I remember the times I've watched these two play each other(once this year, once at the Paris Masters at the end of last year which Tim won and the U.S. Open first round)they've always produced good match which is extremely fun for me as I like both players a lot! The first round at the U.S. Open was a bit one sided but I still thought it was quite good.

David Nalbandian withdrew today with a rib injury. Horna will replace him to face Ancic(shame as I was looking forward to this match)and a lucky loser will play the match Horna was going to play.

Hewitt seems to be coming back and looks to be playing well but I think Federer is still the one to beat, I think. Roddick plays Dent next which will be interesting and so will Henman v Arazi. In the Davis Cup last year when Great Britain took on Morrocco Arazi beat Henman, but it was on clay. Funnily enough, Tim Hanman is the sole Bri left and with England out of Euro 2004 all sporting eyes will be on him, as usual! A few British women got through the early rounds but are now all out. To be fair, the one, Baltacha, had a tough one against Capriati and didn't do too badly considering the gap in the rankings. Capriati won 6-4, 6-4. Rusedski lost in a 5 setter to Schuettler and Mark Hilton lost to Hrbaty. Good luck to Tim!

Today was a complete wash-out with no play whatsoever for the second time this week. So, for only the third time I think will they play on the middle Sunday at Wimbledon. They are really behind schedule.

Well it rained today at Wimbledon on People's Sunday but not until most of the match were over. Roddick, Federer and Henman all got through in the men's and Serena, Capriati, Sprem and Mauresmo also won through. Henman had us all in a bit of a state but came through against Arazi in four sets. He will play Philippoussis next, Roddick will play Popp and Federer will take on the extremely tall Ivo Karlovic who beat Lleyton Hewitt in the first round of Wimbledon last year.

Phew. What a day! Henman beat Philippoussis...just. He won the first two sets but this is Henman, he has to give the crowd a near heart attack at least once in the match! And he did. Mark 'SCUD' Philippoussis won the third set on a tiebreak. In the forth set Henman had a few match points on Mark's serve but didn't take them and it went to another tiebreak which Tim won in the end. He now plays Mario Ancic from Croatia who beat Xavier Malisse, well kinda, Malisse had to retire in the second set. Schalken takes on Roddick; Roddick looked really relieved after beating the 6"7 Popp from Germany, he serves really big too! Federer beat Korlovic(the man who beat Hewitt first round last year)and will take on Hewitt who beat Moya. Sharapova also won, beating Myskina's conqueror, Amy Frazier. Golovin also finished her match and will play Serena Williams next. Sugiyama will play Sharapova. Davenport beat Zvonareva.

Well, it was ladies' day today and it was good. I saw Sharapova in a good match against Sugiyama which she eventually won 5-7 7-5 6-1. Davenport beat Venus' conqueror Karolina Sprem and will now face Maria. Lindsay is playing very well. Capriati beat Petrova and will meet Serena(again!) who saw off brave and talented youngster Tatiana Golovin. Maursemo beat Farina Elia and will play French Open semi-finalist Paulo Suarez who beat Grande.

Well Maursemo beat Suarez over 3 sets. Good luck to her against Serena in the semis who absolutely thrashed the one person who I thought could beat her, Capriati. I am rooting for Mari but I like Davenport too so it's a win win situation for me hehe.
In the mens Henman was beaten by an awesome Ancic. I don't think the Centre Court crowd knew who he was and was stunned by the way he played. He totally deserved to win. Roddick, who beat Schalken, will have a tough time against him hehe! In a classic match which sadly had to end on a double fault Federer beat Hewitt over four sets. He will play Grosjean who saw off surprise package Mayer.

Well, what a day for women's tennis! Yesterday was rather disappointing with the dud of a match between Serena and Jennifer but today's semi finals made up for it. I didn't see Sharapova v Davenport as I was out with friends but I saw the highlights and it looked like a good match. People are saying it was a good match too. I am so thrilled for Sharapova getting to her first Grand Slam final. I hope she can handle her nerves on Saturday.
I saw the second semi-final between Amelie Mauresmo and Serena Williams. For the first set and a half Mauresmo looked totally relaxed and showed us how she can play when she's not tense. She had a chance to win it(she could have gone two breaks of serve up) but it wasn't to be and Serena did what a champion does best - come from behind when the chips are down. She got angry at herself and then upped her game which co-incided with Mauresmo needing treatment on her back which could be attributed to nerves(being so nervous and tense that your body begins to hurt). I thought Serena would dominate the thrid set but Mauresmo hung in there but Serena won in the end. For the first set the quality of the tennis was great and it was nice to see Serena being tested and then subsequently how she responded to the challenge. Towards the end of the match the quality wasn't always there with both players hitting a couple of bad shots but it was still a great match because you couldn't tell what was going to happen next. Great. Saturday it will be Serena v Sharapova. C'mon Maria! I'm surpirsed she's in the final. I knew she had talent but I'm amazed at how quickly she has made the step up.

Who is Masha?
Today, the men's semi-finals were rain interrupted so Roddick v Ancic was put onto Court One, much to the Court One crowd's delight. However, bad light stopped play with Federe 2 sets up on Grosjean and only 2 games away from the final. Roddick was a set and a break up against Ancic. Play will resume tomorrow at 12pm GMT.
Good luck to Maria in the final! It was revealed today that before her semi-final against Lindsay Davenport she sat a Sociology exam!

I have been waiting for Mario Ancic to happen ever since he beat Roger Federer the first round of Wimbledon in 2002 and he has finally made a breakthrough beating Tim Henman and getting to the semi-finals of a grand slam. However, his dream was ended today by Andy Roddick. Mario did play really well but Roddick was too much in the end winning 6-4 4-6 7-5 7-5. They went off court on Friday with Roddick a break up in the second set but a break point down and when they resumed today he lost the second set. When there were a few dark clouds above Roddick said to the umpire that they should go off before he started serving in case it started raining while he was doing so(like the day before)so they went off, much to Mario's disgust. It wasn't raining at that point and other courts were playing but I think it did then rain. Roddick came back, served comfortably and broke Mario and eventually won the set. Then it really started to rain so they had to go off again but when they resumed Roddick managed to tough it out and win. So, it will be a Roddick v Federer final. I'd love Andy to win but unless Roger goes on an all night drinking binge I don't see anyone beating him!
The women's final, I thought, was good but that might be because the person I was supporting won. :) I thought Maria would be overawed by it al but it was far from it as she took the game by the scruff of the neck. Serena was very gracious in defeat and looked genuinely happy for her. I am so glad for Maria and I hope it's the first of many. I loved the moment when she rushed up to see her dad and they hugged and then she tried to phone her mother but her phone kept switching itself off!

^^ there is no better feeling than that.......Maria will be on a high for quite a while and may meet Boris Yeltsin, the former president of Russia just like Anastasia Myskina and Elena Dementieva did two weeks ago

I'll be honest, I'm gutted today. I thought Roger would win before the match but the way Andy came out and won the first set I thought he had a chance. It was a bit of a scrappy match but the most competitive men's Wimbledon final since Rafter lost to Ivanisevic in 2001. I've heard Andy called brash, arrogant etc., but I have to defend him. He was gracious out there today. Quote of the day(for me, at least) "I threw the kitchen sink at him but after the rain delay he came at me with his bath tub!" Andy Roddick after he lost to Federer in post match interview with Sue Barker.
