Genesis 6:6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

This maybe what Risse is talking about. I take the repented to mean he regretted. But another thing I realized by reading this and the question asked by Risse. God had a heart. Even more the reason to understand God made man in His own image as the Bible says. God may not have been human, but He had a heart with feelings as well. That's an important lesson for me. Thanks so much Risse for encouraging us to read and study. :)

God felt deep sorrow for creating man?
Interesting.
Did he ever take it back?

Genesis 6:5-7The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. So the LORD said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth-men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air-for I am grieved that I have made them."

Here is what my Bible says in footnotes.
Does this mean that God regretted creating humanity? Was He admitting he made a mistake? No, God does not change His mind (1 samuel 15:29). Instead, he was expressing sorrow for what people had done to themselves, as a parent might express sorrow over a rebellious child. God was sorry that the people chose sin and death instead of a relationship with him.

Well, just reading it at face value, it sounds like God is saying he made a mistake and wants to just wipe all of us off the face of the earth. Wait.. that's actually exactly what the Bible says. I don't know about you, but when my child was rebelious, my first thought wasn't to destroy her.

This was going to be my answer as well. We may have been born in his image, but we are far from perfect.
