View Full Version : Saw some of the SNL dress rehearsal

A couple of acquaintances work at NBC, so I managed to sneak up to the SNL floor and watch a bit of the dress rehearsal. Security, always vigilant, was downright nuts. Still, I was able to wander the halls pretty much at will (it helps that I've been there before and I look nothing like a teeny, lol). I only stayed for about half an hour or so before leaving, though; people were busy working and it looked to be an especially stressful evening, probably because of all the security precautions.
I think Justin will do well; his comic timing's pretty good and some of the sketches look like winners. One in particular -- I'll call it the "Omeletville" sketch -- is hilarious. I could only hear part of the "Newlyweds" bit (and yes, J looks pretty scary in a blonde wig), but I think it'll work too. I even walked past his dressing room at one point, just as he was coming out. We glanced at each other, but I just kept on going (there was no way I was going to try to talk to him). I peeked inside his dressing room a little while later and saw Cameron sitting on a couch watching a video monitor.

That's awesome!! :) I had a feeling you may have been there today.
Thanks for the scoop!

I was actually supposed to go and try for standby tickets today.. but plans fell through..
I'm sure it proly wouldn't have mattered much, b/c it's always to hard to get in standby for anything Nsync related.

I can't wait to watch it..

In retrospect, I wish I'd tried to stay for the entire rehearsal. There are always more sketches than they can use for the live show, and I kinda like seeing which ones miss the cut.
ILJ, maybe if we get enough notice we can try for tickets when/if JC appears.

^^ The yellow tights were a riot, but they changed the ending of the sketch: in the rehearsal another guy walks over to them, asks how much they make an hour, then invites them to move their act to the front of his store (I'm not sure, but I think it was a book store). The Punk'd bit was also pretty outstanding, IMO.

I love me some Justin... but... he was a little flat on the beginning of that last performance.

I wish he'd done something other than CMAR, and that's saying something 'cause I looove CMAR (though I now prefer the dirtier version he does in his club shows). I was hoping he'd do "Last Night" as his final song. On the whole though, he's done a terrific job. Even some people who insist they can't stand him are watching, and other non-fans have been impressed so far. The woman who did Sharon Osbourne was dead on as well.

I thought Justin did a good job.

But I just am not a fan of SNL. I don't find it funny.

And I couldn't enjoy it after the game ended.

But yeah, excellent performances. :D

I believe my favorite would either have to be "The Rainbow Connection" or the Punk'd skit.

He did a kick ass job of imitation Ashton Kutcher. LOL

I thought the whole show was hilarious, I haven't laughed that much during SNL for quite some time. Justin did great, I'm very impressed.

I liked all 3 performances but I think my favorite was Senorita. :D

Is it wrong that the "Take it From Here" skit in the monologue reminds me immediately of my father?

Honey, I hope you get the chance. When he sings the song he leaves no doubt as to what happened and how bitter he is over it. My jaw dropped when I saw him perform at a club in NYC.

Are these upcoming club dates all ages or 21+? I saw a 21-and-over show, and he was much more, um, uninhibited with his gestures and language.

I believe that one of them is a 21+ show, while the rest are 18+.
