I'm so pissed. No Letter Kills with SOTY for me. How did I know that would probably happen? They're only doing the West Coast dates. Bastards.

They can do Odessa, TX, but not San Antonio? lol I guess that means nothing to anyone not from TX, but Odessa sucks. haha

Aug 11th, 2004, 10:49 AM
lmao I agree with ya Kassie... only I was thinking Odessa and not Houston...

Kassie
Aug 11th, 2004, 11:52 AM
Odessa is so random! haha I think they have Houston later on in the tour, so you don't have to worry about that. I think I'm going to have to hit the Austin date.

kk822
Aug 11th, 2004, 01:56 PM
yeah, Odessa is so random. And yeah I'm sure they'll come to Houston later on. Austin's not too far from San Antonio, but maybe if they add a Houston date adding a San Antonio one won't hurt.

Hey! I randomly came across this thread looking for SOTY info about anything pre-Page Avenue. I love the album and the band so I want to hear more, but I can't seem to find a discography on any site that lists any earlier stuff. Can you guys tell me anything about it? The band are only just starting to get noticed in the UK
Cheers :) x

Page Avenue is SOTY's first full length album. Before they became "Story of the Year" they were called Big Blue Monkey (not kidding lol) and they released an EP. Other than that, you won't find much before that except a few demos of songs from the full length album. :)

if you go to their website http://www.storyoftheyear.net you can read their bio it talks about Big Blue Monkey... its a good bio

Kassie, I told my friend about them playing Odessa and she had the same reaction, lol

^ That may be a typo, cause on the SOTY board, it says Letter Kills will be opening from 9/18 to 10/9. So who knows cause it says that lostprophets and My Chemical Romance will be support on all dates.. it seems kinda weird to have 4 opening bands.

I'm just happy that I get Anberlin. :D

I know it says that. But on the LK site, it lists all the dates, with more to come. So who knows.

Kassie
Aug 12th, 2004, 10:48 PM

I can't wait til a full official list is released. Too confusing.

Cheers muchly, I'll check the EP out (big blue monkey lol, it was a good name change  )
Btw Kassie you mentioned not liking Lost Prophets - they've been around a good while and they've changed they're sound with they're more commercial 2nd album but they're first (fake sounds of progress) is wicked - definitely check it out if you haven't, you might change your mind about them!

I agree.. "the fake sound of progress" is 987984734709387296 times better than the stuff they have out now.

I found this at Billboard.com, its old news but a good article...

Story Of The Year Going 'Soft And Pretty'

The third single from rising rock act Story Of The Year's debut Maverick album "Page Avenue" will be "Sidewalks," lead singer Dan Marsala tells Billboard.com. "We're going to go for the soft, pretty song for all the nerds out there," he says with a chuckle. Prior tracks "Anthem of Our Dying Day" and "Until the Day I Die" reached No. 10 and 12, respectively, on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart.

Concepts are still being bounced around for a "Sidewalks" video. "Every idea we came up with cost too much money or was too weird," he says. "We're trying to figure out the right idea for not a lot of money."

Story Of The Year is winding down its stint on the Vans Warped Tour, which Marsala says has allowed him to enjoy some of his favorite bands up-close, including Bad Religion, Bouncing Souls, Anti-Flag and NOFX. Off-stage craziness has been kept to a minimum, but one particular on-stage incident has kept the band laughing for weeks.

"During the first song one day, [guitarist] Ryan [Phillips] jumped and did some dumb kick but he split his pants," Marsala says. "The whole bottom split in half. He doesn't wear underwear. So he threw his guitar down and ran offstage in the middle of the song. In the middle of the next song, he shows back up with different pants. He just took off running; he ran all the way back to the bus and ran back to the stage. I know the crowd didn't know exactly why he left!" :blueeek:

As previously reported, Story Of The Year will take a month off after Warped before headlining the second Nintendo Fusion Tour. Some work, but mostly relaxation, will likely dominate the downtime, the band's first in nearly a year-and-a-half.

"We might start writing a little bit," Marsala says. "But after the Nintendo tour, we'll start writing for the next album. We have a couple of things we're working on, but we'll probably just hang out and relax."

"Until the Day I Die" can be heard in the trailer for the forthcoming Billy Bob Thornton film "Friday Night Lights," which arrives Oct. 15 in U.S. theaters. "This is our first actual song in a movie," Marsala says. "And it's not like 'Lizzie McGuire' so it's cool. I'm a big Billy Bob Thornton fan."

Isn't Phil married? Or does he just have a kid? I saw a woman with a kid onstage at Warped in Indianapolis that appeared to be with him.

they're playing at a festival here.... I'm not gonna see them though... the pit tickets were $80 (end up being about $90 after all the charges), which is a bit too pricey for my roomate and I right now. MCR is gonna be there to tho... blah, I wish the tickets were less expensive for the pit.
