ISOJ has asked us what we want Santa to give us, but ask not what Santa can do for you....etc.

What unique, imaginative, and awe-inspiring gifts have you purchased or plan to purchase for the lucky ones in your life? Do you expect the reaction to match the effort when purchasing?

Besides Ellen and Mike, I don't think you'll spoil any surprises. Heck, maybe you'll help out somebody else with their list.

iggy's going to have his whole family swimming in their own tears when it's present opening time at casa de igmeister.

I've put absolutely no thought into presents this year. Usually by December 7th I not only have them all purchased, but they're wrapped and under the tree. This year I have one present under the tree. The Lego castle. Had to lie to my kid and say it was a hockey game for his cousin Alex. Didn't even bother to put a bow on the damn thing either. Pathetic.

Ah lying...the great Christmas tradition. One shake will shatter your secret about the lego castle.

Hmmm...well, I wouldn't call it unique or imaginative but I got my brother-in-law the Godfather DVD Collection & The Sopranos Second Season DVD. I think he will enjoy them.

Luckily, I did all my shopping on the internet and finished it at the end of October. I have neither the time nor the energy to do it now....

He was shaking the box when he asked what it was and who it was for. That's why I had to lie. I figured a game with little hockey player pieces could potentially sound similar to legos...

He fell for it, hook line and sinker. My sweet innocent child, getting lied to... right in the eye.

Shooooot.

LOL @ iggy! You're right. My lips are sealed. I know my mikey is lurking out there.

It just seems like a family/nesting kind of year. Had lots of old pictures scanned, cleaned, put in sepia tones and framed for the family. The person who did it for me is brilliant at it.

Restoration Hardware has the softest blanket you've ever felt...another good at home gift for some on my list. And when all else fails, they get wine. I think I can find a bottle or two lying around.

Have you thought about wrapping up a few boxes of kleenex to go with these photographs, ig? They'll appreciate them.

That is, of course, unless your family is full of a bunch of cold hearted robots.

I know, you were hoping I'd say snakes. Cold hearted snakes. Go Paula...

I really like this Barbie -- actually Fashion Courtney (Skipper's friend) -- that I've got for my cousin's daughter. She's cool.

The other really neat gift I've got for somebody is this book full of album cover art from the 50s thru the 90s for this friend of mine who has a huge record collection. For anyone else, this gift would suck, but I think it's great for him.

My brother and I are getting our parents an answering machine, among other things, because we just can't take it anymore!

I'm having a calendar made of Princess V. Twelve-months of her for the grandparents. Look she's in the snow! Look, she's having fun in April showers... you get the idea. I think they'll love it.

For the princess herself, she wants Bob The Builder Lego. Got it. Also the Barbie Nutcracker (poor Ken). Got it as well as the movie.

Oh and an Easy-Bake Oven. I still have scars from burning my hand pulling out the pan, but now they have a friendly little gadget which pulls the pan out of the lightbulb oven. Ah progress.

I did order a book for mr. v over the internet and the author is supposed to sign it. We'll see about that.

And we're getting the in-laws a new cordless phone because we're sickof ... hello? Someone there? Hello? Can you hear me ... each time you call them.

Oh Vester, I LOVED my ezbake oven! I actually stopped in front of the display when I was in Wally World the other day and contemplated purchasing one for myself. Then I remembered I was an adult, and moved on to the *NSYNC barbie dolls :b

I had to get creative this year. Mom's getting a scarf I've been knitting for the past 2 weeks, and since she collects angels, a variety of angel ornaments I've been collecting for a while. Dad's gonna think he's getting a kiddie book about arctic polar bears, but inside is a gift certificate to Amazon.com. Since he loves gadgets, he's getting this nifto-neaty little multi-tool thing that's the size of a credit card and fits in the wallet. I'm kicking in with the parents to buy my sister and her hubby a camping stove. There's a few other things I'm working on too, so hopefully I'll be done by Christmas. . .

It is a Harry Potter Christmas at our house... got the lego castle for my daughter, got a Harry Potter train set for my son (I didn't know there was a lego one, so I got a regular one, but I doubt I would've found the lego one anyway). My daughter is also getting the Harry Potter Playstation game... they have rented it and love it! Still looking for the game boy color game. My son is getting the Norbert dragon (it is so cute).

Did you know there are Harry Potter jelly beans that are really flavored like they say in the movies? Still looking for them for the stocking.

I haven't shopped for anyone else, except for the Bathroom Readers calendar for my Dad.

Harry Potter train (lego one) is at Toys R Us in Minnetonka on the northeast corner of the 494/394 intersection!

 They really have it! Road Trip! :D

I haven't really looked for it because I already have the other one, but the lego one is actually less than the one I bought.

I guess I will just keep the one I have. :(

Did you get any of the smaller sets of Legos to go with the castle? I am debating on how many we should have. That is a lot of legos!

insearchofjason
Dec 7th, 2001, 12:45 PM
Please call before you drive... I know they had it two days ago, but I don't know if they still do! I was thinking about a small Lego set or two for the stocking, but shoot... doesn't the big castle have all that stuff included? For the price, it should.

Must get the Harry Potter jellybeans! Where on earth do you find them?

jennsync28
Dec 7th, 2001, 12:49 PM
I was just joking about the road trip... :D

I haven't found the jelly beans yet but read about them so hopefully I will find them. I'll let you know where I find them if I do. Maybe somewhere online will have them.

I saw online that there is shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc so I'll be looking for that for the stocking too.

How old are your kid(s)... mine are 9 and 6. That are really into Harry Potter..

Due to the odd shapes of most of my gifts, I've opted for gift bags. Robbery. I'm spending more on wrapping than the gifts. And fie upon Target...lines out the door in the middle of a weekday. No thanks.

I only like Harry Potter as a friend.

Speaking of Target and giftbags, I got some really cute ones there on sale a couple of weeks ago for 99 cents . . . . bought 'em out.

Don't you all have like a "Dollar Zone" or "Everythings A Dollar"...thats the best place to buy gift bags...even the HUGE ones...only a Dollar...

Twin 1 is getting 5 Resident Evil action figures that I purchased off of ebay...and a Dale Earnhardt clock that I purchased at Target. He's getting a bunch of Cd's too...and some videos.Twin 2 is harder to buy for....bought several wrestling videos at WWF.com and some CD's and videos. They both have a new jacket too.Thats it so far.

LJ would see it again.
LJ's friend that's spending the night tonight would probably dig it.

Hey we could see it tonight! Why not just make it the SOP for Saturday night?

But I have to ask...am I one of only 3 people on earth who is not at all attracted to George Clooney? I never could stand him on ER...

LJK
Dec 9th, 2001, 12:03 PM
I know a lot of women who don't like George. I don't get Brad Pitt. I just prefer the dark hair/dark eyes thing. And I love George's voice. But I'm not one of those peeps who gets upset if you don't find him attractive.

insearchofjason

George has nice eyes, but other than that, I have to agree with Sunny. The man does nothing for me.

Now on the other hand, that McIrish guy...

vester
Dec 9th, 2001, 05:32 PM
I'm with you, Brad Pitt, while cute, doesn't do it for me.
Now George Clooney, how much fun would it be to hang out with him? I think he'd be a riot. Plus, he'd pick up the bar tab and tell you all kinds of funny stories.

insearchofjason
Dec 9th, 2001, 05:52 PM
Well I've never actually SEEN this McIrish guy... except for the time he followed me at Clearwater, but that's another show... but I'm going to go out on a limb and say he's hotter than both Brad Pitt and George Clooney combined!

If Brad and George were to produce offspring, it would look like McShake. Yeah, that's it... McShake looks like the child of two men.

Hot.
