View Full Version : NEWS BRIEFS: Diaz Lets Justin Be

CLAIMED: Cameron Diaz, 31, says she is definitely not pressuring Justin Timberlake, 22, to settle down with her. "The truth is that if I wanted to be married with children right now, I would be married with children right now," the "Charlie's Angels" star tells February's W magazine. "Everybody thinks that just because they might be searching for a person to spend the rest of their life with, I am. Why is it that with every actress in a relationship, it's like, 'Oh, well, you're with that person because you want to get married and have a baby'?" As for the nine years between them, Diaz says: "It's not like this is the first time in the history of human relationships that people were drawn to one another because of who they are, not what age they are."

I was actually hoping they broke up. I know that's mean, and in general, I wish them both the best. I think Cameron is a unique talent - especially in older stuff like "The Mask".
But, as much as I love "Justified", I'm getting the impression more and more that Justin is a real opportunist. There is no way in hell he would have been so successful as a solo artist, as talented as he is, had it not been for the association with Britney (constantly being in magazines, etc.).
He should be a man and not answer any more Britney questions. He comes off as a real, sarcastic, immature jerk. Even if he was cheated on, it's really time to MOVE on for God's sake....
I actually wouldn't be surprised at all if he and Cameron get married. He seems totally whipped...

Just read this quote from Mr. "I need my privacy, yet I crave the media attention" Timberlake:
....Timberlake, who shot to fame during his high profile relationship with Britney Spears, fueled speculation in a recent interview that he and Diaz were considering marriage. "Cameron and I are at a special point in our relationship," he said. "But it is not something I want to tell the whole world about. We want to keep some part of our lives to ourselves."
Gee, Justin, if you want to keep your relationship private, why the f*** are you even talking about your relationship at all????
I know the media asks, but there are plenty of celebrities who just say "my personal life is private" and don't answer those questions, period.
He is really starting to bug me....

Source?
And, frankly, that quote sounds to me very much like a polite way of saying his personal life is private.
I also inherently mistrust any publication that says Justin rose to stardom during his relationship with Britney. He became famous as a part of *NSYNC, who just happen to be the group holding the record for most record sales in a week. That alone, apart from the years of sold-out tours, personal appearances, and other certified-platinum cd's, would have made him famous, even if he's been dating a chimp from the Memphis Zoo.

No sense in arguing with Justin fans :)
I actually think he has a really nice voice, and still listen to "Justified" a lot.
Appreciate your perspective - you are absolutely right about NSYNC, their massive success, etc.
I just have to wonder if he would be the unbelievably HUGE breakout star that he is and be so well-known by such a diverse audience - pop, R&B fans, etc. if not for all of the celebrity tabloid stuff, too.
Don't mean to imply that he is not talented - no doubt about that!

I love what Cameron had to say. I agree that I don't see why people make a big deal about their age difference. Its only nine years. Its interesting how she talks about how she isn't pressuring him about marriage because I've seen many people talk about how Justin should watch out because she is going to want to get married. I don't see why they assume she wants to. She is only 31.
Plus that quote about Justin considering marriage is from a tabloid. It isn't credible at all. It doesn't sound like anything that Justin would say. Especially since he has banned any questions about Cameron and Britney. Plus he has recently said that he doesn't want to get married right now.
Also if Justin is an opportunist for dating two women in the entertainment field than I guess the majority of actors and musicians are opportunists because they pretty much date others in the entertainment industry.
I agree with Pinky that he knows that they aren't dating him to get something from him and I would think it would be easier dating someone in the business because they would understand why he would have to be away a lot of the time. They would understand what he goes through because they go through it themselves.

Well... I wouldn't say Justin used dating Britney as a way to fuel his solo career, but he sure as hell got tons of mileage off of the breakup. Cry Me A River - the video in particular... hello. Unnecessary and rude, in my humble opinion. It made me lose some respect for him, just personally, because I felt that he used that breakup and the media storm surrounding it to get publicity and sell records.
I just feel that he rode that particular horse into the ground for his sole benefit. Playing the poor, wounded, broken hearted man.
I'm not saying he wasn't hurt or whathaveyou, if the suspected story is true. But the way he lashed out was, in my own opinion, unnecessary. Particularly for a man that is so private about his personal life.
But he certainly sold a lot of albums.
And no. Before all the Justin fans freak out on me... I'm NOT saying he wouldn't have sold plenty of albums on his own. I'm not knocking his talent. He's plenty talented. In fact, he's talented enough that the song would have held on it's own without the damned Britney video. His album would have sold even if he DIDN'T get on a New York radio station and admit to having oral sex with Britney. Because his album is good. Very good.
So while I think his relationship with Britney had nothing to do with his fame... he sure used the breakup to get as much mileage as he could.

And for the record also, since I forgot to comment on this... I think that's awesome that Cameron is like "psssh" about the comments about the age difference. Good for them. If they're happy and they're having fun, and if they enjoy each others company, who cares how old they are?
Personally, I think they really look happy together, and that's nice to see. It's good to see him really relaxed and happy when he's around her (at least in pictures, lol).

I'm confused about this post? Why did a little news bit focusing mainly on Cameron turn into a bitch about Justin post?
Why was Britney's name even mentioned by people? She isn't mentioned in the article. The so-called Justin quote being used as a reason to bash him was from a tabloid.
Bringing up interviews he gave almost 2 years ago is getting old and continuing to claim his fame and success is based on Britney and tabloids and anything else you can think of except his talent is also getting old.
Before all the Justin fans freak out on me
I'm not even close to freaking out, I'm just wondering why you and others feel the need to constantly tell us your version of "why Justin is successful" and recite his flaws over and over. It's 2004, can we stop discussing 2002?

Amen! I am sooooo sick of people saying that Britney is the reason he's successful. He is successful because he is so talented. Sorry...but people who say its all due to Britney and tabloids really need to open their eyes and get over the fact. I'm really sure that the Neptunes and Timbaland and all the other artists that respect him, only respect him because of the tabloids.

Good point, it never should have been turned into a Britney thing. Sorry bout that. Was just responding to someone else in here, but I should have caught that.
And considering how I complain about everyone bringing them up, I shouldn't have done it myself! Not sure what I was thinking! :)
But, to clarify one thing, neither she, nor their breakup, is in ANY means why he is successful. He's talented, and he's got good material. I never meant to make it sound like I think the breakup is wholly why he's successful. Just so that's clear.

Thanks, JoviFan! I was questioning the second post that contained a "quote" rather than the initial post, but it's good to know where the first one originated, too!

Maybe they think they have a chance to be Justin's girlfriend? :p

I personally just don't like them together...and don't ask me why because I don't even know lol. Just something about them together irks me. I like them separately, but not together :p
But I have to say, as much as I love Justin and all, I don't think I'd ever want to be his girlfriend because if we broke up I would be afraid that he would do the same thing he did with his breakup with Brit...talk about it in every interview, write a song about it, and make a video to go along with the song. I don't think I could deal with that. Even if Britney did cause the breakup or whatever, I admire her for being able to deal with it as maturely as she did. During a relationship, he does seem like he would be a really sweet and loving boyfriend though :)

Hmm...you think that Britney took the high road? I disagree. Now that she's promoting..she has taken a few jabs at Justin. And..from what I hear about her new video..she plays a woman out to kill her boyfriend. (The director of the video said he thought it was biographical.) But, everyone has their opinion. :)
