Why isn't this on the other message boards? How many times have we had Britney, *N'Stync, etc. visitors over at our board? This wouldn't hurt to be on all the boards.

They'd do the online petition in between talking about Justin and Britney being virgins.

And get the thread stuck up on the top for them too.

When filling out the online petition.....

You only need to fill out the name and address/country
Age would be nice for sampling purposes.

You do not need to fill out the phone number or email if you do not feel comfortable with that.

So lets not let anything keep us from filling the petition out!!!!

Bocci - Just curious... Where on earth are they thinking of re-locating the Stone Pony? What streets? Just curious....

They want to stick it on the south end of the Boardwalk, near the casino. Where exactly? I have no clue.

Thanks! I just signed the petition... I'm so glad that I can do SOMETHING to try to help! I have never had the good fortune to visit the Stone Pony, but I feel that legend and sentiment more than dictate the need to keep it right where it is. When I DO get there, I know I'll be able to feel the power and the mystery of all that history! Peace and good luck!

Bocci

I signed the petition this morning. Now, let's hope they are listening. It would seem obvious to me that, not only is the redevelopment of Asbury an 100% necessity, so is the restoration of those places of historical significance in Asbury a 100% must. Developers tend to forget this part of the equation. They must be reminded that these places, in and of themselves, spark tourism and business growth. They should note, too, that many of us to whom these places are important are of an age and financial status to spend money and a fair amount of it. Mayhap they should consider that when building their condos. After all, they may lose some buyers if they implement this current plan.

Diane (aka Candy)

PS sorry for the little tirade, I just can't understand how these people think.

A Message from Asbury Park City Councilwoman Kate Mellina
Greetings from....the usual place!

Most of you know that we're working on a beachfront redevelopment plan for Asbury Park right now, and many of you know that the developers would like to demolish the current Stone Pony and relocate it elsewhere in Asbury Park, since they would like to build residential units in that area.

As many of you also know, the Stone Pony is asking people to sign a petition, saying that they want the Stone Pony to stay where it is.

I would like to urge you to sign it this week, if you haven't already, and to ask your friends to sign it, as well. Our new city planners will be doing some high-intensity planning work with our redevelopment partners during the week of January 15-23, and it is important for your voice to be heard before then.

People in town have said that they want to save Asbury Park's heritage along the beachfront, but there is very little left to save: the Paramount/Convention Hall, the Howard Johnson's, Madam Marie's, the Stone Pony, and the already battered Palace and Casino.

I personally don't feel that we can afford to lose any of it and still claim to be the Asbury Park that so many people remember.

Please spread the word.

Thank you,

Kate Mellina
