Okay...
I think she looks gorgeous, but I, myself, am not too fond of a few of the outfits...

But, I think Maxim is about as classy as a men's mag can get. The pics could've been much worse. I mean, I've seen RS have raunchier shoots...:o

I liked the FHM ones better. I don't like her hair and makeup in these ones. She still looks good though.

Does anyone have the article?

I still don't see why her publicity people or whoever decides these things thinks it's necessary to do these types of photo shoots for those types of magazines. But, those pics aren't that bad. They could be much worse.

I'm not posting this to bash her, I'm a FAN who is disappointed by that. Sure, it could have been a lot worse, but I wish she wouldn't do things like that. :(

Thank you, stringbean (It sounds really weird saying that LMAO), for not bashing. :) Maybe the article will change your mind a bit...

Maxim: Are you shooting for a sexier image with this album?

Jessica: Well, it's not like I sat down and said "I've got to change my image." I'm just more grown-up now, and I've become more sophsticated. I don't think I'm any dfferent than any other 21 year old.

Maxim: Do you feel sexier?

Jessica: My sexiness comes from a newfound confidence. When you're younger, you struggle with self-esteem, especially when pictures of you are everywhere. Once you feel that you've grown into your body and your mind, your confidence level goes a lot higher. I think my sexiness exudes from that. There are always people who think "Oh, that's too sex," and others who that think "Oh, it's not sexy enough." But it's most important to satisfy yourself.

Maxim: Do you see more guys in your audience now?

Jeesica: Yeah, there are lots of guys. In fact, I've gotten a lot of marriage proposals in the last year. One even happened onstage! There's this part in my show where I pull a guy out of the audience and sing to him. And right in front of thousands of people, he dropped to one knee and proposed! He had this whole speech prepared. I was, like "Oh, my God! What do I do right now?" So I just sort of gave him a hug and kept going.

Maxim: Pretty big consolation prize. How does that rank on the performance embarassment meter?

Jessica: I'm really clumsy, so I trip and fall a lot. And every time I perform in New York, my pants split onstage. That's happened four or five times. Every time, I pull my mom's jeans as fast as I can, so there we are standing backstage without our pants on. It's like a curse.

Maxim: We saw a photo of you wearing a Van Halen T-Short. Are you a closet metalhead?

Jessica: No, I was never really a metalhead. But my cousins were, and I thought they were pretty cool.

Maxim: Did you worship Madonna, like most other female pop singers claim?

Jessica: I was more into Amy Grant. I listened to Madonna, but I never owned any of her CDs or anything. She was a little risque for a preacher's daughter, you know what I mean? [laughs]

Maxim: But a lot of preacher's kids are wild. Did you ever get into trouble?

Jessica: I got my driver's license suspended when I was 17 for getting eight tickets in two months. After I signed a record deal, I got a red BMW and I guess it was a little too fast for me.

Maxim: Still, you didn't exactly run with the fast crowd in high school.

Jessica: Well, I sure wasn't in the popular group, because I didn't part and do all that stuff. Most girls fated me. They toilet-papered my house, egged my door, everything. It's funny, but it's almost always the case that those people end up working at Hooters, and the outsiders do something really interesting with their lives.

Maxim: Do you think their attitudes might have had something to do with the fact that you developed early?

Jessica: I remember when I was in the fifth or sixth grade, my mom was, like, "Jessica, you have to wear a bra," and I'd say, "But people are going to make fun of me!" So I'd wear a sports bra, all the way until junior high. Then I couldn't hide them anymore. Guys would talk to me and never look me in the face. And they still keep me from wearing things that I'd like to. I just can't fit into some thing without showing too much cleavage.

Maxim: You audtioned from the new Mickey Mouse Club along with Britney Spears and Christian Aguilera, right?

Jessica: Yeah, when I was 12. I made it all the way to the finals, then got up there and just froze. I was so devastated I thought my life was over. But looking back, I'm glad I didn't get it, because I got to go nack home and have a normal childhood.

Maxim: There are lyrics on Irresistible that go, "I know I meant to say no, but he's iressistible.." and then there's also a gospel song. We're getting mixed signals here.

Jessica: Abstinence for me is about romance. It has nothing to do with my relationship with God. It's definitely a bonus in that department, but it's nothing spiritual. It's about giving something special to that person you're going to spend the rest of your life with. You know, it's going to be so weird ocne I do get married, because everyone's going to be wondering about what's going on that first night.

Maxim: Maybe you should consider promoting it as a pay-per-view special.

Jessica: Are you crazy? Heck, no! God, that's funny.

Maxim: You were involved with Nick Lachey of the boy band 98 degrees, but nor you're single again. Enoying the freedom on tour?

Jessica: I thought that I'd like dating and talking to other guys, but it's just not me. I'm a relationship kind of girl. I hate having to walk with a swish in my hips to make a guy turn around or something. I mean, I'm a flirt, but I don't like to hit on guys.

Maxim: Are you comfortable around men?

Jessica: In general I like hanging out with guys more than girls. Guys are nevef competitive with you or giving you the evil eye from across the room. I'm kind of the opposite of most girls I have to wear my best outfit and a push-up bra. If I'm hanging out with a guy, I can throw on old jeans and a sweatshirt and be totally comfortable.

Maxim: What kind of fellas do you go for?

Jessica: They have to be sensitive. A guy should be able to cry at a sad movie. He also has to be passionate, because I think passion is very sexy. Not just about me, but about his family, work, life, whatever. I love eyes and lips, but more than anything I like a guy who can light up a room when he walks in. Who has confidence.

Maxim: What's your weakness?

Jessica: Love letters. Just getting a note here and there, a little something hidden under the pillow or whatever. Even if it's just two lines. That's better than spending tons of money on me or taking me someplace fancy.

Maxim: How can a guy ruin a date with you?

Jessica: You know that a movie where the guy says if he picks up a girl in his car and she doesn't unlock the door for him as he walks around to the driver's side, he dumps her? Well, I have one for the girls: If a guy takes you to dinner and orders before you do, forget him! [laughs]

Maxim: Are you the jealous type?

Jessica: Note really, but I like a guy and he's flirting with another girl right in front of me, that's another story! It doesn't control me or anything, but I am the kind of girl who will look through my boyfriend's cell phone for girls' names and ask questions if I find them.

Maxim: When the teen-pop crazes crashes and burns, what do you see in your future?

Jessica: I'm ready to just sing. I think people are getting over the chessiness of pop and are looking for more honesty, and that's where I want to go. I can't wait to do more ballads. I don't want to dance around anymore and do routines. It's fun, but that takes away from my voice. I'm ready to just stand on the stage and sing my butt off.

Sounds like the same 'ol Jess to me. :) I'm glad she's stayed that way.

I agree with Stringbean, in that, as a fan, I am rather disappointed in the pictures, but I was more disappointed by this:

As a fellow Christian abstinence pledger, I wholeheartedly disagree with that statement. It has everything to do with God. God wants His people to be pure in mind, body and soul.
When Jessica took that pledge, whether she realized it or not, she not only made a promise to herself and her future husband, it was a promise to God as well.

I as well was disappointed in the pictures. Not because they're disgusting or nasty or whatever, but because I always thought she was different. I thought she was the special one who released two ballads for her first two singles and made it clear she had talent and whatnot. These pics and most of her demeanor since Irresistible came out have been the same for me. and then I read the article and it's like someone said, the same old person. I want to blame Tommy... especially after reading the TP article from over the summer. It just seems she's doing this in part to explore it for herself but also to do what he says might make her "more famous" or whatever. I dunno but it saddens me. Anyway, in regards to what I've quoted below:

Maybe being Christian and abstaining from sex are related to you but I think what she meant is that HER being abstinent and HER Christianity have nothing to do with each other. Isn't religion and one's relationship with G-d something individual and something for each person to explore, determine, and form all on their own? If she wants to abstain from sex and pass along that good message, who cares what the reason is? I'm not Christian and I plan on abstaining til marriage too. What does that make me? I dunno... it just seems that we're in no place to judge WHY Jessica has decided to do something (or in this case, not lol). If she says it's not b/c of her faith then who are we to say otherwise? I guess I just don't see why it matters...

i'm a girl and i think she looks good but not disagreeable! if she did the cover like jamie pressley then that's a diffrent story!

i love it. this is the best layout and cover i've seen jess on!

i like the pictures. i still like jess after all the changes shes been through. its nice to a see a girl who got into the business according to her talent before she started dressin down. i admire that of her. But dont the pictures look kind of enhanced. Especially in the chest area on the cover and the 1st picture. i know she has a large chest but... it seems like they tried to perfect her body.

I have lost no respect for Jessica and after reading that article I like her more. At first I felt sorry for her because it seemed like she was doing this to gain more fans or whatever but I remember now how insecure she used to be and now she's got that self confidence. I remember her telling Carson that she worked hard on her body and now she wants to show it off. Jessica is the same, and very real. She gets asked questions that most of the other young singers don't get asked. She talks about her feelings about her body, the reasoning behind her choice to remain a virgin, and so on.

I wish things could be different for Jessica. If success was based on talent, she'd have a little more of it. I'll continue to support her but it seems that more people want to bash her and more people have lost respect for her no matter what she does.

I can't understand why she loses respect but other young singers maintain their fans while doing the same exact thing.

Ok, here's how i feel. Ignore everything else I've said and just focus on this:

I am a fan of Jessica. One of the things that made me a fan of Jess in the first place was that she was different. She was a wonderful, down-to-earth, talented girl, and she was wholesome, which was a welcome contrast to other musical acts. I'm a fan of some singers with 'sexy' images, but it was cool to see someone who felt that they didn't have to conform.
She never USED to be sexy all the time. Then all of a sudden, she's doing sexy shoots. i don't have a problem with the photos, I don't have a problem with people being proud of and showing off their bodies, or being so comfortable in themselves and their sexuality that they dress however they want. The only thing I'm dealing with is that I don't think that's the REAL Jessica. Maybe that's not for me to judge, and maybe I'm wrong. But it just seems to me that this whole image change wasn't so much because of her 'growing up', it was for her to fit in in the biz more.

Keep in mind, that's just my opinion. I still love Jess, I'm still as much of a fan as ever, I was just disheartened by that.

Okay... um, a few things. trlgurl... I too am a Christian (obvously, look at my s/n lol) and I was kinda shocked about what she said about God and "sexual intercourse." I am kinda disappointed in her. As for her pics... I am a big Jessica fan, and I'm a guy. I really don't think its that attractive showing so much.. so I'm gonna say I don't care to much for the pics. I agree with her on showing off her body though. When you work hard for something, you wanna show it. If I had a body, I'd show it too. All in all... I still love Jess, I just don't think she should be posing for magizines.... but, its her.

I wonder what Nick thought about this, lol.

Well, I can't say this for everyone, but I DID read the article and it doesn't change how I feel. I think the reason why SOME of her fans are disappointed is because that is NOT what she was about when she first came out. Being a Christian who is waiting till I'm married, I thought it was so amazing how she came out and was so vocal about waiting. Does that mean I think she should never ever look "sexy"? No. I remember her saying a few years back that one of her goals was to prove you didn't have to be having sex to be considered sexy. I thought that was a really great statement. It's just that now, she seems different to me. Like she is willing to do certain things she wasn't about before to further her career. This is not meant to anger anyone or to simply bash her. I still think she's great and I am still a fan....just not as dedicated a fan as I used to be. I guess what makes me question her motives is that several things like this are happening after her 2nd CD wasn't a smash. I just feel like her label and the people she is surrounded by are pushing this new image on her to try a different route to sell. Being that I am not her and do not know what she is being told, I'm not saying this is the truth. It just appears to look like this to me. But I also remember her saying that she faught with low self-esteem and that she has been working hard and is more confidant now. And I guess that is what keeps me a fan. I think people should feel free to express themselves however they want and if dressing a lil bit sexier than she used to makes her feel better, then she should. Do I sound confused? LOL I am a bit on this whole situation. But I still consider myself a big fan and will continue to support her.

Most people do change between the ages of 19 or however old she was when she first came out. She changed thats it. Its not like she did it to fit some image its her growing up. And in actuallity she doesn't wear anything that any other woman (emphasis on that) her age. I think she can wear whatever she wants and if people don't like it then thats too bad.

I liked the article. It was really good.

I have a problem with the pics just like what it seems every1 else has a problem with them. Its kinda like a total 360 from where she first started. she used to be Miss I have Talent and i dont have to show off my body now its like she is yet again another Britney Spears wannabe. And about her whole abstinence thing and sayin it was for romance. I am not abstinent nor am i havin sex. But i feel when she first said she was doin that it was more for her whole God thing. now she is all like no that was never it its for romance. It just seems like she is tryin to be a lil harder and more daring and tryin to back track on what she has already said. She does have a nice body. not as nice as Britney but yet Jessica can actually sing. wouldnt mind lookin like either, but it just seems like Jessica is totally contradicting what she used to be like.
