Capitol to reportedly release Lennon "Acoustic" disc

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update (8/27/04) From Franco Alvear:

The name of the album is "Love: John Lennon Acoustic" and features 17 unreleased takes (of songs previously available, but in acoustic form this time) and 1 unreleased track. No more info at the moment.
Regards,
Franco Alvear

Another source, however, says the album project, approved by Yoko, is still untitled and it is going to be a best-of release (very much similar to the "Lennon Legend" release). However, the source says there will be some bonus track for the Asian region, though it's uncertain if these tracks will go worldwide.
Earlier news items (from Quick news links):
Update (8/25/04)

A reliable source confirms the "Acoustic" Lennon disc item we posted yesterday is correct, though no other details are available as yet. (Thanks Anonymoose.)
Update (8/24/04) Last week, Musictap.net had a short little item that mentioned plans for an Oct. 19 Lennon release. "We'll close for today with the gentle wash of a John Lennon issue coming from Capitol Records on October 19. It looks like it will be called 'Acoustic.' " No further details were given, but we'll keep an ear out. (Thanks to Sean Roper.)

I'd rather see an acoustic disc than whatever the ptb will end up doing for the next re-wrap of best-of stuff.

Excuse my ignorance, I'm not down with the lingo home slice. What does "ptb" stand for?

Who needs a best of? Buy the real albums.

Yeah, I never bought One or any of them, but that's why the acoustic album would be cool: Relatively new stuff.

I wholeheartedly agree. However, the Yoko tracks on Double Fantasy don't really move me, but to each his own. I don't have any problem with greatest hits compilations like Lennon Legend because they suck people in (nothing wrong with that imho). I can't blame cats for not diggin' Kiss, Kiss, Kiss.

I'm a fan of compilations, only because I own all of these records, (yes, vinyl) and I enjoy listening to them more than CDs. The comps. are nice for my car.

lol, I actually like Kiss Kiss Kiss. But I totally understand people disliking it so I could see wanting a compilation to get rid of the Yoko stuff. I for one find her rather amusing so I just put all the songs of hers I wanted on my computer and left the rest. I just can't help but enjoy her singing "I'm Your Angel"

Katie - put the records on CD. Obviously. :p

My index finger gets a workout on that album (pushing the skip button), lol.

Hm, well I had an interesting experience just now.

Apparently I have never actually listened to Kiss Kiss Kiss the whole way through and had no idea she somehow reaches a climax at the end of the song. I'm just sitting here, listening to my itunes library when all of the sudden I realize that someone in my computer is having and orgasm.

How disturbing. I think I'll have to skip that song earlier like I usually do...

LMAO! You're too funny Bekah. I actually remember the first time I heard that song, I felt like I was on acid.

Here's what we're getting:

NEW YORK (AP) _ Capitol Records is releasing two John Lennon albums November second. The first is a remixed and remastered version of his classic ``Rock 'n' Roll'' album with four bonus tracks. The second album is a compilation of his acoustic stuff. Yoko Ono supervised both releases.

Is it a double disc, or are they being sold seperately?

I'm glad I didn't buy the "Rock 'n' Roll" album last week then. It's the only commercial release that I haven't purchased. I always hate it when you buy a CD only to have the "remastered" version come out a week or a day later.

Bekah - It would be my guess that these CD's will be sold separately.
