Paper Mario 2 - who has it?

I hate you if you have it! *sobs* I was at the store the other day and there it was....I almost stole it.

I need some $$...

I already told my brothers I was just going to wait to get it for my birthday *hint hint* and they just laughed at me.

My nephew and I bought it the second day after it was released. We played it for 3 hours straight and when I tried to save it on the new cheap memory card I bought, the memory card was corrupt and it would not save it. I found out the memory card was used and re-packaged and sold as if it were new. I promptly returned the memory card, learning my lesson to never buy cheap knock-offs, and I bought a new official Nintendo memory card. We have spent many hours playing that game and its a brilliant game! We havent played it in a few days because we've been busy.

no kidding, I got one of those "larger" off-brand cards... thing kept corrupting on me... I did some more checking and apparently what happened is that ever since like PS2 (not PS1) and GC, that the companies have kept the SECRETS on how to make the memory cards... they USED to be "open" to other vendors, but they have been having to experiment to make the "new" stuff, and obviously it's all junk, which puts more money in Nintendo and Sony's hands :rolleyes:... been using NOTHING but "official" cards in those systems since, and NO issues w/ corrupted files!!

Pah. I've bought off-brand controllers before, in fact I have a couple. I've never had any problems with them. I remember going to GameStop once and the guy behind the counter went on this long rant how off-brand controllers were the devil and I should spend 20 more bucks for the real thing.

So I bought the cheaper one just to piss him off. What a tool.

lol, remember that guy who said he didn't like FF: Crystal Chronicles? Well I was there the other day and he was working again, and I told him Samus sucked. He gasped and said, "But she's my girlfriend!!!" He and Daniel were all, "chuckle chuckle, Samus Samus drool" It was fun.


Controllers tend to be ok sometimes, but all the ones we've had wear out sooner and dont always work right. I'd rather have name brand stuff I know isn't made crappily.

The off-brand memory card I bought was MadCatz, I should have known. It will never happen again.

However, my sister and I have bought a few off-brand memory cards for the Cube by Nyko, just to save our extra Animal Crossing towns, and we have not had any problems out of them.

I have a brother-in-law that is cheap and only uses off-brands and he has never reported any problems.

For me though, its only Nintendo.

So I went to the mailbox today and lo' and behold I had received my monthly magazine of GameInformer. After doing a couple of backflips I went back home and started to read. And to my greatest pleasure I found the review for Paper Mario 2.

And boy does this review kick ass. I'd love to type out the whole thing, but that would be way too long and I'm sure none of you would read it. Here are some things they said that made me chuckle.

"Entertainment: Sadly lacking in wit, humor, and intelligence, the dialogue kills the entire experience."

"--this is one of the coolest looking titles I've seen in a long time. However, with a few minor additions, it's exactly like the first Paper Mario. While a lot of you out there loved the first title, I thought it was boring and juvenile. Sadly I find this one to be just as dull. The story is simplistic clicking through hundreds of dialogue screens is a drag, there is too much backtracking, and the basic gameplay hasn't evolved."

"So I play through the prologue and chapter one, really excited about how the game looks and plays. --I am sent to kill a dragon who holds the first of several Star Crystals, and the fight is bizarre in a very good way. Then, something terrible happens. I work my way through (I'm not kidding here) 15 minutes of press-A-to-continue-the-dialogue vignettes whose highlights are witless, dull dialogue punctuated with groan-inducing banter. It's terrible, and I'm crushed. I want this to be good, and fun, and rewarding."


It got a 6 out of 10. Not that this review means anything since I have yet to play it myself and deem whether it's Liz worthy enough. I just thought it was hilarious especially since all the hype it got.

So really I'm just pointing and laughing at everyone who thought it would be good.

LMAO! Thanks for posting those few excerpts :)

As one of the only two subscriptions I subscribe to, I hold Game Informer's opinion in pretty high regard. They are usually within a point one way or another of what my end opinion on a game is. Which means, Paper Mario 2 could end up being a 7...but, since it is Paper Mario, I'm leaning more toward a 5. We'll just have to see!

I bought it the other day. I was only planning on renting it but ending up buying it. Now I can put it down. I was actually surprised on how fun it is considering I didn't play the orginal.
