Illinois won't go undefeated, I guarantee it.
MrMojoRisin
Feb 3rd, 2005, 09:17 AM
Who will they lose too? In the tournament, they may lose, but I wouldn't expect it to be until the Final 4. There's no real challenge left in the Big 10 now that Pierre Pierce is kicked off of Iowa.

I still think Illinois will go down to someone. It's so hard to go undefeated. Someone always surprises you.
And I have no respect for anyone who likes Duke. Eww. LOL
MrMojoRisin
Feb 13th, 2005, 09:05 PM
There's only one chance for Illinois to lose now, in the regular season, and that's Ohio State. Otherwise the rest of the Big 10 schedule is a joke.

I'm a Tar Heel fan, myself . . . there was a kid at the end of the 80s who graduated from my small Catholic high school alma mater that got a full basketball scholarship to NC. He was told that he'd be a bench player, he'd never start, but he would have a free ride there, and he did date my sister briefly (or so I'm told). He managed to hit a three late in the '93 championship game against Michigan. So, my loyalties lie in Chapel Hill . . . and Syracuse, which is 2 1/2 hours away from me, and is my wife's favorite team.

Mar 7th, 2005, 11:26 AM
Illinois should not have lost that game, I blame cockyness by the team, and a hell of a lot of luck by Ohio state. But it doesn't matter 29-1 is still the best in the nation, and in April when Illinois wins in the tournament I hope y V has a heart attack.

It's great to see Oden come through at the end. I know the Celtics(and several other teams as well) are looking at him very highly, so it's safe to say that he'll be the first pick assuming he does go to the pro's.

Oden's gone after this year. And good riddance, I've never seen anyone get away with so many calls in my life.

Yeah, a lot of people thought his last block was a foul. Do others agree?
Katlin
Mar 24th, 2007, 09:12 AM
I agree. Though I am slightly biased because I go to Xavier and there is no doubt in my mind that the last play of our game should have been an intentional foul on Oden. So I'm still bitter.
But trying to be objective, I still think he gets away with a lot of stuff. And in Thursday's game, he was allowed to play while profusely bleeding. Since when is THAT allowed?

Duke's loss was such a heart-breaking loss. They'll remember that game throughout the entire season next year.
Which college players do people think will do well in the pro's? I follow college basketball a bit, but I haven't seen enough games of the greater players to have much of a say. Oden's defense is great enough that it changes the way other teams play, so I would think he has the most potential. He could be another Bill Russell. I'm not sure about Noah or Durant though.

It wasn't heartbreaking for Rutgers. Why not just consider it a great win for them? They came back from a 10-point deficit in the second half, and beat the #1 team in the country, 50 miles from that team's campus.
Sounds like a storybook ending to me.

A good free throw shooter missed two free throws at the end of the game. I'm not saying the Rutgers didn't deserve it, but it is very heart-breaking, especially for a team that was almost undefeated.
I may be staying up to watch both games tonight, and that's rare for me. There are 4 or so potential top 10 draft picks playing, so I'm really interested to see how well they play.
pinky
Apr 1st, 2007, 09:53 AM
Of course it was heartbreaking for Duke, their supporters, and especially for the players, particularly Harding.
But Americans traditionally love and root for the underdog, and Rutgers certainly fits that description. They are the Cinderella team of the tournament, and I'd be willing to be that a lot of people around the country are rooting for them this weekend.

The women's game is tonight, right? Oden looked great. He was much better than the previous games I've seen. I can't wait until he plays Shaq, assuming that he goes into the NBA next year. That may not be the case since he lost. I just wish he'd change his facial expressions once in a while.

Yep, the women are playing tonight. Rutgers vs Tennessee.
Two of the best coaches in the country, and two of the best teams. It should be a VERY good game!

Yeah, hopefully in a Celtics uniform(or Kevin Durant would be good as well).
I didn't see the woman's game. I really wish they'd put this on regular television rather than cable. I was hoping Duke would win the tournament, but Rutgers would be a second choice. Oh well.

I haven't been following the situation with Imus and the Rutgers team too much, but did he get fired? Why is it that somebody like Chris Rock is allowed to express their hatred and it's considered "comedy" but others are treated differently. He went overboard but many other people have as well.
