JM: I think Punk’d is a poor man’s Jamie Kennedy Experiment. For a prank show to really have teeth it has to be smart. And though I have seen some recent Punk’d episodes that have gotten wittier, for the most part it’s someone doing something that any intelligent and compassionate person would fall for, which doesn’t have much of an angle. “Hey, Bob, your mom died!! You have to come home!” “SUCKER!” When they got Justin it just made my heart hurt. The poor kid has no idea if someone’s paying his taxes for sure, so you can’t slight him.I agree with the moptop. Well...my heart didn't, uh, hurt:laugh:, but yeah, I'm so on board with this.

... yes yes... i cried for him! I knew it was a prank but he just looked so helpless i couldn't help not crying!:o

It was definatly one of the best pranks/punks ever pulled... but man it was horrible!

Girl you ain't ever lied! I knew it was a prank, but damn the first time I watched it the whole time I was like "That's so not right, that's so not right. Ashton is so wrong for this, that's just not right. Awwww" :(

John Mayer's comments about Punk'd are so funny--a poor man's Jamie Kennedy Experiment. lol!!!!!! He must have compared both shows and concepts when he saw each of them. But he is right that Ashton Kutcher shouldn't have pranked Justin Timberlake like that.

Like a lot of people, I enjoyed the segment where Justin got Punk'd: It instantly put the show on the map, and Justin took the prank quite well (better than most would have, including me). J also, I think, got a measure of revenge last week on SNL, so it's all good. (Plus nothing's worse than Jamie Kennedy, IMO.)
John Mayer has made no secret of the fact that he is a huge fan of *NSYNC and Justin, and seems pleased that he and J have become friends as well. I think it's pretty cool, too.

that was clearly da best punk the whole season. even my homies that dont like J were talkin about it 24/7
