View Full Version : OT: Utah is lame, and the people here are weird

The title says a lot about this thread.
I was in my English class today and it was the last day before Winter Vacation so we didn't do anything and the teacher told us that if anyone has a CD with them we could play it as long as it wasn't rap music. So this girl, Amber, had Meteora by Linkin Park with her and we put it in the CD player and we started listening to it. A few people said that they didn't like rock but it was ok, and nobody minded. And then we play like 3 songs when people start saying that they don't wanna listen to it. I was by the board writting "Merry Christmas" and drawing a Diddle Maus (german thing) when someone in the room says "I don't like this" and someone else right after that says "Yeah, this is like Devil Worship Music " and I have no clue who said it but I said back"It's called LINKIN PARK" and then the teacher came and took the CD, cuz I live in Utah with a whole bunch of people who get their panties in a bunch over everything and think so much is evil. So then the teacher put some CD in and the first track was a weird 70's song and then, track two WAS ROCK MUSIC!! That wasn't cool. It was like hard core electric guitar stuff (but no screaming like LP I guess). So I turn to my teacher and say "This is rock music too! How come we couldn't listen to Linkin Park but we can listen to this" and he said "Cuz that was Linkin Park" and then I said "But this is rock, it's Devil Worship music, I don't want to listen to this  " and then he said "Yeah, but this is ...*some name of a band that I can't remember*"
Why oh why oh why do people have to be so lame. :o
I seriosuly need to move! I wonder how many people in a New York class room would call Linkin Park devil worship music. After the break I'm gonna find out who called it Devil Worship music and then I'm gonna find out if they read Harry Potter (never got into those books, I read like half the 2nd. one, lol) and if she had, I'm seriosuly gonna tell her that it's a "Devil Book" and "Evil" and that she "Shouldn't read it" cuz of that
Yeah, sorry for venting but it's annoying.

I hear you I hear you. here in Utah I'm a really bad girl. everywhere else I'm a really good girl. lol how strange is that?

I had something like that happen when I was a senior in highschool. we were listening to the radio and everlast's song "Black Jesus" came on the radio and more than a few people complained and the station was changed.

we're not living in the same world as everyone else candy. UT is just not normal.

Heh I already answered you in the BSB forum. But anyway... yes Utah can suck, but other places do to. It's just a matter of finding the people that aren't lame - they ARE out there.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, No thanks, me and my best friend once had a talk about states that would be even worse than Utah, and North Dakota and Alaska were at the top. LOL, we didn't even think of North Dakota unitl I remembered I once met someone who was from there.

 I have a starbucks about 1/2 a block away from me.... its great stuff. That is true, the work ethic is great around here I must say.... people are usually willing to help you as fast as they can so you can be on your way

no, I mean caffiene is evil here. there are only a few places to get coffee.

*Candy*
Dec 29th, 2003, 01:54 PM
HAHAHAHAHAAAAA, Totally! There is one Starbucks of which I know the location of, and it's inside the Barns and Nobles accros the street from The Jordan Landing place, lol. LDS (Mormon) people don't drink caffeine, I know some people at my school who aren't allowed to have most soft drinks cuz of that. And you know, I like the way you worded that, "Caffeine is evil here", so true, that's how I always put it too, lol.

:nc: wow. Maybe you are right. I probably wouldnt fair too well around there. Caffine is one of my best friends.;)

I went out to coffee the other day and my date was 24 so it totally surprised me when he ordered hot chocolate instead of coffee like me. I should be used to it. I grew up here.

I hate that I have to drive forever to find a coffee shop or settle for gas station coffee. lol. I guess I should stop complaining. it's not life threatening or anything.

you know what else? I have a friend who is 20. his dad found a nine inch nails CD case in his bedroom while I was over at his house (dying his hair blue) his father gave us ALL a lecture on what that music will do to us. what is it really going to do?
how old do you have to be to be able to tell what is right or wrong on your own? I mean "trent reznor made me do it" wouldn't be a good defense for anything.

anyway any LDS people reading this. we don't mean to make this place sound bad. tons of respect for you all. It's just that it can get really weird being held to standards that are not your own. like not being to choose for yourself what music is bad or goes against your values. We weren't allowed to wear sleeveless shirts at my highschool because of local standards. shoulders aren't that distracting are they? and it sucks that because nobody around here drinks caffiene so coffee places can't do well here and we have no where to go for it.
hope we're not insulting anyone.

it's just strange here

:D why not? It works for me.

I can see where you are coming from in a certain sense. As you may or may not know, I grew up and live in North Dakota. Everyone and everything is extremely republican around here. We also werent allowed to wear sleeveless shirts (to high school, pretty much anything goes in college). But we were very limited to what we should and shouldnt do. I have it a little better off now that I moved to bismarck, more people, I mean, for gods sake, I grew up in a town with less than 900 people in it. I graduated with the same 37 kids in my class that I knew since the 2nd grade. We had to come up with very creative ways to entertain ourselves, but I must admit, I wouldnt change it for anything, it has made me the unique individual that I am now. I could probably be put in a white padded room for 2 weeks by myself and be perfectly content. ok, maybe not, but just to get my point across.... no one is happy with where they grew up, or where they came from (minus Candy cause she actually came from somewhere cool) But my point is, everyone has problems with where they live, people here want to move somewhere warm or somewhere with a higher population, and just arnt satisfied with anything. I would be a hypocrite if I said I didnt want to leave here too, but I guess Im gonna try to make the best of the situation while I am still here. *hands you a venti vanilla creme frapachino*

Dec 30th, 2003, 01:29 AM
ahhhh crocheting. Gotta love it. I have tried aimlessly for years at it, but never much luck. I usually just end up with a big twisted up ball of yarn before Im done.

I just got home from, uhhh.. a friends house:angel: and I couldnt sleep. I should get my hinny to bed one of these hours though.

Glitter
Dec 30th, 2003, 01:38 AM
it took me a full year to get it right. lol

you're an artist maybe you'll understand this.
sometimes I just have to be creating something. I have to be making something. it's a weird urge.

crocheting is easy. no paint or anything to clean up after. it's my quick fix

Dec 30th, 2003, 01:41 AM
My mom tried to teach me how to do it a bunch of times, it just never worked out to my advantage, but I completely understand, its almost as if your fingers need to be doing something at all times. But like you said, it is a heck of alot easier to clean up after. BTW, can I ask how old you are?

Glitter
Dec 30th, 2003, 01:49 AM
