I want to start out with one team and then work my way through the years... Ive been in cheerleading for a couple years and ive always wanted to have my own allstars team. I just dont know where to start. I am 18 years old and I have a friend plus her mom to help us out maybe. I just dont know where to start. Like... how do I get insurance for cheerleading? How do I get to be a certified Coach? What qualifications do I need? How much do I need to get started? etc...

Ah, I cheered from 7th grade all through high school and LOVED it.
I actually just worked out with my college cheer team recently and that was a blast as well. I'd totally try out but the times didn't work for me.

Anyways, I agree with Jenn. Try to contact UCA and they'll defenitely be able to help you out.

If I go to UCA.com that just takes me to Varsity.com I've contacted Varisty.com and they're helping out a little bit. But thanks guys for your help. If you have more information let me know. Thanks

Do you have a youth sports association in your town? They might be able to give you some information on insurance, since they MUST have it!

You might also contact any small gymnastics places near you.

Either one might also be willing/able to help sponsor you.

Good luck! I don't imagine it's easy to start something like that, but if you're determined, it will be very rewarding.

I cheered for 6 years and coached Middle school last year, would do it again this year but not enough time.
I would definitely look into your local gymnastics facilities about working with them to form a team, more and more are looking to build teams.
The only thing that could be tough is that California already has a lot of all-star teams. so you would really have to work making yourself stand, find out if Cali has a cheerleading coaches association, I'm from Michigan and I'm a member of theirs they deal with more Junior High and High school but I'm sure you could find out info to help with rules and regulations even though All-star is different.
Also looks into different coaches clinics through camps in your area, most states have one or two a year. Maybe even go to an already established all-star team and see how they kind of got their start, say you're writing a research paper for a college class or something if they seem hesitant to give up info.
If you do everything independently you are looking at a whole lot of money because you need the basic equipment of a qymnastics facility besides, bars and beam and all that stuff. You're best bet would be to set up meetings with local gymnastics places about developing a team under them.
Being a cheerleader and coaching and organizing a team are two completely different worlds so read up as much as you can before getting too involved just to make sure that you have the knowledge and experience needed.
Also find out about some All-Star competitions and attend them in the age group you're looking to build and get up to date on the styles, tumbling, stunting and how the coach, coaches from the sideline. Trust me it helps!
Hope this helps somewhat.
