So, I've been having a love/hate relationship with Christian fiction lately as it seems a good majority of it is far too perfect for me...not dealing with real life and everything just seems to perfect. Well I was standing in the Christian book section trying to find the next book in a good series I found when this other woman who was looking at books started talking to me. We came to find out we have that perfection issue in common and she suggested that I read this book "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers. I've read other books from this author and they were really good so I decided to take a chance and by God am I beyond glad I did.

I would suggest this book for everyone but even more if you are in that place where you're searching for God, honestly as I was reading the book I thought of you Chad I'm not sure why but your name kept coming to mind. The book follows the story of Hosea but is set in the 1800's, it could be a shocking book to those that are used to the candy Christian books but if you've read the book of Hosea or any of the other "rough" parts of the bible then I can't see how you could not like this book. The way this author combined God's love with the love of a husband for his wife is stunning and how the husband of this "lost" woman loves her through her faults like God called him to is amazing. I cried reading this book at the though of how much God loves each of us and how He will not let us go without a fight. Even now I get misty just thinking about the emotions this book pulled out of me and the amazing things that I've learned through it.

Now as you would suspect, the book could be deemed more girly but I was so seriously touched by God in this book that I think any guy would get the same things out of it by reading it. Please do not be put off by it because it may seem like a female book because if you do you will be missing something amazing. I think I can easily say that this is the best fiction book I have ever and maybe will ever read.

Hosea is probably one of the weirdest stories in the Bible.

I'll have to check this book out. I don't think I've ever actually read Christian fiction.

and uh, as a sidenote I was typing this out and distracted and someone said thanks to me and I said No probly meaning no problem. Thanks for making me sound dumb, Liz.:p

It amuses me that there have been 32 views to this and you and I are the only ones replying Goddess...

Well what can I say?

Not everyone can be as amazing as we are. ;)

I'm posting! :D

Thanks for the suggestion, Liz, on the fiction. I was just in the bookstore yesterday and was trying to find something good and not too Pollyanna, you know? Something more "real" like you said . . . . (Is it weird that I put the word real in quotation marks there . . . like real is somehow not real?) Anyway, since we're talking Christian fiction, if you're into thriller sort of books, I would suggest Ted Dekkar as an author. I've only read one of his books, Thr3e, but I really liked it. It was fluffy -- not what I would classify as high-minded literature, but it was a fun, recreational read. Yesterday I bought his book, Blink, and am hoping to be similarly pleased. Also, a question for ya': have you read Theodora's Diary? I ran across it yesterday and it seemed to be a sort of Christian version of Bridget Jones's Diary and, after skimming the first few pages, seemed like something that would amuse me. Have you read it? Did you like it?

Thanks for the suggestions Merry! No, I haven't read Theodora's Diary...I can't even say I've seen it in the store here yet. I will have to keep my eye open for it and check it out next time I'm there.
