View Full Version : I love ya, Hard Rock, but...

I was at the new Hard Rock Cafe at Foxwoods Casino yesterday and commented to my friend that they don't have enough Beach Boys stuff in any Hard Rock. Yes, I'm biased, but nothing is sure not enough for a band which has meant so much to the music industry. For instance, on one wall there was a huge Rancid poster... What makes Rancid so important? Factor in that few under-21s go to Foxwoods (while the we were probably the youngest people in the restaurant at the time, 30 & 28 and Beach Boys fans) and it just makes me wonder.
Well, that can be a question of opinion, the thing that really p!ssed me off came when the food did.
It was around that moment when a video came up on the screens. A song and band which is right up there with the Beach Boys and the Beatles in my book: The Who. The first synthesizers come up and I turn to my friend and say "is this Baba O'Riley?" The keyboard comes in. Yep. Then the name of the video is put up: The Who: Teenage Wasteland.
:greyno:
Not to mention, they had some live version of the song/video from the later years. No Moonie on drums, but Kenny Jones.
argh!

But I can't! :manson:
In most cases I'd say the mistake is easy to make, but for a major corperation based on this music, it's unacceptable.

My question is...
how much Beatles stuff was there? That's more important anyway.

A bit. Large paintings of Beatle and Lennon album covers, and a big picture of them as the Peppers.
And they played "Love me Do" on the video screen, whcih they named correctly.
I might have to go to the Hard Rock Cleveland this weekend. :p

I've only been to a few Hard Rock's and I haven't been all that overly impressed. I'm not a big fan of those types of restaurants, although when we ate at the ESPN Zone, that was pretty good.
The Hard Rock Hotel's concert hall, The Joint, is the best place in town by far to see a concert though. Too bad the tickets are usually quite expensive, but it's limited seating.

What'd I do?

I'm relieved that they got "Love Me Do" right on the screen. Lat time I was there, they played it, only to have it titled "Song That Starts Off With a Harmonica That Resembles the Sesame Street Theme Song."
...........True version of this story? That was the association I had with the song the first time I ever heard it. Granted, I was 4 years old.

That is so much more important, so I was thanking you for bringing it up.

Acrtually, in terms of Beatles stuff, this one seemed a little lacking. They all usually have the "Pig" picture from John and a bunch o' other stuff.

Well then I don't think you should ever go there again. They are not paying enough respect to the Beatles.
And the Beach Boys too I guess.

At this point you know, but I told you I was meeting Bekah to go roller coastering.

So, how are the roller coasters?
db44
Sep 21st, 2004, 02:10 AM
Wow. In some cases, that's all I can say. There was one coaster that I thought I was psychotic for getting on. Of course that thought hadn't come to me until I was on the thing, going straight up at a 90 degree angle.

No, not really. I did enjoy CP, but it's not Disney.

*sigh*
Well ok. I guess I wouldn't really compare them though. I mean...how can you compare Disney with rollercoasters galore? They're not really serving the same purpose in my mind.
