Happy Halloween Everyone http://www.geocities.com/ruinkai/pumpkin.gif Anyone have any 80s Halloween memories?

Before global warming hit with such fury, I remember having to wear a winter coat over my costume. There's nothing like a little fairy princess running around with five layers of wool covering her pretty little dress. http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net8/YYicon57.gif

I was allowed to wear my coat under my costume. A big bulky Boba Fett. Doesn't really inspire fear and dread to the Jedi at large.

I miss the days when Mom and Dad dressed us in these plastic outfits with big ol' blow-up heads that we wore above on top of our heads. Ring a bell with anyone? They're kinda hard to explain if you haven't seen one.
An 80s music related memory...I was Madonna from the Like A Virgin video for Halloween 3 years ago and went to the party at the law school with one who was a dead ringer for Cyndi Lauper, a Debbie Gibson, and a woman in a Cat in the Hat hat who didn't want to play with the Ladies of the 80s theme. Good times. I miss painting roots in my hair.

When I was little, I really wanted to be a British Bobby. Don't know why. My tyrant of a mother wouldn't buy me the costume. I'm just biding my time for revenge...

Nikki's no longer MIA!
I vaguely remember those blow up masks that sit on your head... but I can't remember what costume I had that had one.
Can anyone find a picture of one on the internet?

Probably if I could remember the name...I think it started with a W.
I'm on "vacation". Shhhh...don't tell anyone. :D

The costume name started with a 'W'?
Now this is going to bug me until I figure out the name and see a picture.

I know exactly what you are talking about Nikki. The one we had was a big ole scary pumpkin head. All three of us ended up wearing the thing. Oldest brother wore it one year, middle brother wore it the next, and I wore it three or four halloweens in a row. I liked it.

My masks were always of the rubber band sporting variety.

I use to LOVE dressing up in costumes for Halloween
my best ever was Elvira Mistress of the Dark
but the cave woman one was pretty good too. I got out my bag of costumes this year but I choose not to dress up. I can see if I did I'd be the only one.

I dress up every year, kevy. Do it. Do it. Do it!
I asked my family and they're useless in the memory department. There was a witch (which I was), a ghost, and a pumpkin, though.

My mom is out "galevanting" as my dad said... and he doesn't remember last week, let alone what I wore for Halloween 15 years ago.

Perhaps in a past life, iggy. Maybe that's what I can dress up as next year! :)

All of those excellent suggestions...
Saturday I wore a beige dress and blew bubbles all night. I was champagne.
Tonight I'm going for Elvira.

Your champagne get up could have also been indigestion. Just giving you more ideas.

I appreciate the thought. Could also have had something to do with the bottle of soap and the wand I held in my hand

I remember those blowup masks. I was a pumkin head once - nearly suffocated. Anyone remember that Halloween movie that didn't have Jamie Lee Curtis or the Michael Meyers character where some company was selling those masks with the computer chip that whenever the kids wore the mask while watching TV their head exploded and spiders came out? Brrrr - someone hold me I just had a flashback!
Kevy, I remember that party - your rack took first place because you didn't need a pushup bra :D That's the year I dressed up as an engineer. I had a badge and everything. I swiped a picture of one of our dufus engineers and used the name Im A. Engginerd

There's a man with a bald head and a wooden leg who gets invited to a Halloween party. He doesn't know what costume to wear to hide his head and his leg so he writes to a fancy costume company to explain the problem. A few days later he receives a parcel with a note.
"Dear Sir, please find enclosed a pirate's outfit. The spotted handkerchief will cover your bald head and, with your wooden leg, you will be just right as a pirate".
The man thinks this is terrible because they have just emphasized his wooden leg and so he writes a letter of complaint.
A week passes and he receives another parcel and a note, which says "Dear Sir, please find enclosed a monk's habit. The long robe will cover your wooden leg and, with your bald head, you will really look the part".
Now the man is really annoyed since they have gone from emphasizing his wooden leg to emphasizing his bald head and he writes the company another nasty letter of complaint.
The next day he receives a small parcel and a note which says "Dear Sir, please find enclosed a bottle of molasses. Pour the molasses over your bald head, stick your wooden leg up your ass and go as a caramel apple!"

And now back to the topic....
As a kid, I was Casper, Wonder Woman, Peter Pan. As a teenager, Clown, Old Woman, Peter Pan. I remember we would drive ourselves to the ritzy areas for the good candy. There we got full size bars! One year, my friend and I even went when we were in College! Ho hum...what's a girl to do.

I honestly can't remember what I dressed up as when I was a kid. I did have a next door neighbor that was pretty creative though. One year she was a Coke can, the next she was a tube of lipstick. The following year she wanted to be a tampon but her costume didn't turn out like she thought it would.

All I can remember is that I dressed up like Bozo the Clown, The Thing, The Incredible Hulk, Snake Eyes from the G.I. Joe series, a Ninja (just a different version of Snake Eyes), a Shaolin Monk (how weird is that?), a Crayola Crayon (looked more like Jack in the Box), etc.

Last night I forgot to bring comfortable shoes to trick or treat in, and I was wearing the kiss boots that I wore to work that day. A no-can-do in my world. So I dug my rollerblades out of the trunk and rollerbladed up and down the streets while my kick-ass kid loaded up an entire pillowcase full of candy.
I LOVE HALLOWEEN.
Oh, and I found out what those inflatable mask costumes were called, but I forgot. I'll have to ask her again.

Yes. You're the only person that has miles between themselves and the nearest neighbor.
The rest of us live in civilization. ;)

My mom found a picture from a Halloween party a long time ago and three of my friends have these costumes on. She said they were monsters, and two were green capes with orange masks, and one was yellow with a black mask.
Look, we're not the only ones wondering about this... http://www.80s.com/OnBoard/messages/43742.html

I would say setting up the house with all kinds of Halloween stuff. One year we went hog-wild and I made all kinds of things. One was this long fishing line that went from the roof to a tree 25 feet away. There was a ghost that I had weighted down, and it would "fly" from one end to the other. I got some good scares out of that one. My sister and I still like the trick or treating best because of all the candy. We've always had such a sweet tooth!
