Poll: Favorite video game consoles

What are your favorite video game consoles?

I have a playstation - had for over 5yrs. I don't like like it anymore - no PS1 games are being sold anymore - and even if they're - all those games are so old now, and just no good at all.

Anyway, I'm not sure but I think at this stage I'd prefer a PS2 or xbox. You can play DVDs on an xbox right? Or is it both? My cousin has a PS2 and the graphics are awesome.

PS2 and Xbox can play DVDs - but ONLY "valid" forms of DVD in YOUR region (or region free) - means you can't play stuff you burn from your computer w/out "modding" the box (installing a new chip in the box and violating any warranty you might have).

GC obviously cannot play DVDs as the discs are only like 2 inch wide for those games :wink: lol..

PS2 WILL play almost all PS1 games as well and can use the PS1 memory cards you already have for your PS1 game saves (you'll need a PS2 card to save PS2 games as well)... then you would still be able to enjoy any old PS1 stuff as well as the new PS2 stuff..

when I got my PS2... I didn't have a PS1... but I went around and bought up all these "used" games for PS1 and got them at GOOD prices, I'm still playing some of them :) lol..

I've only run into ONE game so far that I've found that didn't work quite right on the PS2.. but it was probably just written poorly.. it MOSTLY works, but it's sort of messed up.

I've seen so many problems with PS2 and XBox. Xbox is good. I like it. But, I have to say Gamecube. I've only had one problem with it but it wasn't the system itself it was the game. And it loads quicker then both of them. I currently have 3 games where it takes quite a bit loading time but not all that bad.

Yep, that's true, I'll admit that, lol. That's the only problem I've had with PS2 so far, though, and it's only been on a few of the games.

I still like playing my super nintendo & dreamcast. But my favorite is the PS2....sometimes.

I picked Gamecube because I have it and have never played on any of the other ones. I would like to get the other ones though. But I actually don't even use my Gamecube that much.

I don't know where you're looking but every EB Games, GameStop, and GameCrazy I've ever shopped in are loaded with the old PS games. There's TONS.

Anyway. I'd have to say PS2 is the best since you can play both the orginal games as well as the newer ones. Plus they have the biggest selection of rpg's and more games then any console in general.

I had to reply "other." Even though I work for Sony, I have a hard time being biased. And since I own every game system since the Atari (no pong anymore :(), and I have all of them hooked up and playable at any given moment, it doesn't really give me an opportunity to favor one over the other. It really depends on what mood I am in at the moment. For instance, currently I am playing Star Ocean: Til the End of Time, so my PS2 will probably be my favorite system for the next 100 hours of game play. But Fable comes out this week, so I may have to push Star Ocean aside to play that, and that's an XBOX game...

Too many choices :D

How is Star Ocean? I keep seeing that in commercials but I don't know if I want to buy it or not. Is it really good?

So far it's great :) I was kind of leary because it had good graphics. I know that sounds stupid, but lately good graphics does not equal good game play. But I really like the way the battle system is set up, and so far the story line is pretty good too. In depth, but not stereotypical at the same time :) Did that make sense? LOL. Anyway, yes, it's a good game.

I'll probably buy it later since I already have Fable pre-ordered and will most likely spend every waking hour on that. :D

I am just glad to see Fable finally being released! I have been watching it since it was still Project EGO and knew it was going to be fantastic. Then, over the last three years, watched them put out release dates and then change them and then take them away and then put out a release date....

And we finally get to see the game in real life! Yippee :D I will most assuredly be married to my XBOX for a while ;)

PS2 is by far the best because it has the best games at reasonable prices. I love the action games that PS2 offers and the quality are so much better! I own PS1 too and it was a hot item back in the day too. Xbox would be my second choice though.
