 :D

YES! Hopefully by the time my 15th birthday comes around in May, my parents will let me go and/or take me, if it comes close enough! It better come down to Greyhound Park in Wichita again, or maybe even somewhere else like Little Rock or OKC...

Thanks, Kassie! :D

haha I was just talking about this yesterday w/ friends.... "you, you, you, me, this summer, Warped Tour. It's happening." My friend Emily has a freakish obsession with the Starting Line and I heard they'll be there (kick ass band) so she's already pissing herself like 6 months in advance. lol

Casualties, Bouncing Souls, Anti-Flag... just right there I think I might die. Those bands are HUGE over here on the west coast. And AFI... Davey's from Berkley... :D

I'm excited to see Anti-Flag and The Casualties. They don't come around a lot (well at least over here), so that should be great.

All these great bands..I sense a full Texas Warped road trip for me. I have to see more than one show this summer. lol

The starting line would be so rad!!

This will be their 3rd year in a row playing.. bands usually don't do that!

The bay area is SO spoiled with good bands all the time. I'm around 1 hour - 2 1/2 hours away from all the bay area, so I get a little spoiled too.

Yeah we were blaring the Starting Line in Em's car today... her piece of **** car that's a stick shift and has crank windows. It's sooo intense. lol

Dec 3rd, 2003, 09:44 PM

Somebody (the closest to me is Kassie) is gonna have to take me with them or go with me or something because I wanna spend it with someone if Candice can't go with me. Maybe my friend Terra that moved to Georgia can come over here and go with me...or we could meet somewhere in between like you guys were thinking about...That would so own, man.

Seriously! Candice flies to Texas all the time to see grandparents and sometimes just for fun because her Mom works at Avon and gets all these free flyer miles added on to the ones she already has, and she really takes advantage of it! Candice could come down too and we could all 3 go...+ maybe Terra could come, so that makes 4...Party time!

Man, I wish I could come visit y'all. When I'm over on the east coast it's usually to Florida... lots of friends there. Maybe my friend's dad will fly us somewhere. lol

Yeah I mooch off my parents like no other. I need a job man... I've been to Texas, it was tight... the Hilton in Dallas I think was where I made Jesse run around the lobby in his boxers singing "Sheena is a Punk Rocker" for $20! That was classic... he had absolutely NO money on him (moron) so of course I made him do something to make a dick of himself before I give him money. Ahh, I'm sooo nice. :D

how much longer till August 20th?

I was talking to my friend about our warped and she said since it'll be in August it will most likely be back at Suffolk(THANK GOD!!) because they won't be raceing or something. Color me pumped..

I'd love to go see more than one but I don't think I'll be able to swing it.. idk though. It's a ways away so I'm not gonna worry about it yet.

as much as I enjoyed the waiting in traffic and getting stickers from the cute band boys, watching kids pee in the bushes, stopping at random stores on the way to the show trying to use the bathroom and watching Bert run around by the busses while we got BK.. I'll be happy to travel like 8 seconds to get to Suffolk... not having the entire place be one giant mosh pit is another good thing.

I don't think The Starting Line is going to be at Warped 04. :(

I was posting on the official TSL board and someone asked if they were going to be at Warped, and Randy [their manager], said probably not and that the band hasn't gotten invited to play Warped yet. :(

The only decent band on that list is Bad Religion.

I go just to listen to the music and hang out with my friends...I don't give a sh*t what anyone looks like or is wearing.

Weird colored hair and stupid clothes...I didn't realize you knew Andrea to make these assumptions about her, but I can assure you that she neither has weird hair nor does she wear stupid clothes that look like "everyone else", and since I personally know her, I can make this assessment about her. Seriously stop generalizing us all when you know nothing about any of us.

No, I'm nearsighted, but I'm not blind.

I don't have weird colored hair, its black. I wear jeans and tee shirts, the entire world apparently dresses stupid I guess. Are you wearing jeans right now?

Funny thing is, everyone is different. If there were 10 people standing in a room, all wearing the same exact thing right down to the sneakers and how they did their hair everyone would still look different. Strange how nature and genes work huh?

Are you one of those people who looks at live in a negative or cynical way? You really come off like you do. Go watch Full House, they are way to chipper not to rub off on a person.

I gotta say though... The years I've gone to warped I've seen a variety of people dressed different ways. It's funny how it all comes down to clothing, did we not just have an argument over hot topic, a CLOTHING store. There is more to life than appearances. People aren't defined by the clothes that they wear...

I'm sorry but that comment about the whole conformists/nonconformists comment was really ****ing lame.

I'm sorry I don't know about y'all but I go to see bands I love. I could give 2 ****s what anyone is wearing or where the **** they shop.

I'm sorry if thats what your concerned about when you go to Warped that's pretty ****ing shallow.

It must be cause I really don't get it.

It's so wierd. I mean like ok your a "non-conformist" so you don't go to the show with all your little "non-conformist" friends?? Is that it? So what do you guys do?? Talk about non comformist things?!?!

Whatever life is too ****ing short to deal with the small stuff. Enjoy what you like and does it matter that the kid next to you obviously made a stop at hot topic before they came.

They're supporting their favorite band who gives a **** where they got thier pin/shirt/sticker/patch.

Another thing all these bands you claim to like I'm sure they don't give a care why your there. But I'm sure you won't like them next month anyways cause they'll be popular so OH NOOO now you must jump on another indie bands bandwagon.

Sorry if I'm being bitchy but this whole thing just really pisses me off..

No I don't actually but I can see why you think I am or would but when I type I just type what I'm thinking even if it makes no sense I still kno what I mean but some people intprut what I say negative I guess, when I don't intend for it to be.

I have seen Plains Mistaken For Stars when they opened for The Ataris. Yeah, not my cup of tea.

Heard of:

The Smiths, New Order, At the Drive In, Atreyu, Mates of State, boysetfire.

Anyways, bands I listen to:

Good Charlotte, The Starting Line, Yellowcard, Mest, The Ataris, The Used, Story of the Year, Linkin Park, Simple Plan, Something Corporate, Finch, New Found Glory, Allister, Homegrown, Less Than Jake, Fall Out Boy, Punchline, Rufio, The Movielife [RIP], Green Day, Plain White T's, Trapt, Evanescence.

I think that's about it. Some of that may be mainstream, pop-punk, but whatever, it's what I enjoy.

the whole conformity/non-conformity thing isn't the only reason warped tour isn't really my thing and, as a side note, i never said that i am not a conformist. everybody is a conformist in one way or another. anyways. it's actually very low on the reasons why i probably won't be going.

some of the other reasons include: too hot, too many people, the sound sucks (not a fan of outdoor shows), not that many good bands to see.

You wanna know why I'm uptight? Because your stupidity pisses me the **** off. That's why. Stop being stupid and I'll stop being uptight.

And I never said I didn't conform. It's common sense to know that society as a whole conforms in one way or another. It's bound to happen. Reason why I said the whole conformity thing is bull.

Yep I have heard of most of them and seen most of them live. I actually saw Elliot Smith a few years ago and he was amazing. It's a shame he committed suicide.

I'm not sure if you know but At the Drive in is no more.

Plains Mistaken for stars is amazing. I saw them this summer. I love The Smiths. If they could get back together I'd kiss the ground they walk on.

Good list... except for Ozma - not too much a fan of them.

Here's my list (though I know you'll probably bash everyone on it)
Brand New, Straylight Run, Throne, Taking Back Sunday, Glassjaw, Saves The Day, Orange Island, Further Seems Forever, Coldplay, Matt Nathanson, Jason Mraz, Noise Ratchet, Die Radio Die, Death Cab for Cutie, Something Corporate, Dashboard Confessional, MxPx, Hot Rod Curcuit, Halo Friendlies, Good Charlotte, Mest, Homestar Runner, Faraway, New Found Glory, Le Tigre, Bright Eyes, The Starting Line, The Drive (RIP), The Movielife (RIP), Blink 182, Green Day, The Early November, Senses Fail, Audio Karate, ArmsBendBack, Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, The Smiths/Morrissey, Boys Nite Out, Mogwai, Linkin Park, Story of the Year, Rufio, Midtown...

I could seriously go on for longer but you get the drift

I agree with Steph about Warped, in a way. It would be kinda sucky to pay all that money and then barely make it out of there halfway through it all. It's hot and bright, and you're getting pushed and shoved during the shows, and the show quality (most of the time) isn't that great because it's live. Simultaneously. It would be nice to go, though, if you love enough bands on the list to go, and if you went with friends.

I've heard of those from the list. Very nice list, at that.
Bold = I've heard their music.
* = I like their music.

This is my list, added on to the ones I favored from your list. I probably left some out:

A Static Lullaby, Anti-Flag, The Ataris, Bad Religion, (early) Blink 182, The Bouncing Souls, Brand New, The Casualties, CKY, Deviates, Devildriver, The Distillers, Downset, Dropkick Murphys, Feable Weiner, Finch, Funeral For A Friend, Glasseater, Guttermouth, Hey Mercedes, Hopesfall, HIM, Injected, Lefty, Minor Threat, My Chemical Romance, MU330, MxPx, Neville Staple & The Hitmen, Nine Inch Nails, NOFX, Osker, Pennywise, Pinhead Gunpowder, Rancid, Sex Pistols, Saosin, Say Anything, The Slackers, Social Distortion, SR-71, Suicidal Tendencies, Syconaut, Taking Back Sunday, The Unseen, U.S. Bombs, The Used, Vaux, Voodoo Glow Skulls...

Not trying to argue with you Em...promise. lol

But show quality not great because it's live? Well, how else are you suppose to play shows? lol I'd have to disagree with that anyway because I heard A LOT of great bands live that day.

And people know going into it that Warped is outside and it's going to be hot. That's a given since it's summer. I don't see why people complain about it when they know this beforehand. Don't go if it's too hot for you.

And I think the price for Warped is great. 30 bucks for like 35 oddsome bands. Not too bad.

paidt0smile
Dec 5th, 2003, 09:40 PM
The hot factor doesn't even bother me. Lol. Nor does the pushing in the crowd. Maybe it's just me, but yeah. Lol. Hell, me and my friend got to Cleveland Warped at like 10am. And it was even really hot then, but oh well, it was still awesome. Lol. I didn't think there was anything wrong with how any of the bands sounded. Yellowcard and The Starting Line especially sounded great. :)

BadGirl28
Dec 5th, 2003, 09:45 PM
Yeah Em haven't you never been to a Warped show anyways?

Seriously try it out.. it's so much fun. I've gone the past 7 years and it's always the highlight of my summer. I even worked on it once. It's something ya gotta try for yourself. Don't listen to the haters.

Kassie
Dec 5th, 2003, 09:45 PM
Yeah, I hear you Laura. Pushing is another given at shows. lol I still don't get why people get mad about that either.

It was like 100 degrees the day of Warped down here too. I almost died, but I had a ****ing blast.

xCrystalRockx
Dec 5th, 2003, 10:12 PM
I know I am completely insane, but moshing is half the fun at shows! What's better than being in the pit getting thrown and thrashed around, combining your sweat with everyone else's sweat, and being spit on? It's this crazy high... and when the bands get in the pit with you, sooo much fun. Just me, but I love moshing at shows :D

Kassie
Dec 5th, 2003, 10:17 PM
I agree. I lovee being in the pitt. It's worth all the pushing, hits, and all that ****. Shows are way funner that way.

Yeah, oh man.. I was soooo sore after Warped. I was killing, but this year was my first year going, and I had a BLAST! :D Yeah, I think it's funny when people complain about pushing. "Omg, he just touched me". The pushing, sweating, hotness.. none of that bothers me. Another thing that makes Warped so fun is that you don't know what time your bands are playing, so you gotta rush to find out what time they are playing, and then you run around to catch your fave bands, and go to signings if you have time. I only went to 1 signing this year, which was Yellowcard. But man, I am getting so excited for next year's Warped. :D

the reasons that i listed were in no way complaints. i went to warped tour this year and it was fun and all, but it wasn't THAT great. by the sound, i didn't mean that the bands weren't playinh well. i meant that outdoor shows, in general, have crappy sound.

Wow I'm way late on this argument.

Stacy... Exactly. That was my whole issue with her from the "Hot Topic argument" a little while ago.

This is so ****ing stupid... if you don't like us or want to talk to us and have a normal, non-negative conversation, why keep coming here??

I miss the good old days, when we were all friends and could just talk about whatever the hell we wanted without stupid people butting in all the time.

I dunno, but I'm so excited for Warped. I can't wait til they announce the dates and venues. I heard that it's going to start one week earlier and end one week later, so they'll be adding more dates obviously. But I also heard that it will be a lot of the same cities as this year's Warped.

i agree about the sound quality at outdoor venues, it isn't always that great. I've never noticed anything too bad at Warped though, I think I was into it to much to notice. It's not everyone's cup of tea.

I totally agree....

I love the music too much to think about the rest of the stuff.

FYI the bands I saw at Warped this year sounded amazing. All but the Ataris I couldn't complain.

Brand New sounded f-ing amazing as always.

First please leave her alone. Anyone can like any band they please. It's called having a broad taste in music. You should try it instead of being bitter all the time.

Yes I do like Jason Wade alot actually. Lifehouse is one of the most underrated band among others in my opinion.

If I come off as stupid or whatever I probaly am but BE means soooo much to me like he changed my life, made me see things/realize I wouldn't have if not for him.. So thats why I get defensive he deserves more respect then people liking him from his looks.. not saying you do.. but thers people out theree like that, or liking his music but not understanding what hes saying.

People liking a different variety of music? :o NO WAY!

Plus, don't be judging other people by what they listen to because I know a few posts before you mentioned you liked BSB or Nick Carter...one of those. So you should be the last person to say anything.

:o I only find him attractive because he makes great music hahaha I use to have the biggest crush on him... but yea I have weird taste in boys.

I can't wait either. I think he's doing a new Despa album before he does BE :( at least thats what I heard. I hope the new one is more like Fevers and Mirrors... that album is soo good. Lifted is ok but the songs are mostly just about songwriting or the music industry.

Have you heard No lies, Just Love?? That's my favorite everytime I listen to it I start to cry.

I could keep gooing but I have to goo.

oooh & Badgirl- Sorry about being rude/mean to you before, you seem cooool now.

Dec 8th, 2003, 10:23 PM
Man, I always miss the good arguments. It's quite simple really... if you like something, you like it. If you don't, then you don't. It's doesn't matter what kind of music it is. Music fans in general base if they like something or not on what they interpret the song to be about (if they can relate, etc.) and if the band sounds good. It's not really that hard of a concept, but Joel here likes to stir up ****. :p

I always find it so weird when people don't get the concept of variety. How anyone could ever listen to the same music forever is beyond me, I like spice in my life(literally, I own Spice Girls albums.. they are in the case next to my Queen, Rancid, and TLC CD's. Pure craziness..)

Fallentears..I was just trying to prove a point. If it's possible for you to listen to a variety of music..it's very well possible for everyone else to listen to a variety of music as well. But I guess you didn't see that as you were talking out of your ass and telling Stacy ****.

XFallenxTearsX

I usually listen to one gene of music for awhile and just that kind of music.. I use to boy bands/pop princess when I was little totally over that stage and then I started listening to ska wtf was I thinking... and thats all I listened too, Now i only listen to one type of music but I don't know how to classify it.. just good music.

I don't see hardly anything good in rap and hip hop, at least these days. Every once in a while I can stand a Tupac or Eminem song, and "What Would You Do" by City High was a great song. But that's about it.

I'm way late in the convo again, too. heh
From the comments made by my last posts about Warped and all...I was telling my view on what it would be like, since you guys know I haven't been to one. I'm not scared, I'm just trying to think ahead before I'm all "OK, let's go to Warped" and then end up getting really hurt, which does happen quite a bit because of all the pushing and shoving and the extreme temperatures because of the time of year they put the tour on. Yeah I know what you're saying Em, you gotta be careful in the pit. I'm always looking out for everyone, just because growing up when we'd go do stupid ****, you looked out for everyone regardless. This one girl in the pit with us at GC was passing out and looked on the verge of puking, and so obviously I asked her if she wanted out, she nodded, but no one would f-ing pick her up. Security couldn't get to her unless the crowd picked her up, I couldn't get to her because I was a few people to the right of her, but people would barely lift her up and were barely even trying so by then I was just like "What the **** is wrong with you people?! She's about to pass out!" So then I frickin shove thru the morons and lift this girl up, by myself, and get her to a security guy. Damn kids, if that was you, you'd want help too. Maybe it's just me, but if someone's down or sick, you help them.

And hopefully Bowling for Soup will be on the tour again...I WILL see them live!

I like Lillix, I saw them live though at a radio show and they weren't that great, really high pitched but it could have been where the show was at too. I've only heard a couple songs, their singles and the Rich Girl's song and I think they're catchy. Can't say I see them on Warped though.. *shrug* They did that Girls Garage tour and I think that is put on by the same people as Warped, so perhaps that's why they are on the bill.

A bunch of bands are only till Aug 19th, so I'm anxious to see what's up for Boston the 20th. If NFG isn't there I've gotta go to another date and see them.. but I have a feeling they will be seeing how they've played warped so many times over the years.

6/25/04 Reliant Center (Houston, TX)
6/26/04 Smirnoff Music Center Lot (Dallas, TX)

7/17/04 Utah State Fairgrounds (Salt Lake City, UT)

These dates are only tenative. They may be changed and won't exactly be on these dates, but you get the general idea. That means Ohio will be towards the end of Warped again. Woo hoo. :D I have a feeling next year will rock so hard. Cause a lot of the bands I want to see won't go on the tour til like mid July.

OMG Thank you SOO much for that excellent info!!!

Stacy in that case.... maybe I should just fly out there and we can roadtrip for the last dates? :) I bet my parents could pick us up at the airport.... hehehe.

Would you be able to take the whole week off? I know for sure I'm going to the Pontiac show because it's on a Sunday, and then I can for sure take the rest of that week off if you want to go to them all! :) We would have to rent a car though to drive to all those dates!

And SP!!! I must find a show I can see them at! :D Thursday too...I must see Thursday.

LastLaugh
Feb 10th, 2004, 07:16 PM
Yes I think so! As long as no one else in my office has that week off. I'll ask tomorrow okay? Way ahead of time.

Seriously. If we don't go to Texas, I can do this. I could fly out there and we could go to all those shows, then we could fly back here and hit NY and Boston! Right? Ahhhhhh so excited.

This has to happen. :)

The show in NY is in/by Buffalo, so it's right next to Ohio, back on the way to the east coast...it would probably be cheaper to just drive all the way back than for both of us to fly there.

I still want to go to TX to meet Kassie and to see Thursday! But I need to see SP too, so maybe I'll have to go to Chicago too! *runs to look at dates*

Oh lucky duck. I'm sure I can't afford all of that. Plus I have to save some vacation days for TC and whatever else... Argh! But I'll see what's up tomorrow at work.

I want to meet Kassie too!

Ohhh I see. I'm so dumb about where stuff is... LOL. So yeah, you are right. That's a hella long drive though right? Would we make it in time? Sleeping at rest areas again? ;)

Of course some of them will be long ass drives, but if the buses can make it, we can! :D

What the hell is that? Do not even tell me that we have to go http://www.3countyfair.com/facility.htm THERE.. it's like.. on the other side of the freakin' state![edit] And I wouldn't call being 2 hours from Boston being IN BOSTON...

okay, moment over... ranted to a friend.. alls good in the hood. lol

They changed it from Brockton, maybe it's a bigger place.. one could only hope because that sucked last year.

what in the world...... lord I saw Rooney there last year and It no joke took like 2 hours.

Right about now I'd rather have it at Brockton.
They should really fix it and say North Hampton instead of Boston.

my friend michelle (she's actually a mod on the official gc board, you may know her) said she knows for a fact those gc dates are not confirmed. (she replied to my lj) but they were from rolling stone and ld right? so here's hoping they don't change.

yeah the article I posted was from Rolling Stone so it seems pretty accurate and It was on the Warped Tour website. Just because the GC hasn't "confirmed" the dates doesn't mean they're a total crock of **** lol.
