MEN! Seriously. And I thought I had a hard time making up my mind on things.

We (me and Chuck) had decided like, a week or so ago to take a trip to Aspen in Feb. I had said the Caribbean at first, but he really wanted to see snow and try skiing. So, ok, I said that would be fine. And now I REALLY wanna go to Aspen.. we found a really nice place to stay at a reasonable price and a cheap flight. Well, he's in Gainesville (N. Florida) for the week for a wedding. Apparently it's cold up there (well.. if you call the 50's cold). So, he called me tonight and said there's no way he's going to Aspen because he can barely stand Gainesville.

So now we're going to the Caribbean. And of course I don't wanna go there now. I wanna go fall on my ass when I try and snowboard.

And I wanna do it in front of a fireplace. Cause that's sexay.... :D

Dude! Go to the Carribean! Do it on the beach! LOL!

Yeeeah, but we live in Florida! 5 minutes from the beach! And I've done it on the beach before. I'm not a fan of the sand :(.

And sex in front of a fireplace just sounds so... sex-ay, lol.

Ok, and I hate wearing bathing suits, especially around guys. I'm way too self concious

Oh, i don't like bathing suits either. Tho I'm overweight and don't look good in a bathing suit.

Lemme tell you tho, snow is no fun. *shakes head* I dont like it! But you may. *shrugs*

So take a cruise, get a cabin with a balcony, and do it on the balcony. That's sexy... lol!

Ok, now that's cold! Everywhere in the Caribbean is expensive though :(. It's cheaper to go to Hawaii, and even cheaper to go to Paris. Im gonna try and convince him to go there when he gets back from Gainesville Sunday. Muwahahaaaaa

Dude, how much is it to go to Hawaii?

LA Lady
Jan 9th, 2004, 09:05 PM
Expensive? Go to www.icruise.com - cruises aren't expensive at all, when compared with what you get. I mean when you consider what you'd spend for hotel / airfare / food on a regular vacation, a cruise is cheap.

But that's just me.

Oh and if you're gonna consider a cruise, I recommend any of the following ports:

* St. Thomas
* St. Maarten
* Ocho Rios (Jamaica - a must see - actually if you can forego the cruise and just go to Jamaica... lol...)
* Grand Cayman
* Cozumel, Mexico

Anyhoo, either way I hope you have fun! :)

Oh hell.

I really want to go to Hawaii, my boyfriend really wants to go on a cruise.

But I don't wanna go on a cruise cuz I'm afraid the boat will sink (no joke, I'm scird!). Plus, what is there to do? Your just stuck on a boat for like 7 days or whatever. What's so great about them?

I've been on a ton of cruises (4 in the Caribbean, one in Canada and one in Greece). There is no other way to vacation in my opinion. I love them to death.

First off, on the days at sea... you sleep in, then get up and go lay out and get a tan or swim in the pool (or play on the waterslide, or climb the rock wall, or play putt putt or go ice skating depending on the ship you're on). Then you grab lunch and then spend the afternoon hitting the arcade or getting a massage / spa treatment. Or you can shoot pool, lounge in the library or play board games in the game room.

Then you have dinner, and then go to one of the shows, or to a karaoke bar, or to the nightclub, or the champagne bar, or the martini bar.

Then, of course, there's the "mini mall" on every ship. Shopping is a must.

There's food 24/7 available. All included, with one or two exceptions.

There is ALWAYS something open or going on. You can check your email on the internet cafe... (pricey, but I end up doing it all the time)...

Man there's so much to do!

Then there are the days at port. You get to spend anywhere from 8-12 hours in a port, and you can choose from a guided shore excursion (everything from horseback riding on the beach to kayaking in a lagoon to climbing ruins to having a beach bbq with margaritas) or just tour the city on your own... shopping, eating... sightseeing - it's all great!

In Jamaica I swam with dolphins and climbed waterfalls, in Grand Cayman I swam with stingrays, in Puerto Rico I went off on my own and shopped and ate, in St. Maarten I shopped, in St. Thomas I went to Magen's Bay (a GORGEOUS beach), in Cozumel I went to some ancient ruins, in Nassau I swam with dolphins and did a barbeque thing on a private island...

Clearly in Greece, everything I did in every port was a historic tour... but we'll stay focused on the Caribbean here.

I'm telling you, it rules. You rarely get sea sick and just bring a dramamine patch in case you do. You won't sink. I didn't go on a cruise until I was 18 because I was so worried about it. Turns out I worried for nothing.

There is no other way to travel, for me.

Hmmmmmmm... this sounds interesting... I might have to look into this... thanks so much! YAY! :D

Anything you ever want to know about a cruise, ask me. I can tell you about cruise lines I've been on, what ships are what, suggestions for ports, which ones I liked / didn't like... I'm a wealth of information.

I LOVE cruises, and I go on them a lot. LOL!

I think when you walk onto a cruise ship, you'll be floored. The first time I went on a cruise, I was 18 (yeah, sniffle, a decade ago - makes me sick).

Anyway, comparing that ship to the one I went on last fall... I mean it's insane. The ships now are literally floating cities. I have TONS of cruise pics I can show you, too, so you can see various things on the ships I have been on (I take pics of everything on a ship, lol).

Anyway, yes. That is all.

Yeah, pics! Woowoo! I wanna see. :D

Dude, yeah, ok... this whole cruise thing sounds kinda neat. But I'm having hard time finding one! I want one that leaves San Francisco and goes to Mexico. For like... I dunno, around 5 days. I can't f0cking find one!

Lemme see what I can dig up. And I'll PM you a link of pics from my most recent cruise. :)

LMFAO - see? I'm tellin ya... cruises rule. And you don't even have to pay for a cabin with a balcony or anything. Seriously - an indoor cabin will do it, and is cheaper. Sure it's cool to have a balcony (my friend and I had coffee out there every morning, so that was fun), but it's totally not necessary.

Besides you're never in your cabin except to sleep anyway.

I'm still investigating the San Fran thing. The only one I'm coming up with that's any good is on the Celebrity cruise line (which I found nice enough), and it goes to Cabo, Monterey and Catalina. And it has three whole days at sea (those are my favorite, lol).

But I'm looking into others.

Sunfire
Jan 9th, 2004, 09:51 PM
Yeah, totally! They look cool!

I just wanna go somewhere like... that has a beach, ya know? A beach w/ clear water! YAY!

LA Lady
Jan 9th, 2004, 09:58 PM
Definitely understandable. You really want the Caribbean, lol, but I'm sure the west coast of Mexico will be nice. Not sure if the water will be clear, but it will be nice.

Sunfire

I went to Mexico once when I was younger, and the water was clear! :D

Sweet! Well there ya go then! :) I

Glad you're enjoying the pics. I have tons, trust me. LOL! But most of em are boring. I really need to find the ones from the cruise I took in December 2001...

MafHoney

I'm not really into the whole cruise thing. I've been on 3 and I wanna do something different.

Nicki - From Tampa to Honolulu and including 4 nights in a 4 star hotel it's around $850 per person. Expedia.com has the best offers around on stuff like that

LA Lady
Jan 9th, 2004, 11:28 PM
Oh if you've done the cruise thing that's understandable. Skip it then. But consider Jamaica, lol. Man... climbing Dunn's River Falls (the coolest ever) and the shops and dude... yes.

Otherwise, Paris also sounds awesome! Mom and I are going to go eventually... :)

MafHoney
Jan 10th, 2004, 10:05 AM
I wasn't a really nig fan of Jamaica either, lol. It was too dirty for me.

Of course, so was Paris when I went there, but it's soooo romantic :D

LA Lady
Jan 10th, 2004, 03:00 PM
Aw man I'm not sure what part of Jamaica you saw or when, but dude, I loved it. It was my second favorite of all the places I've been... but we might have been in different parts.

Anyhoo... I hope you find somewhere awesome to go! And I can't wait to hear about it.

Can we just book a cruise online? Or should we go through a travel agent? Troy was talking about a travel agent...

And if you book a cruise like now but it doesnt happen until June, do you pay in June or now? (but not the monthly one, cuz we don't wanna do that)

LA Lady
Jan 10th, 2004, 06:18 PM
I have always booked cruises online, except for one which I did book through an agent but that was b/c it was a special cruise thing for charity.

And you generally pay all up front. You can talk to travel agents though and see how you feel about the pricing and whatnot.

Cruise? Dude. Two words.

Sea. Band.

Or um. Sea-band. Maybe that's one word? I dunno. But still yes.

Sunfire
Jan 10th, 2004, 06:49 PM
What's Sea band?

LoisFatone
Jan 10th, 2004, 06:53 PM
It's a...thingie. For whatchoocallit? That thing? It's a thingamabobber deal.

GAWD I can't think of the freakin' word I'm looking for!!

Okay, a cruise. In a boat, right? On water? You know! Some people don't feel good then? Ill.

What the hell is that called?! Dangit!

Sunfire
Jan 10th, 2004, 07:11 PM
WTF?

Like... stuff that doesnt make you sea sick?

LoisFatone
Jan 10th, 2004, 07:13 PM
Sea sick! That's what I was trying to think of! Sea-bands help with that. It's a wristband that keeps you from puking. Ugly wristband, yes, but puke's uglier.

(Oh and Nix, I'll PM you later on or tomorrow, k? Gotta go now!)

Sunfire
Jan 10th, 2004, 07:14 PM
