College students: Music Advice

I am involved in a student organization on campus that brings music acts to campus. I was wondering, if you could pick ANY three music acts that you think would be a HIT with college students, what would they be?

We need some ideas and want to know what college students are listening to right now. Oh, and PLEASE do NOT say Dave Mathews!

I'm not a student, but my son will be in college next year, and I have two nephews who are in college, and living on their respective campuses, so I might be able to help......

Queens of the Stone Age and Audioslave are very popular with all three of these guys.

I know that's only two, but it's now 3:00AM, and I'm too tired to think of any more!

Well we had Michelle Branch this fall at my college, and she had a HUGE turn out. I know a lot of people like Guster. Sorry I can't really think of anyone else right at the moment.

We're either getting Dashboard Confessional or OAR for the spring concert at my college. Both bands have big college followings.

Ok I worked at Universal so I have a few for ya! Not sure how you would go about getting them to come but here are some ideas, they are not really known that well yet.

Something Corporate (AWESOME BAND) -debuted at #22 on the Billboard charts with barely any airplay and no video except for MTV2 a few times

Jack Johnson he's just awesome

Matt Nathanson - kind of has a John Mayer vibe to him

Teitur - singer/songwriter, mellow sound

The Starting Line

Maria -smooth R&B, great voice

The Rapture - New wave type of stuff

LoPro, Avant, Floetry, Ryan Adams, Fiction Plane, Element Eighty, Laguardia, Calvin Richardson, Rufus Wainwright.

He's not on Universal but, Howie Day is really good.


And yes Dave Matthews is still HUGE. I've been in college for 6 years finally graduating in May and his fan base just continues to grow!

Well there's some ideas HAHA! I know there's more I could mention but I would be here all day.
