What does "rep" mean when someone says "reps you"?

See the star under people's avatars? You can click it if you like what they post, or agree with them, etc and they get "reputation points" from you.
You can also leave a comment, if you like.
You can check your own reputation points by going into your User Cp (link at the top of the page) and scroll down. It only shows the most recent few, but theyre there!


BTW, the X next to the star is to "report" a post or thread to a Mod.

What about when someone says "rep your school"?
Thats when someone is representing their school- like....telling everyone what school you are from, and that youre proud of it :)

You cant click your own star, only other people's. But some people who have a pop-up blocker might not be able to do it- when you click the star under someone else's username, a box should pop up. Then you can make a comment, if you want to, or just hit the enter button, and points are added to their rep.

Well, the points were suppose to be for fun for us, and for the owners and Mods of the site to see who is well-liked, and who is problematic, in cases of maybe looking for new Mods, or in instances of problems between members and so on. But theres a lot of people that "abuse" the rep system by creating threads offering to add to one another's rep points, so they have tons and tons, but not for good comments or contributions to the boards, just for repping one another, so its not the same. A lot of people take them very seriously, but it doesnt do anything for anyone in the end. The owners of the site and the Mods cant count the points for anything because they cant tell if someone got them the right way, or if they went into one of those rep point threads. They should probably just take them out again, theyre really pointless, and people on other boards actually fight about them :crazy:

You mustve clicked it when you posted. There are icons that you can add to your post under the box where you put in your text for your post, the same as when you start a thread. If you didnt do that on purpose, then you mustve clicked it on accident. Its no big deal :)
