In Bob Garfield’s book “And Now a Few Words From Me Leading Ad Critic Lays Down the Law on Making Good Ads”, which was published last year (2003), he talks about ads that break the rules. He quotes Willa Ford’s song “I Wanna Be Bad”. Here is the little excerpt from his book.
“…And how-to instructor Robert W. Bly explains, "The top copywriters succeed because they know when to break the rules."
And lest you imagine that this is just a domestic phenomenon, please note the theme for the Asian Federation of Advertising Associations' AdAsia 2003: "Break the Rules."
Here's some not Proust:
I, I wanna be bad
You make bad feel so good
I'm losing all my cool
I'm about to break the rules
I, I wanna be bad
I wanna be bad with ya, baby
I, I, I, I, I wanna be bad, baby
— from "I Wanna Be Bad" Copyright 2000 by Willa Ford
Yessiree, baby, if you wanna be bad, set out boldly to break the rules. Then you can hardly fail….”
It’s nothing too much, but it is connected to Willa Ford.
Fact:
Willa Ford was also mentioned in Hannah Mander’s Unauthorized book about Craig David simply called “Gb Craig David”, which was published in 2001. Here is the excerpt about Willa.
“X is for... X girlfriend - Willa Ford”
