stopped by security. It was a nice gesture on his part but he went about doing it the wrong way.
Bruce's set was Bobby Jean, My City of Ruins (he mentioned that the song was written for Asbury Park), Land of Hope and Dreams (someone mentioned to me that they thought it was one of the best versions they ever heard, it was pretty intense), Thunder Road with Patti singing backup vocals and then the finale.
During the final jam with all the musicians for "Stand By Me" our own Billy from LI tossed Patti two NYPD caps, Patti put one on and she hande the other one to Bruce who wore it backward.
The show ended a little bit earlier tonight, around 12:20 a.m. and we milled around up by the stage as Bruce was talking to the other musicians, taking pictures.
Max and Garry came to the front of the stage and signed autographs for those who wanted them. Bruce didn't shake hands tonight but was on stage talking with a lot of people, and he signed a guitar for a fireman.
Geraldo Rivera gave a short speech right before Bruce came on stage. He and the local newspaper he owns (Two River Times) donated $50,000 to the families of the victims.
Once again, Bon Jovi was the second act to play and neither Jon or Richie Sambora were around at the end for the final jam on "Stand By Me."
We hung around the front of the theater for a little while after the show ended and Joan Jett came out and signed autographs for us. She was very nice.
Once again, many Live Daily friends were in attendance including Billy, CW Gourmet (who flew up from Florida), The famous Dr. T, Dirty Annie, Scoot Big Man, Rosie from GL, Patti M, and quite a few others whose names I'm missing.
I came home, checked my VCRs and I do have the show on tape.
Yes that was Billy you saw a few times on TV and I saw that I got some TV time also, hopping during Land of Hope and Dreams. I had awesome seats tonight, second-row dead center. I guess getting up at 5 a.m. the day they went on sale was worth it, plus two very special friends got to share the two-row experience with me.
Il put another post on this board about getting a copy of the video which I will be happy to make for everyone.
Thanks for reading.
