CYBERSPACE (AP) _ Two of the women from The Bangles have a date with Paul McCartney tonight. Guitarist Vicki Peterson and bassist Michael Steele will accept honorary degrees from the Liverpool Institute of the Performing Arts from McCartney himself. McCartney co-founded the school in 1996 on the site of the school where he and George Harrison attended grammar school. The Bangles' web site says The Bangles conducted a master class at the school in March 2003 and it was believed to be the highest-attended session the school has ever had. The Bangles will be honored as ``Companions'' for their achievements in the performing arts and contributions to the school. It's the first time the school has honored an entire band, but the entire band can't be there. Drummer Debbi Peterson will not be able to attend because she's expecting a child, and singer Susanna Hoffs can't go because she's currently a mom.

I totally read that as "and singer Susanna Hoffs can't go because she's currently a man"

"because she's currently a Mom"? I think I'd ditch the kids to do anything with Paul.

Especially when she has a song about John Lennon.

Is she the one who had a thing with Prince for a while?

Yep. He wrote one of their hit songs, but I can't remember which one.

I saw her open up for Henley one year. Walkin' like an Egyptian and all.

That was my favorite song as a kid. How old were you when that song came out, 20? :p

Walk Like an Egyptian was your favorite song as a kid?

I liked Yellow Submarine, and the Sesame Street theme song :p

I also liked Rainbow Connection. Anything Disney or Muppets related, really. But as far as popular music, that was probably it.

*visions of Justin Timberlake and Kermit singing Rainbow Connection*

I was a teenager at least.

I barely knew the Beatles back before that time. In high school is when I really started to discover them.

And always a fan of Muppets, recently excessively Disney.

Not until highschool?!?!? And you dare question me being a fan?!?!

And Katie - it was one of the funniest SNL's. Especially when he played Jessica Simpson. Got them all saved on the computer. hehehe

Do you remember Lorne in his Beatles "skit"?

bekahbeans
Aug 5th, 2004, 02:41 AM
are you asking me this question, or Katie?

db44
Aug 5th, 2004, 02:55 AM
You primarily.

You who questions my fandom.

Do you mean the skit where he offers the Beatles 500 dollars or something like that to get back together, or at least just sing one song? And they can split the $$ any way they want - even give less to Ringo if they so choose.

If that's what you're referring to, then it depends on what you mean by remember but yes I've seen it several times.

Anyone who questions fandom around here can kiss my butt. And that concerns bands, sports, etc. :p

Katie's just saying that cause she's not a real fan. :p

Yeah that one. Lorne was actually somewhat serious with that plea, or so the story goes.

I think anyone who has all of their albums, on CD and most on vinyl, and a number of their DVD's, and who is extremely excited to take a class about them, is a fan.

Oh yeah, did I mention owning a t-shirt. Rock on.

Whoa, how'd you know the exact album in which he was to die for? You must have found him attractive then as well.

db44
Aug 10th, 2004, 05:26 AM
Maybe I know you better than you think.

Or maybe I just thought it sounded similiar to when you said "when he was hot."

Oh, and we've officially decided, should this trip go well in October, to offer a Liverpool trip early next year. :D
