My Stone Pony Poem .....

A special night
is what this is about,
A night where we could sing
and twist and shout.

The night started young
and ended way after dark,
at the legendary Stone Pony
in Asbury Park.

Seeing many friends
who had come near and far,
listening to some music
as we sat around the bar.

I walked around the club
with my man Dan,
Him leading the way
me holding his hand.

When what to my wonderous eyes
should appear??
Bruce Springsteen himself,
drinking a beer.

I froze in my place
not wanting to drift far,
YES It was Bruce !
leaning on the bar.

Bruce in a bar
at the Jersey shore,
I thought to myself
Can I take anymore?

After awhile on the stage,
there he was,
strumming and singing
all for a good cause.

We sang, we danced
we held each others hands,
We hugged and were happy
While Bruce played with this band.

To those of you around me
and you know who you are,
I'm so glad we were together
at the Stone Pony bar !!!

To those who couldn't be there
in the Pony after dark
Your presence was felt
in all of our hearts !

Lovely poem. Here's mine:

Twas a night to remember in the Stone Pony Bar
The tramps had descended by train and by car.
From the North and the South they partied and rocked
They kept at it and at it until ready to drop.
When what to their wondering eyes should appear,
Their idol, the Man, their reason for living.
He twisted, he shouted, he drank Miller Light,
He knocked them all out and laid one on Alley.
In ball cap and mustache he must have looked hot
Even took off his shirt which could have caused riots.
The music went on for most of the night
Then the Tramps wandered home in daze and delight.
What a heavenly night but it's just not fair-
Why in the hell wasn't I there?

Thanks all..If Bruce shows up this weekend ..I'll have to write part 2..unfortunatley, I won't be there this weekend, so I expect a full report from my "tramp" friends..
