made you a GC fan?
I was thinking about this today, but I can't remember why, when did you become a fan? What made you pay attention to GC, what sparked your interest?
For me, it was the Little Things video. I saw it late one night, I think maybe on RAVE TV, a show I think BCN puts on the WB channel here and I was like, hey that chick is Mandy Moore, hey this song is really fun, hey that kid with the pink in his hair is uber cute lol. So, I checked them out, bought their CD and was instantly hooked. I even turned a couple friends into fans too by talking their ears off about them. I must say I'm happy I became a fan when I did, only because of the nasty speculation that comes along with being a more recent fan. I'd probably go carnival freak crazy on people if the "waah you're a fan cause it's cooool wahhh" was being directed at me.

I'm not a new fan, but not a real old-school fan either...I guess I fall somewhere in the middle! I actually had never heard of them before last year...I loved Simple Plan, and I saw they were touring with GC, but I had no idea who GC was, so I decided to get the new CD when it came out, and from that point on, it was over, I was hooked. And then I got the old CD...WOW...:blueeek:...it was love. And once I saw them live for the first time...there was no turning back, ever again for me. The energy they have onstage is amazing, and even though I've seen them lots, it never gets boring for me to see them again!
And the memories...

Aww this thread just so gave me a warm feeling...
Thanks Andrea..
I first heard about GC when I was a junior in HS. My friend kept yacking about this band and I was like uh huh uh huh she was like they're from where I used to live they rock. And she had their first little demo they used to sell at shows and shes like listen listen so everyday before school we HAD to listen to it. Thats when I got hooked.
I got Teen People mag in the mail and for one of their Faces and Places pictures was of Mandy Moore and GC!!I was like OMGGGGG!!!! Then I saw Little Things on MTV of course it was like at 2 am in the morn when no ones watching but I would get SOOOO excited!
I finally got to see them when them and NFG we're opening for Fenix TX in 2000 (RIP.. bless their lil hearts) lol and they're like we're gonna be at our merch booth after and I missed most of NFG cause me and my friends were chatting with the boys. Aaron.. ahhh boy I miss him.
Then I saw Motivation and yadda yadda yadda.. skip forward to freshman year my friend was moving in with this girl and we were talking about music and shes like oh u can see my cd's! ONE of the first cd's I saw was GC!!! I was like OMG YOU LIKE GOOD CHARLOTTE!!! SHe;s like you know of them?! I was like Um yeaahhh lol so we became such good friends she's my roomie now ::hugs:: She has become a bitter GC fan these days but I know she still loves em (HI LAUREN.. She comes here from time to time) Meeting people through GC... good times.
And meeting you guys also is soo awesome!!
This post gives me a good chance to thank you guys for being such great friends.

You know who made me a GC fan.. That girl above me.
This girl made me watch GC's set everyday for 2 weeks with her on Warped 2002. I admit I wanted nothing to do with them. I liked them but wasn't into their music but man she made me appreciate it. I am now a full fledged fan of the guys that I had such nicknames for.

I guess she gets off trying to ruin all of our threads. Whatever.
Well.... I owe my GC discovery to Stacy.
I had heard OF them a long time ago, but hadn't heard any songs. Big reason - New Hampshire SUCKS. At least my part anyways, the radio stations blow. And I wasn't watching mtv hardly ever. So I guess I missed all the early GC days. Which honestly makes me very sad. I wish I had discovered them when you guys had. Having to deal with stupid people who think I just jumped on the bandwagon... yeah that sucks.
Flash forward: Anyways, then of course Lifestyles was being played ALL the time... and honestly the song wore on me. So I still wasn't catching on. (Stupid me)
Stacy kept talking about GC and I finally was like Hey what the hell... Stacy loves good music, I trust her. So... I went out one day and bought both cds, took them home and listened to them...... and was instantly hooked. I have never been so happy about following someone's musical recommendation. I have so much love for these guys. They are so talented and I just can't get enough.
So... not an old school fan unfortunately, but a die-hard fan nonetheless. And, I might add, for the right reasons... unlike some teenies we know and hate. ;)

I thought it was funny you obviously didn't.
It does make them less of a fan in my book becasue they didn't discover them for themself. The let other people do it for them, and probaly only like them because its the "cool" thing to do. Also why were you listening to radio or trl anyways??
That is soooo untrue when people say its about the music i can garentee you that if it was 5 bald, fat guys singing the exact same music you wouldnt be a fan.
If it was only about the music, you wouldn't talk about there looks at all, you'd be talking about there music and thats all because you have that much respect for them. all i see on these boards are how they loook and so on.

I have no energy to argue with you right now but I will say this: You obviously can be a fan for all the RIGHT reasons and still talk about their hotness. Like I've always said, looks are just an added bonus. It's the music that gets me. (and I know that it's the same way for those of us here that I know) But there's no denying the hot factor, so just get over it. Also... not that I have to justify myself to you, but a lot of times at the concerts, I found myself staring at Billy's... HANDS. That's right... his hands on his guitar. Watching him PLAY. And do not go there with us about respecting them. I have so much respect for those boys, and for reasons I do not need to share with the likes of you. ::sigh:: Whatever though. I care.

Why was I listening to the radio? Because I was in my car and that's what I was listening to at the moment. And GC happened to come on. And I did discover GC on my own, from the radio. No one forced me to listen to them, I could have easily turned the radio off or changed the station, but I liked what I was hearing.
I know many people who are huge fans of the guys, but from time to time they will say how the guys are hot. We just notice the obvious. I think you need to remove that stick from your ass.
Oh, and the GC hype is pretty much over now.. and if it was the cool thing to do.. I would have dropped them off months ago. But I love them guys. They provide me with music I can relate to. I have cried to them, laughed with them, etc. But you are a close minded bitch, so I don't know why I am even talking to you.

Well, don't hold your breath then thinking they will change their shows to all seating, cause it won't happen. Unless they are playing a venue where the lower levels are seating only. The floor is always standing only. Some venues don't even have lower levels.

oh, I don't think anyone should deny what they are or what they like. no way! but a teeny IS bad. a teeny is more how you act and such right? so you like pop. so you like TRL. be cool and you won't have to introduce yourself as a teeny.
I still can't imagine anyone who is a teeny would realize it. if you can say it I don't think you are. you're a pop fan and that is fine.
In my experience, GA always sells out the fastest. in the venues theyre playing now you'd have more trouble getting on the floor than in some seats.

Yeah, that's pretty much why you gotta hop on getting tickets as soon as they go on sale. That happened to me with the Columbus GC show in September. We had wanted to go to both shows; Cincinnati and Columbus, but that week we only had money for one, and they both went on sale the same week. So I figured we'd get our tickets when we got paid again for the other show. Floor was sold out a week before we got paid. I was mad.
