So I'm looking to spend my 30th birthday later this year in style. By style I mean away from home, be it in the States or over in Europe.
My birthday falls on 15 November. I figured if I were to spend my birthday in Europe, I'd have to go to a football match sometime that weekend.
However, now that all the leagues have released their schedules, I notice that week has no games scheduled in any of the leagues I would want to go see: EPL, Bundesliga, EreDivisie. Is there an international qualifier or something scheduled for that weekend?

Um, what's wrong with the Premiership? OK, OK, I know our weather is awful but still! LOL.
I'll try and help. I can't right now though, I have to go. I'll be back later!

OK, well there aren't any international qualifiers that weekend because they will be all over the week before. International friendlies are usually scheduled not too far in advance and it may even depend on who qualifies in determining who wants to play who. I couldn't tell you if there are any friendlies until they are arranged and I don't think any will be planned that far in advance.
Ooops, I'm sorry, I didn't notice that you said EPL. I'm not used to seeing the Premiership put like that.
Well, there appear to be no fixtures LOL. I don't know why the leagues aren't in action that weekend. In Britain it isn't the FA Cup or the Carling Cup and there isn't any Champions League of UEFA Cup either. Perhaps you could go the weekend before or after. Could you do that?

I spoke to my dad and he thinks that weekend could possibly be reserved for international friendlies. Is there anything else I can do?

No, that's it. Thanks.
That all sucks though. Oh, well. I guess I'll either have to grin & bare it or take the trip on a different weekend.

I'll post if I hear of any friendlies. Something has to be going around that date or there would be Premiership matches.

OK, I just had a thought. Maybe the Euro 2004 qualifier play-offs will be played then or around that time.

^ You could be right there. I got this from UEFA's official web site:
The ten group winners will qualify automatically for the final tournament. The ten runners-up will take part in five play-off matches on a home-and-away basis in November 2003, with the five winners progressing to the finals.

Just out of interest, did you do anything soccer related for your birthday?

Nope, I went to Disney instead.
My next vacation may be very soccer related though. I started planning my trip and it was the day after I got my clearance from work that I find out that the U.S. MNT will be playing the Dutch in Amsterdam, while I'm was going to be on vacation in The Netherlands!!! :D Then maybe I'll see another game or two that weekend.
