Ok I get it. I get it.
People have been raving for the past year or so about the LOTR movies. I never went to see them because I always insist on reading books before I see the movie version...
But finally I got worn down by friends, and went out and got the first two movies.
I watched one last night and one today... and I'm amazed. Seriously. The special effects... incredible... I mean seriously incredible. And the cinematography... wow...
And I'll tell you I hate how they keep you hanging at the end of the movie... which of course just leads you into the next one. So now I have to sit here and wait for the last one to come out on DVD so I can get it.
Anyhow, the point is, I finally GET what the big hype is. These are huge movies, and they're... I mean geez - they're epics. And of course in my mind, as I'm watching, I'm breaking down each scene... imagining how it was created... (cause that's a habit of mine).
And I'll admit, the damned elf is growing on me. I much prefer the Pirates of the Caribbean look, but I can see where Orlando got so many fans from the whole elf thing. He's cute in a strange way. It's the whole warrior thing, I think. And the eyes (which are, of course, fake). Cause he certainly doesn't say much.
But anyhow, just had to post and rave about the first two movies, because I'm thoroughly impressed. Not having read the books, I think they must have done an amazing job trying to squeeze that much "story" into a 3 hour movie. And they're successful in having the watcher understand what's going on.
