here's an answer from the Roxio support site:

if you are not REQUIRED to burn as an "audio" CD format... you can use mp3 instead and get TONS of audio time (there are several players that play "mp3 cds" as well - CDs that are basically mp3 data files instead of the "audio" format data)

I read the link that you post and I still have some questions. Hope you can answer them.

You link says that it is possible to write more than 80 min. but most cd player only allow 78 min. of music. Is that true?

Also you link said that you can burn music on a blank dvd and use it as a blank cd. Is that true?

How would I find out if my cd player will play more than 80 min.?

Where would I find 90-99min. blank cds?

if you want to burn it as an "audio" CD that of over 80 minutes... it's kind of hit or miss of if players will be able to play them... you just have to try it on them I guess (don't think it would be in the manuals or anything).
kind of like how if you have CD-R and CD-RW.. you have to just try it on like some OLD cd players sometimes they play on them sometimes they don't..

they were talking about burning a CD in as an "mp3" CD that you hopefully would play in certain DVD players (you can also play "audio" CDs in most DVD players as well)... may or may not support "mp3" CDs... again, either just try it or that would be more likely to be in the manual for the DVD players I think..

I also remember reading something before about how if you try to "overburn" past stuff like 80 minutes... that depending on the CD burner you have, EVEN if you have media that supports it might SOMETIMES destroy the drive itself!!.. have to be careful w/ doing that kind of thing.

some manufacturers ARE making 90 and 99 minute CD-R.. like TDK... not sure if you can get them in "regular" stores like Best Buy and such though... you can ask around and if they don't have them ask if they know if there is a store that might sell them...

you should be able to find a bunch of places on the web that sell them though..

Oh my gosh! It that true about "if you burn a cd more than 80 min. it will destroy the cd drive?? Well then I am just going to have to leave it on my computer.

My drives are already messed up!! My dvd drive doesn't recognizes dvds. My computer came with that problem, I don't want to mess up my cd drive.

Thanks for your help!! I really appericate it!!:D

was there a specific reason that you wanted to get more than 80 minutes of audio on ONE disc??..

if it was like a single audio file that was larger than 80 minutes, then you can maybe either zip the file to compress it (if it will fit), or convert it to mp3 format...

or you can break the audio file into more "cd" sized chunks and burn them to like a couple of CDs
