The 'N Sync singer was leaving a fancy Los Angeles restaurant with girlfriend Cameron Diaz recently when he witnessed the incident and promptly gave chase, World Entertainment News Network writes. Timberlake followed the thief down an alley, eventually scaring him into ditching the bag and escaping over a wall. The singer returned the handbag to the grateful woman and contacted police on his cellphone.

I have no idea if it's true but I have seen this story in a number of places on the internet plus I saw it reported on a tv show. It might have been ENews.

As for whether or not Justin would put himself in danger? He probably started chasing the guy without even thinking about it. A large group of screaming fans might scare him but one purse snatcher, not so much.:laugh:

I saw footage of him and Cameron coming out of a movie on "Celebrities Uncensored" on E. The cameras followed them from the movie to a parking garage second level and no bodyguards were seen anywhere. So, it looks like he does go out occasionally without them.
