We now have a month and a half of the season left in this year that started off with the fall of Balco.

Adam Dunn leads the majors with 36 home runs. A couple of Red Sox (Ortiz and Ramirez) lead the AL with 30... If you look at the "projected stats" on ESPN, it says Dunn could finish with 51 dingers, which sounds about right but maybe just a tad high for what I'd expect.

The three big Balco "candidates"? Well, Bonds is still in the hunt with 31 HRs... Yet we know him to have also been a workout freak before this investigation came up, so that makes sense (in other words, he just enhanced his already powerful situation). Sosa, in limited play, has 25 HRs. Giambi is currently on the DL after a supposive operation to remove a benign tumor. It is the latest of his "injuries" that sent him to the DL, with others also being somewhat suspicious. Even if he had the tumor, a lot of people wonder if it's anything like Lyle Azado's. Giambi, in 70 games, has 11 homre runs.

One other point of interest which has been spreading slightly through NYC... Piazza, in a year where he has spent more time at first than catcher, going to a less strenuous position, is now on the DL with an "ailing knee." That doesn't explain his still rather un-Piazza-like performance this year: .276 average (down from .317), 17 home runs.

A number of players seem to be having down years. Yeah, it could be coincidence, but when I look at how the most mighty have all fallen, and in the course of one year, I have to wonder.

I don't know what to say, but it all makes sense. If this whole investigation has put people back in check, then that's a very good thing, I'd say.

I wonder how the Babe did it all.

I get what you are getting at.....the announcers on FOX yesterday were talking about how the Yankees are keeping it quiet (as far as details) and going on about how they feel we have the right to know...not sure I agree with that 100%.....Speaking of the SOX though, what is with Pedro??? Did you happen to catch his "display" from the dugout yesterday??
