Stolen from the BSB board...
(9/1/03, 1 p.m. ET) -- Would-be recording artists take note--Fox has cancelled its mini talent contest, American Juniors. The network originally planned to air a second edition of the American Idol spin-off in the fall, but has since scrapped the entire venture due to low ratings.
Though the program will no longer have a life on primetime television, its pint-sized contest winners--Danielle White, Taylor Thompson, Tori Thompson, Chauncey Matthews, and Lucy Hale--will still appear on an album due in stores on September 9. The CD, titled Kids In America, will also feature the other children who made the show's Top Ten.
American Juniors debuted in May. Its last episode aired on August 19.

lol.. okay, sooo.. remember how they said they were gonna release a greatest moments album (ya know, like AI has that season 2, love songs) with all the kids on it, and then a debut album with just the 5 winners on it. What is thier group called anyway? I KNOW it's not called American Juniors lol. So now they are just combining the 2 cds? The greatest moments and the debut cd into one? I dunno... I don't think the cd is gonna do that great.
Who here is gonna by it?
and that is my input Katlin, thanks for posting ;)

and I'm not surprised that they scrapped the 2nd season of AIJR....I myself only caught a few episodes of it...partly due to work and partly due to losing interest....and not even the host  could keep me coming back lol!!!!!

The show looked good in the previews, but the actual show was awful.

I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe the demanding, pressuring and screaming parents that accounted for the first few episodes just hurt the shows chances. They're only kids, my goodness! They don't need to be pressured like that for a competition. Let them have fun. I thought that all the 10 contestants were good. They could even do songs from 1969, 1970 (year I was born), and 1980 so very well. I really thought that "American Juniors" would be on a long time, but putting it out during the summer wasn't a good idea a few weeks after "American Idol." It got attacked by the critics a lot, and that might have hurt it too. They should have aired it on Nickelodeon; it would have appealed to the kids more and be seen more on that network than Fox. But "American Idol" is way too strong now; making another talent show like that one will not help, and that's what affected "American Juniors." I'll miss that catchy theme song; was humming to it every week--sounded like 1978 disco music a little bit.

good insights ;)
yeah, putting it our in the summer didn't help at all. they could of put it on Nick, or even like... abc family. I know Nick has/had some talent show hosted by Nick Cannon for kids that were comedians

That's kind of sad because I liked the show and I thought the kids were talented. But then again one kids group is enough.

and that is my input Katlin, thanks for posting ;) I bought the album with the 10 finalists. It was good. I wonder if the album with the 5 winners is going to be released now that they announced that the show is cancelled. But I can see that they're kids and they have to have a lot of adult supervision to go to all the venues and tour dates if the show succeeded. That would have been a problem (one of them might be lost, keeping them all together and the like). But if it comes out, I will defintely buy it. I like to listen to young talent every year.
