OT: Speech Ideas??

Ok... so i have to come up with a topic for my speech in my Speech Comm class.... and i can't think of anything fun!

It has to be a basic persuasive speech on a problem that can relate to my audience... aka my class....

some examples from other people in my class....
hazing, smoking while pregnant, road rage, downloading music off the internet, (i can't do anything on smoking... its to broad)

Whatever my problem is i have to have a solution.... example: Drunk Driving.... a solution would be making it mandatory to take an alcohol awareness course in order to get your drivers license.... that way more people would be informed on the affects of alcohol.

Do any of you have any ideas?? Im so stuck!

Hmmm...do you have a cause you feel strongly about?

I had to do a persuasive speech last year. It was on rape awareness and getting more support for rape victims within colleges.

Maybe you could find a cause you feel strongly about and go from there?

I could narrow that down and do one over a specific date rape drug.... i dunno.....

There are a lot of things i feel strongly about.... but most of them are already being done in class:(

I really hate speeches too!

I found a lot of information on 'date rape' drugs.... and it is really interesting to me.... and today on One Tree Hill (my favorite show... other than Friends!) the show was semi-about date rape.

Most things in my class are.... Hazing, Pregnancy, Abortion, Alcohol, Road rage, Teenage Pregnancy...etc.

I don't know how much they have on date rape drugs but that have a lot of information.

Sorry i disappeared like that... i went on a late night IHOP outing with some friends.... i didn't know i was going to be gone for 5 hours! LOL

Jenn--There really isn't that much information or awareness out there on rape. You'd think there'd be a ton of support and awareness going on in colleges but they really need to work on it.

Ummmm i have to give my speech either next thursday or the week after that.... its equivalent to our final...

I hate giving speeches, but for some reason i am really excited about this one.... the whole date rape thing is really interesting to me!

I hate giving speeches too! I actually hated giving my one on rape but thats for a whole different story. It does help if you find a topic you're actually interested in.

Did you check out rainn.org? Are some of those statistics scary?
