At long last, patient fans of Britney Spears' acting will get to see her star in a movie. She's settled on a follow-up to her 2002 debut in ''Crossroads,'' Variety reports. She'll produce and star in ''Door to Door,'' a story about a small-town girl who becomes famous. (Well, that shouldn't be too much of a stretch.) It's based on a novel written by Tobi Tobin and published, aptly, by MTV Books.

In the book, the teenage heroine leaves Michigan for Hollywood to become an actress. She dates a movie star, who gets her a job working the door at a top nightspot, a job that helps her meet even more famous people, who open more doors for her. Guess that's where the title comes from.

Spears has been attached to a number of movie projects since ''Crossroads,'' though development on her NASCAR-themed movie seems to have stalled, and it's unclear whether she'll still get to squeeze into a pair of Daisy Dukes for a big-screen version of ''The Dukes of Hazzard.'' She's also rumored to be among the potential costars of Tim Allen in the comedy ''In the Pink,'' where he'll play the lone man among a team of cosmetics saleswomen who sell makeup, um, door to door.

I was hoping she'd stretch her acting abilities and do an action movie or a drama or a Reese Witherspoon-esque role, but this sounds fun too. T4P!! ;)

Britney Spears is no longer an aspiring actress — having already starred in "Crossroads" — but for her next film role the singer is going to recall the days she was just starting out.

Spears has signed on to star in and produce an adaptation of author Tobi Tobin's "Door to Door," in which she'll play an ambitious teenager who tries to make it in Hollywood.. The story's narrator, like the author, is named Tobi. She leaves her small hometown of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, at the age of 17 to model in New York.

Unsuccessful there, she finds her way to Los Angeles and edges her way into the film-world elite by barhopping and going to parties, ever in search of a producer. She eventually falls into a relationship with a famous actor, but in the meantime she works the door at an old friend's club, where doors open for her.

The next step is hiring writers to adapt the book into a screenplay, New Regency Vice President of Marketing Michael Brown said, since the project is still in development and the timeframe remains undetermined. Twentieth Century Fox will distribute the film once it's completed.

i hope she does a good job on this movie. The book is petty good my library has it and i skimmed through it once now i gusee i should read it all.

yea, sounds like Glitter to me. But I actually thought Glitter was a decent movie, people just didn't give it a chance after the jokes about Mariah's breakdown.

Hopefully this will do better than Glitter though :)

i dont believe shell do a movie like that...i mean...the story is too much old...always the same....glitter...even crossroads..are all similar.........
