yeah, i heard that from my hardcore mariah-fan friend. It sure would have changed alot, or would it? i think think people would go nuts speaking about how bad the movie is and that would still mean a bad selling soundtrack...

Yeah she told OK magazine when Rainbow was released that she had written Heatrbreaker for her forthcoming movie but then the film got pushed back so the record company had the song but no movie to release it with. They told mariah that she couldnt release a song on its own so she told them she would record an album. Thats why in my opinion the rainbow was a bit rush released.

LOL I wasn't as obsessed back then but yeah I was surprised...and even though I LOVE Rainbow, the album does seem a bit rushed

Yeah, I knew that. Before Rainbow she was planning on doing the soundtrack to 'Glitter', and wrote and recorded several songs, but production and filming fell behind, and she was left with these songs and decided to do a new, seperate album which became 'Rainbow', instead.
Following the completion of "The Bachelor", Mariah turned her attention back to "All That Glitters", which was once again green-lighted. Part of the deal was for Mariah to compose the songs and music for the film, and so she immediately settled back into the studio. Drawing on her own life for the fictional story, Mariah had soon fashioned several songs that reflected moody, emotional highs and lows but, in keeping with the seting of the movie, with a definite eighties feel. At the rate she was going, Mariah felt that the soundtrack would be completed just before she stepped in front of the cameras. Unfortunately, "All That Glitters" start time was pushed back yet again, and so Mariah was once more left in limbo with a handful of songs. "I was like okay'", she told the Baltimore Sun. "If I'm going to do this, I'm either going to use some of the songs from the soundtrack or go back to square one and do a completely different album. So I decided to take the songs I had already done and just do a completely different album."

She was doing songs for the movie before the #1s came out. In her Vibe magazine article where she had on that ugly ass bikini with like bottle caps on it she was saying how she was doing stuff for the movie and then she broke the record for female artists with #1 songs so they decided to do a whole album of her number 1's which was "not a greatest hits" even though it was

I remember hearing about that and being so upset. All That Glitters sounds deeper than *Glitter* :greyno:
