I don't think the fan tried to hit Shef.

If anyone gets the NYPost from today, the first picture on p. 126 makes me think he was hitting the wall to get Shef's attention off the play.

Still, he made contact with Sheffield and he was rightfully thrown out. I think Shef handled himself well. The Sox players seemed to be on Shef's side too.

What about those fans running on the field, and possibly after Shef, later though? We barely hear anything about that.

Looking at the video i can't see his hand actually coming into contact with him. But i will give "Shef" the benefit of the doubt, the only problem i have is that people are treating him like OMG he did something so great he kept his cool and didnt hit the fan back. YAY lets cheer Shef for doing the right thing and what so many baseball players have done for years before.

How many fans have been hit or touched - Intentionally or not - while on the field? What "for years before"? I'm fine with giving people credit for restraining themselves. Do you know how close those two guys who ran out to Aaron on 715 were from being shot? It's not worth noting that Aaron's personal bodyguard - With pistol hidden in his binoculars case - Showed restraint even after all those threats Hank received?

The Boston fan has lost his season tickets over the incident.
