Howdy all. So, I'm moving out on my own in the fall, and I'm gathering recipes so that I don't starve to death.

Any good ones you wouldn't mind sharing with a poor college student? ;):p

Thanks!

go buy a book :p lol... I've got a couple "general" cook books... they're good in case you wanna try something new, you can look up something... like how long to cook sweet potatoes and stuff ..

see if you have a "used" bookstore around... they typically have stuff like that...

you can also search on google for recipies and stuff.. I do that sometimes too..

I have one, but I'll have to dig through all of my mom's recipes to find it. Not looking forward to that. Anyway, they are for cheese and garlic biscuits, and they kind of taste like Red Lobster's. If I find the energy to search for the recipe, I'll post it. :D

Cheese-Garlic Biscuits

Ingredients:
2 cups Bisquick Original backing mix
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) margarine or butter, melted
1/4 tsp. garlic powder

Directions:

Heat oven to 450 degrees/ Mix baking mix, milk, and cheese until soft dough forms (beat vigorously for about 30 seconds)

Drop dough by 10-12 spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake for 8 - 10 minutes. Mix melted butter and garlic powder. Brush over warm biscuits before removing from cookie sheet. (I find that they garlic stuff gets into the biscuits better if you poke holes in the biscuits with a toothpick.)

Enjoy. :D

Now I have to find that fudge recipe...

Do you have cable? On the Food Network there's a show called 30 Minute Meals that offers quick, usually simple recipes that can be completed in a half hour. I think the show is on @ 11:30am, 2:30pm & 6pm every day. Worth a try!

Pshaw, all you people and your drive to restuarant directions. Here's some real instruction:

Boil water. Add pasta. Cook 4-10 minutes. Serve with cheese and butter.

See? Much better.

Oh, and steak comes out pretty well from the George Foreman Grill. So do quesedillas.

hehe, thanks Dave. I've got pasta pretty much perfected but I haven't tried using cheese on it though.

How does one make a quesedilla? Do you just get a tortilla and put stuff in it and then grill it?

Pretty much, yeah. I've done it in the toaster oven, the pan and the afore-mentioned GF grill. The grill works well 'cause it's easy clean-up and no flip involved. You don't have to flip in the toaster oven either, but the tortilla comes out way dry. The pan is good if you cook it long enough (so everything doesn't come out during the flip), but if you are a person who watches out for how much butter you use on food, then the pan is horrible, 'cause you need to grease the pan with something.

Heh. I think that's the first time I ever mentioned greasing something on a posting board.

I usually just buy the tortillas, a pack of shredded cheese (the mexican mix, with cheddar and jack) and sometimes an avocado. In the grill and the oven I flip it so it's half (like a flat taco) but in the pan I'll put one down, add the ingredients, and put another tortilla down. It's quick and fairly easy, and if you get good at it, it's not too hard to clean up.
