Lance Bass To Star In 'Gatsby' Film With Paris Hilton

"I'm writing my first horror film right now, called 'Imaginary Friend.' It should be along the lines of that old fun Freddy Krueger-type stuff." — Lance Bass

So what does Lance Bass have in common with hotel heiress Paris Hilton?

Well, besides being blonde and getting invited to socialite-stuffed shindigs, the 'NSYNC vocalist and the older half of the model/actress Hilton sisters are teaming up for the latest Hollywood take on an F. Scott Fitzgerald classic.

"[It's] a remake along the lines of 'The Great Gatsby,' but younger," Bass explained at Wednesday's "Matrix Reloaded" premiere in Los Angeles (see "Durst, Bass, Zombie, 'Matrix' Cast Turn Out For 'Reloaded' Premiere"). Bass will star in the currently-in-development flick, one of many he has on his plate.

"I'm writing my first horror film right now, called 'Imaginary Friend,' " he added. "It should be along the lines of that old fun Freddy Krueger-type stuff. ... We've got a nice imaginary friend-type [slasher character] that will scare the bejesus out of ya'."

An avid horror film fan, Bass said he's bummed he's not part of this fall's "Freddy vs. Jason" film (see "Freddy Vs. Jason: A Match Made in Hell"). "I was so mad 'cause I didn't know they were filming it [until they were finished]. I would have begged to die in that movie. That would've been my dream."

But he has plenty of other projects through his Free Lance Entertainment, including "some kids movies," to tide him over.

Lance's film and television work, JC Chasez's solo album (see "JC Chasez Previews Schizophrenic Solo Debut"), Joey Fatone's comedy record, Chris Kirkpatrick's managing work with the band Ohno, and Justin Timberlake's summer tour (see "New 'NSYNC In 2004, But First A Joey Fatone Comedy LP") will keep 'NSYNC from reconvening anytime soon, and it looks like Justin could be next to follow in Lance and Joey's Tinseltown footsteps.

Timberlake has been sent several scripts in the last few months, including "Superman," though a spokesperson for the singer said it was unclear whether they wanted him to read for the lead role or Super pal Jimmy Olsen. And since that project currently has no director attached (see " 'Superman' Movie Still Has No Superman, And Now Has No Director") and Timberlake has television and tour commitments (see "Justin Timberlake: The Next John Madden?" and "Justin Timberlake/ Christina Aguilera Tour Dates Announced"), it will likely be some time before he commits to any new projects.

—Ryan J. DowneyFun. I didn't really enjoy the book, but it was a good story and will probably turn out well onscreen.

My man is free to do as he pleases. (can I even say that he sometimes pleases to do me? :o )

He's allowed to make his own mistakes. This may well be one of the bigger ones, but he's all grown up now, and the decision was his.

Thankfully I've managed to avoid reading this book my entire high school career.

I've heard its not too great. :o

I don't know why I'm complaining. We all know I'd go see it anyway. :p

I hated the book! All I remember about it is that it's about spoiled rotten rich people.

I even saw the movie (with Robert Redford---while he was still gorgeous---and Mia Farrow). I didn't like that too much, either!

But I'll go see Lance do it. I'll probably laugh through the whole thing, though. Honestly, he's not that good an actor. :p

No offense to Lance, but I cannot imagine why anyone would want to remake "The Great Gatsby". The book is okay, but the movie version was a pretty big flop. With the exception of Nick, the characters are not particularly likeable.

Gee, another "B" movie. I don't think this is a good idea. ESPECIALLY "Imaginary Friend".

And you know what this sounds like! *NSYNC album coming out in 2005 due to member solo projects! *Greicy ain't happy about this!

Although Greicy, he did film OTL while they were recording Celebrity...so it's possible to do 2 things at once...we can't give up hope just yet :p

The thing is it'll be him working on the films, Joey working on the comedy album and I'm sure that JC will still be promoting his cd if they start to work on the album in September. Too many members doing too many things. BTW, is Justin coming out with a new single?! I want "Last Night" to be the next single, just b/c I know it'll be a hot video! ;)

I don't think it would be so bad if it wasn't with PARIS HILTON I mean COME ON all those girls know how to do is shop and show off their money! I've seen those girls in so many interviews and watch part of their E! True Hollywood Story and they were litterally PAINFUL to listen to talk. GAG ME!!

The IMAGINARY FRIEND thing could be cool if he goes about casting it the right way, and he could be a really good actor if they lines he gets weren't so friggin' cheesy, don't get me wrong I LOOOOOOOOOVE "On The Line" but it was cheesy writing, but it was supposed to be, if he gets really good writing I think he could be a great actor, he does serious and angry really well, I mean when he gets mad in OTL he was good, I just don't think he's great with comedy!

We'll see, but please God NOT PARIS HILTON!! And the movie is only in development so it still may never happen. If it does happen he better not even think of hooking up with Paris, he's way too sweet for her. Sorry but they are totally different unless he's done a complete 180 since last year.

Mia, she's one of the girls who are heiresses to the Hilton (as in hotel) fortune. She's 20, her sister is 19, and they've recently been profiled on E! for their somewhat outrageous party habits.

The younger one is fairly pretty, but Paris is less so.

They're both quite blonde, in every sense of the word.

yes, and look how wonderful that movie turned out.

its a great movie, for us. but i dont think the average movie watcher could say the same.

it would have been better if they hadnt of edited it so much.

I guess I was lucky....I never had to read it in High School or College.

I'm sure Lance will do a great job in the movie....but I dont' think it will make a good movie at all.

I agree!!!!

Okay so he wasn't very good in OTL...but maybe he can do better in The Great Gatsby. It's not like he has to act too hard, I mean he's already rich.

I'm sure he wants to do well at everyting he does, but his range as an actor is limited. :D

After watching him on 7th Heaven, I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, because his lines in that were pathetic. He had a few good moments in OTL, and I was surprised at how much better the baseball game scene was in the movie as opposed to the tv ads, but I still don't see him having much of a career as an actor.

Then again, John Wayne couldn't act very well either, and he became one of America's best-loved actors. Maybe there's hope for Lance too!

Yeah, right, suuuuuuuure there is! :p

...and the list goes on. There's alot of people that can't act -- or sing for that matter :o -- but that hasn't stopped their careers. :p

*starts sending subliminal messagest to Lance...
don't do it... don't do it... you're supposed to do 5-part harmonies and try to dance... don't do it*

Lance Bass and Paris Hilton: award winning actors

Of course, by awards, I mean the Razzies, celebrating the worst in moviemaking. It's theirs to lose!

Wow, I totally forgot about this!

I'm still not feeling the idea. At least not with Paris Hilton. I like The Great Gatsby and to see that book being "down-sized" by having this air-head (no offense to those who love her) have any part I'm not feeling it. The first movie wasn't all that according to Hollywood this one would be even less.

I can see Lance playing Ben (forgot his name), the narrarator.
