NEW YORK (AP) _ A nine-year-old girl has been arrested in the stabbing and killing of another young girl in Brooklyn. The nine-year-old, whose name hasn't been released, has been charged with manslaughter.
Police say the girl wanted a rubber ball and she allegedly stabbed eleven-year-old Queen Washington in the chest inside an apartment to get it. The victim was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
A police spokeswoman says the nine-year-old has been taken into custody and held at the 75th Precinct stationhouse. She says officers have recovered a knife used in the stabbing.
Police say the two girls were not related.
