Does anyone have it? Is it any good?
Im running Windows XP and I want to download it, since its the only free image editor I can find to do the task I want to do.

I have GIMP installed, but now I dont know how to open pictures in GIMP.
I dont want to mess up my computer. I'll probably just uninstall it.

I figured out how to open a picture in GIMP, but its odd how I have to do it. Im not quite sure why I cant just open a photo file like normal, instead I have to either take a picture from my scanner or take a screenshot of it.

 Now Im mad! I finally figured out how to do what I wanted to do and then after I was finished I tried to save but it wouldnt let me. Just when I thought I had it figured out how to save the new picture onto my computer, GIMP messed up, well it said I did it, and my picture is gone!
*very frustrated*

Well, I managed to save it in GIMP, but I dont understand why I cant save a jpeg copy to my computer. The only files it lets me select from are program files and such. All I want is to save a copy of the picture in jpeg form to my photo album, it should be simple, but this GIMP thing is far from simple.
If photoshop is any simpler, I think I would rather buy an older version of photoshop and dump the headache that is GIMP.

It saved my picture to my C: folder. I then moved it from there to My Documents. I wonder if I can delete it from my C: folder now? Im not sure why this has to be so complicated in this day and age. Oh well, its free so I cant complain much. Im surprised I've figured this much out so far!

You uh...do realize you've been talking to yourself this whole thread right?
I have gimp. I use it all the time. But I'm a genius so...

What do you use it for?
If I dont say so myself, I've gotten fairly good at doing what I do with it. Maybe in the near future I will share a few pictures with you.

Actually, I knew someone like bekah would come along and eventually read and post, therefore I was not "talking" (posting) to myself.
And this is a message board, I figured someone may be having similar problems or are just new to imaging software and may need help also.

yeah, yeah, sure...
but since you were the only one w/ posts in this topic, so who exactly were you "replying" to then? lol

I was simply adding to what I had learned or had not learned. And obviously I had readers, but no posters, therefore my posts are justified, and now I have two posters, that makes it even better.

lol, you two are funny
Yes, do share pics, Chad.
And I use it mainly to just crop and resize photos. I'm so advanced.

Ooh, that looks cool! Did you use gimp to change the colors and everything?
That's too complicated for me. I just make pictures smaller, or crop them ;)

It is complicated. I cant quite explain it. Basically, I take a color image, duplicate it, make the duplicate b&w and copy and paste the duplicate over the original color picture, add some kind of layer mask and then use the paintbrush to erase away parts of the b&w picture to allow color from the original picture to show through.
Here is another that people seem to like.

I think I get it, mostly.
That's a very cool one. I like it better than the flower.
