With the new album and our first few glimpses of the new stuff and the word "growth" hopping out of their mouths every few soud bytes, how has your perception of them grown or changed from the point of first contact to Black and Blue (for me they wouldn't have to grow, just be)?

Why, Geeze, what an interesting and profound topic!
When I first encountered those pyrotechnic, pervable, pleasing portions of pulchritudinous protoplasm, I have mentioned before, I was not that interested in men as http://smilecwm.tripod.com/cwm/eek2.gif MEN. That changed most profoundly after learning about them and who they were and how they are. Just something about them. I feel more alive. Now, there is SDL. Need I say more?
Also, somehow they make me feel like I want to write what runs through my head about them, thus burdening the rest of you with stuff like this. I don't get this enthusiastic writing about other things. Never even knew I could write before.
I sing happily when I refused to sing before (not that I can, just that I do). They just brighten my life and I thank them profoundly.
It's like I was a sleeping frog and they came along and kissed me with the gift of themselves and while I'm still a frog, I'm a happier, less withdrawn frog.

I suppose the first thing I noticed was that SOMH was not your typical "love" song. Sure the words are similar, but the music and harmonys tell a whole different story. I am assuming that this is just a preview of what is to come and I am ready to see whatever it is. While some people say they see no growth, no difference, I could really not care less. I, like geeze, would just be content with them being them...I love their music, why would I care if they are growing. I just want to hear them sing! http://talk.livedaily.com/docs/biggrin.gif

to me BSB has done what I like all of my favorite artists to do and what I tell all artists that I work with to do. Evolve without losing your beginning formula. You can grow without losing everything that you came to the dance with, if you are good that is.... and they are.

On a personal level...now they are being more themselves. They don't appear to care as much about "image" and more about "hey this is me. This is who I am and I hope you like it"

I mean Nick used to try so hard to not say the wrong thing and all now he is like 'Okay I goofed...oh well brain fart'... and makes it funny ...

Kevin as of late is showing the sense of humor that I saw when I met them back in Milan. I kept waiting for him to just stop playing the Mr. Serious role and start letting people see the fun side because that side is soooo wonderful to be around.

Brian is being more realistic about drawing lines in the sand and I respect him for that. In earlier years he would have been coaxed to play down the whole dog stealing thing but now he doesn't. He is like I love the fans BUT when you cross the line and hurt us you.....

I have seen the least change in AJ and Howie and that is not a bad thing. AJ was always out there doing 'something different' and Howie was always 'playing nice'..... They both seem more relaxed in interveiws but then again AJ used to look asleep in interviews.... LOL gotta love the laid back kind http://talk.livedaily.com/docs/smile.gif

I really feel that for the impossible position that they have been placed in that they are dealing very very well with it...they always have someone unhappy with what they do or don't do and not afraid to be vocal about it. People fuss if they look to clean cut..if they don't look clean cut enough...if they cut up and have fun and relax or if they just give the PC answers...if they don't show affection towards their women ..... if they do show it... If their mates are around too much or not enough... no matter if they release a ballad, mid-tempo or up-tempo people want to say they should have done the opposite.

I mean no matter what they do and how hard they try there is always someone bashing them..and I am NOT talking about the people that happen to disagree with something do and voice that... I am talking about the hateful ones that just go to far....
and the guys are all fairly normal and at this stage in the game there is normally a rehab victim, a dead member, a break up or totally seperate bus & dressing room arrangements.

From the first time I saw them live I felt a "magic" in it... when they "gel" it is like nothing else.

I ,of course, had heard the music because I had a preteenage daughter who is now 15. When she went to buy a single from Mill. CD she asked me what I thought she should do, buy the single or the whole CD. And I said they are so good, it will probably all be good....buy the CD! I didn't think that much about it, but liked the music. The point of recognition came for me when I saw them on Disney last spring. I just sat there with my mouth open mesmerized saying, these guys are good!!!! Then I said I want to see a concert. Then then became I have to see a concert. After that followed 3 concerts, and the whole BSB thing!!! I want the guys to stay true to themselves, but they will change with age and maturity. They are extremely intelligent and talented, so no matter what they do I really think they will do well!!!!

i'm with n2music, they don't give a flying flip about the "image" anymore....

the first thing i noticed with all the new appearances/interviews blah blah was when howie said "we were laughing our asses off" on the z100 interview. now i know D is a little freak on the sneak, but he was always the one that was really all about the image, i never thought i would ever hear that boy say a curse word if he knew fans could hear it. now i'm just waiting to see sweet D get pissed off..i would pay money to see him b*tch about something LOL

as for the rest of them, that image is OUT THE WINDOW!!! i'll never forget hearing aj say "harass your ass" on TRL that day and then thinking back to the bsb on mtv special when he said "this album kicks backstreet boys in the butt" that was just so NOT aj...and that squeaky clean image and being such sweethearts that never get pissed off LMFAO!!!! "find your own identity" that's all i have to say about that, and brian that boy has a grudge that i don't see ever going away...although i think the grudge is more towards fat bastard than towards the boy groups

I first heard the BSB when they were on SNL in '99. I was in another room and heard them singing. My first thought was 'Wow! SNL has real singers on tonight!' As I began to follow them, I gained repect for them, not only as singers but as young men. Any of you who has a vast collection of BSB videotapes that highlight the group's career know how hard they've worked. It almost made me sad to watch all of the clips. They guys were great but I couldn't help but think "God, they're working So hard, they're being so careful about what they say... They must go through hell. It HAS to get so old!"
Now they've come to the point they don't have to play that game anymore and whether I like or dislike what they do, I say Bravo! The quality of their product has continued to improve. They've earned every bit of their success.
