It will certainly be a GREAT joy watching Jennifer against Serena. Lord knows those two can demonstrate a fantastic match, and for Jennifer to win this time, she would need more than just that weak mental-control ability of hers; she would need to be in her top form.
It was kind of disappointing to see Mary Pierce beating this year's Wimbledon’s champion really, no offense to anyone who's Mary's fan, but I was SO looking forward for a match between Maria Sharapova and Justine Henin.
My take on this tournament would be... Justine against Serena, (Justine will definitely be in the top two, her medal in Athens was certainly not a fluke and her mentality is as brawny as Serena’s)

I'm enjoying the US Open so much! I'm disappointed Maria's out too. Glad Davenport and Capriati are still in though. You would think Capriati would beat Dementieva because of her injury but you never know. One thing Dementieva needs to do though is sort out her ball toss! I stayed up late yesterday to watch Capriati v S.Williams. After the first set I thought it'd be another Wimbledon encounter but Jen Jen fought back. However, I felt sorry for Serena because she had some nasty calls, especially the one where the linesperson called it in and the umpire just gave the point to Capriati. Serena was understandably irate. Before the tournament I fancied Davenport to win it and she's still there. Hey, it could be a veteran final with Jen Jen v Davenport. There is still a bit of a way to go though with Petrova(who beat Henin-Hardenne)to face fellow Russian Kuznetsova. The winner of that then faces either surprise quarter finalist package Asagoe or the experienced Davenport. Dementieva plays Capriati in the other semi-final.
In the men's, Roddick is looking good and so is Hewitt but Haas looks as if he's back with something to say! I haven't seen Federer play but he's making his way through the draw with relative ease as is Agassi and they are supposed to play each other today but it's been raining a lot in New York. Roddick plays Joachim Johansson in the quarters. He's served 76 aces so far this tournament and I think the Swede will prove Roddick's toughest test this tournament so far. You'd expect Andy to win but this Joachim has been playing well and if he can take it to a few tie-breakers anything can happen. And Brit Tim Henman has got his best showing at the US Open. He'd reached the fourth round a few times but is now in the quarters and faces a tough opponent in Hrbaty which I'm waiting to see if the rain clears. It's amazing Tim has made it this far because the weekend before the US Open he couldn't walk because he had severe back pain and I think it's bothered him throughout the tournament but he's managed to come through it to get this far. It is gone midnight and I was up until 3.30am the other night watching Capriati and Williams and then the first set of Roddick v Robredo. I would have liked to have seen the whole thing but I was so tired. Hewitt plays Haas and I can't really call that one, should be good. C'mon Jen Jen, Lindsay, Andy, Andre and Tim!

The rain came down yesterday. Tim Henman was 2 sets to love up against Dominic Hrbaty and a break up in the third set when he broke back and then it rained again. Agassi and Federer were also halted by the rain with Federer winning two sets to one. However, the remaining women's quarter finals managed to be completed with Lindsay Davanport sweeping aside Asagoe 6-1 6-1 and Kuznetsova beating countrywoman Petrova 7-6 6-3.

I am sad Andy lost but Tim is through. The crowd was a bit small for his match but I think when the match began they were all thrown off guard with the weather. I am not really sure about when his match resumed the next day. Perhaps they were all on Arthur Ashe. Hewitt's sister has split loyalties. Who does she cheer on in the semis? Her brother or her boyfriend? I think Joachim said he's confident he'll have her support. Blimey, when Kim Clijsters gets back and if Hewitt's sister turns professional then the Hewitt family will spend all day watching tennis lol!

Hewitt is going for his third slam.Meanwhile, Roger is trying to become the first man to win their four first slam and the first man since 1988 to win three slams in a year.

Well he did. Congratulations to him. I have to be honest, I was not particularly interested in the men's final. I find sport hard to watch if I can't get behind someone and although I wouldn't say I don't like Hewitt or Federer I wouldn't say I liked them either. Federer Express wins the first set 6-0 but I wasn't watching. Cam downstairs a bit later and saw that it was 5-5 so I watched from then on because I thought it was becoming more of a match. I was wrong and Federer continued to play awesome tennis and won the third set 6-0.
I was more interested in the women's final. I thought for sure Davenport would be in the final but she got injured. :( I'm not sure how well Kuznetsova played as I didn't see it. I saw Jen Jen v Dementieva though. I won't forget that one in a while! So an all Russian final. I was cheering for Dementieva but Kuznetsova knew how to punish her serve. I really hope Elena can get it sorted because if she can then I think she could win a grand slam. It wasn't a classic final but it wasn't bad either, better than the 2004 French Open women's final at least! Well done to Kuznetsova on her first grand slam.
Tim Henman had an amazing two weeks. He's reached two semi finals this year in grand slams and neither one was at Wimbledon! Apart from the Australian Open Tim has bettered his performances in the other two grand slams that aren't in Britain! Well done Tim. For the fourth time in six semi-finals Tim lost to the eventual winner. Considering his best showing at the US Open before this year was the fourth round and the weekend before the Us Open he couldn't even walk because of a back problem I think he's done extremely well! Britain has another reason to be cheerful though. Andrew Murray from Scotland won the boys junior final! Well done Andrew! He's been picked to play in Britain Davis Cup team against Austria too. :)
